Efficient Sharing of Energy Consumption data: A Privacy-Preserving Threshold Aggregation Approach

Energy consumption data collected by smart meters is increasingly used by various subscribers in the smart grid for load management, energy monitoring, and policy planning. To protect user privacy, edge-assisted privacy-preserving data aggregation (PPDA) techniques are commonly employed. However, existing methods face several challenges: i) limited scalability, ii) strict trust requirements, and iii) the risk of revealing unique consumption patterns to data collectors. To address these challenges, we propose a privacy-preserving threshold aggregation method that is easily scalable and facilitates efficient energy data sharing under limited trust assumptions. Specifically, we design VFPNTRU, a quantum-resistant homomorphic proxy re-encryption scheme with fault tolerance and re-encryption verification. In VFP-NTRU, smart meters can encrypt data with a public key without the need for prior negotiation of decryption keys with multiple subscribers. Additionally, we develop a privacy threshold collection protocol that uses a verifiable oblivious pseudorandom function to provide privacy guarantees similar to k-anonymity for SM data collection. We further introduce an energy consumption model to determine optimal collection strategies, improving system responsiveness. We provide correctness analysis and prove the security of our scheme. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach outperforms existing PPDA methods, making it particularly suitable for resource-constrained smart meters and central servers managing large-scale energy data. © 2014 IEEE.

Dual-level Mixup for Graph Few-shot Learning with Fewer Tasks

Graph neural networks have been demonstrated as a powerful paradigm for effectively learning graph-structured data on the web and mining content from it. Current leading graph models require a large number of labeled samples for training, which unavoidably leads to overfitting in few-shot scenarios. Recent research has sought to alleviate this issue by simultaneously leveraging graph learning and meta-learning paradigms. However, these graph meta-learning models assume the availability of numerous meta-training tasks to learn transferable meta-knowledge. Such assumption may not be feasible in the real world due to the difficulty of constructing tasks and the substantial costs involved. Therefore, we propose a SiMple yet effectIve approach for graph few-shot Learning with fEwer tasks, named SMILE. We introduce a dual-level mixup strategy, encompassing both within-task and across-task mixup, to simultaneously enrich the available nodes and tasks in meta-learning. Moreover, we explicitly leverage the prior information provided by the node degrees in the graph to encode expressive node representations. Theoretically, we demonstrate that SMILE can enhance the model generalization ability. Empirically, SMILE consistently outperforms other competitive models by a large margin across all evaluated datasets with in-domain and cross-domain settings. Our anonymous code can be found here. Exploring Source-Free X-ray Prohibited Item Detection with An Assistant-Teacher Network

Security scanners are important for maintaining long-term social stability and safety. However, different security scanners exist endogenous domain shifts. Traditional unsupervised methods require access to the source domain for adaptation during training. But in practical deployment, data privacy restricts access to data between different security scanners. To exploring the this issue, Assistant-Teacher Network (ATN) is proposed to address the endogenous domain shift of X-ray prohibited item detection in the case of source-free domain adaption. In particular, to suppress the problem of false positives and loss of important information in the source-free domain adaption, we propose a common cognitive mechanism. To further prevent the model from optimizing towards the wrong direction under false positive labels, an external ATN loop is designed. In addition, an image de-stylization mechanism is proposed to alleviate the endogenous domain shift, allowing the network to learn the essential features of the X-ray image. By utilizing internal and external loops, ATN can adaptively apply to multiple security scanners in a source-free domain adaptation. The comprehensive experimental results on X-ray images and natural images indicate that our method is effective. Especially in X-ray prohibited item detection, our method has achieved state of the art results compared to recent methods. VOILA: Complexity-Aware Universal Segmentation of CT images by Voxel Interacting with Language

Satisfactory progress has been achieved recently in universal segmentation of CT images. Following the success of vision-language methods, there is a growing trend towards utilizing text prompts and contrastive learning to develop universal segmentation models. However, there exists a significant imbalance in information density between 3D images and text prompts. Moreover, the standard fully connected layer segmentation approach faces significant challenges in handling multiple classes and exhibits poor generalizability. To address these challenges, we propose the VOxel Interacting with LAnguage method (VOILA) for universal CT image segmentation. Initially, we align voxels and language into a shared representation space and classify voxels on the basis of cosine similarity. Subsequently, we develop the Voxel-Language Interaction framework to mitigate the impact of class imbalance caused by foreground-background discrepancies and variations in target volumes. Furthermore, a Complexity-Aware Sampling method is proposed to focus on region hard to segment, achieved by generating pseudo-heatmaps from a trainable Gaussian mixture distribution. Our results indicate the proposed VOILA is capable to achieve improved performance with reduced parameters and computational cost during training. T3 Planner: Multi-Phase Planning Across Structure-Constrained Optical, IP, and Routing Topologies

Network topology planning is an essential multi-phase process to build and jointly optimize the multi-layer network topologies in wide-area networks (WANs). Most existing practices target single-phase/layer planning, and are incapable of satisfying all rigorous topological structure constraints (e.g., dual-homing rings) defined by network standards and operators, especially in large-scale networks. These significantly limit their usability and performance in production networks. We consider a general topology planning problem with typical structure constraints over three essential phases (greenfield, reconfiguration, and site expansion) and topological layers (optical, IP, and routing topologies). We present, T3Planner, a novel practical solver to this problem in production. Specifically, we develop a structure-driven encoder based on graph neural network (GNN) for concise structure encoding, and design a new learning framework with optical-centric layer compression/reconstruction and rule-aided reinforcement learning (RL) for fast convergence and high performance. Extensive experiments on nine real topologies demonstrate that T3Planner scales to large optical networks with hundreds of sites, saves 46:6% cost, and supports 3:12× more demand when compared to related existing approaches. © 1983-2012 IEEE.

