Multiparty dialogue question answering (QA) within machine reading comprehension (MRC) presents significant challenges due to the complex interplay of information across multiple speakers and the need for advanced logical reasoning. While existing models often focus on separating dialogue information based on speakers and utterances, they rarely address the crucial aspect of logical inference, leading to suboptimal performance in understanding and answering questions. To bridge this gap, we introduce the Logical Inference Memory Network (LIMN), a novel architecture designed for extractive QA in multiparty dialogues. LIMN incorporates a unique inference module pretrained on plain text QA datasets (like SQuAD 2.0), enabling it to transfer robust logical reasoning abilities to the dialogue domain. This module generates representations that are specifically attuned to logical inference, which are then integrated into the dialogue context. Furthermore, we propose a key-utterance-based interaction mechanism that dynamically focuses on the most relevant utterances within the dialogue, enhancing the model's ability to pinpoint answers. To ensure robust performance, LIMN employs a multitask learning strategy that jointly optimizes for answer extraction, answerability prediction, key-utterance identification, and masked speaker prediction. Extensive experiments on the Molweni and FriendsQA benchmarks, encompassing 25,000 and 10,000 questions respectively, demonstrate that LIMN achieves state-of-the-art results, affirming the effectiveness of incorporating logical inference in multiparty dialogue QA. © 2025 Association for Computational Linguistics.

LIOF: Make the Learned Index Learn Faster With Higher Accuracy

Learned indexes, emerging as a promising alternative to traditional indexes like B+