MEFA-Net: A mask enhanced feature aggregation network for polyp segmentation

Accurate polyp segmentation is crucial for early diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer. This is a challenging task for three main reasons: (i) the problem of model overfitting and weak generalization due to the multi-center distribution of data;(ii) the problem of interclass ambiguity caused by motion blur and overexposure to endoscopic light;and (iii) the problem of intraclass inconsistency caused by the variety of morphologies and sizes of the same type of polyps. To address these challenges, we propose a new high-precision polyp segmentation framework, MEFA-Net, which consists of three modules, including the plug-and-play Mask Enhancement Module (MEG), Separable Path Attention Enhancement Module (SPAE), and Dynamic Global Attention Pool Module (DGAP). Specifically, firstly, the MEG module regionally masks the high-energy regions of the environment and polyps through a mask, which guides the model to rely on only a small amount of information to distinguish between polyps and background features, avoiding the model from overfitting the environmental information, and improving the robustness of the model. At the same time, this module can effectively counteract the "dark corner phenomenon" in the dataset and further improve the generalization performance of the model. Next, the SPAE module can effectively alleviate the inter-class fuzzy problem by strengthening the feature expression. Then, the DGAP module solves the intra-class inconsistency problem by extracting the invariance of scale, shape and position. Finally, we propose a new evaluation metric, MultiColoScore, for comprehensively evaluating the segmentation performance of the model on five datasets with different domains. We evaluated the new method quantitatively and qualitatively on five datasets using four metrics. Federated Graph Learning (FedGL) is an emerging Federated Learning (FL) framework that learns the graph data from various clients to train better Graph Neural Networks(GNNs) model. Owing to concerns regarding the security of such framework, numerous studies have attempted to execute backdoor attacks on FedGL, with a particular focus on distributed backdoor attacks. However, all existing methods posting distributed backdoor attack on FedGL only focus on injecting distributed backdoor triggers into the training data of each malicious client, which will cause model performance degradation on original task and is not always effective when confronted with robust federated learning defense algorithms, leading to low success rate of attack. What's more, the backdoor signals introduced by the malicious clients may be smoothed out by other clean signals from the honest clients, which potentially undermining the performance of the *** address the above significant shortcomings, we propose a non-intrusive graph distributed backdoor attack(NI-GDBA) that does not require backdoor triggers to be injected in the training data. Our attack trains an adaptive perturbation trigger generator model for each malicious client to learn the natural backdoor from the GNN model downloading from the server with the malicious client's local data. In contrast to traditional distributed backdoor attacks on FedGL via trigger injection in training data, our attack on different datasets such as Molecules and Bioinformatics have higher attack success rate, stronger persistence and stealth, and has no negative impact on the performance of the global GNN model. We also explore the robustness of NI-GDBA under different defense strategies, and based on our extensive experimental studies, we show that our attack method is robust to current federated learning defense methods, thus it is necessary to consider non-intrusive distributed backdoor attacks on FedGL as a novel threat that requires custom de

Offline Reinforcement Learning (RL) optimizes policy using pre-collected data instead of direct environment interaction, offering a safe and cost-effective solution for sequential decision-making in the real world. However, it faces challenges such as distribution shift issues and vulnerability under perturbations. Researchers have developed various conservative methods to improve the robustness of offline RL. Nevertheless, model-based methods can result in transition distribution shift issues, while model-free value-based uncertainty penalty methods may not be sufficiently robust. To address these problems, we propose a new method called Robust Offline RL via Conservative Smoothing and Dynamics Controlling (RCSD). To achieve reliable value estimation of out-of-distribution (OOD) actions, RCSD uses both model-free uncertainty penalty and model-based simulation methods. It introduces a new one-step simulation method with conservative dynamics controlling to avoid value overestimation caused by transition distribution shifts. Moreover, RCSD considers both current and next states when generating OOD states to ensure cautious value estimation and efficient data utilization. RCSD uses conservative Q-smoothing and policy smoothing to strengthen the policy against sudden changes under perturbations. Experiments on D4RL benchmark demonstrate that RCSD can achieve state-of-the-art performance compared to baselines in either benchmark or adversarial attack tests.

Retrieval-Augmented Fine-Tuning for Improving Retrieve-and-Edit Based Assertion Generation

Unit Testing is crucial in software development and maintenance, aiming to verify that the implemented functionality is consistent with the expected functionality. A unit test is composed of two parts: a test prefix, which drives the unit under test to a particular state, and a test assertion, which determines what the expected behavior is under that state. To reduce the effort of conducting unit tests manually, Yu et al. proposed an integrated approach (integration for short), combining information retrieval with a deep learning-based approach to generate assertions for test prefixes, and obtained promising results. In our previous work, we found that the overall performance of integration is mainly due to its success in retrieving assertions. Moreover, integration is limited to specific types of edit operations and struggles to understand the semantic differences between the retrieved focal-test (focal-test includes a test prefix and a unit under test) and the input focal-test. Based on these insights, we then proposed a retrieve-and-edit approach named EditAS to learn the assertion edit patterns to improve the effectiveness of assertion generation in our prior study. Despite being promising, we find that the effectiveness of EditAS can be further improved. Our analysis shows that: ① The editing ability of EditAS still has ample room for improvement. Its performance degrades as the edit distance between the retrieval assertion and ground truth increases. Specifically, the average accuracy of EditAS is 12.38% when the edit distance is greater than 5. ② EditAS lacks a fine-grained semantic understanding of both the retrieved focal-test and the input focal-test themselves, which leads to many inaccurate token modifications. In particular, an average of 25.57% of the incorrectly generated assertions that need to be modified are not modified, and an average of 6.45% of the assertions that match the ground truth are still modified.
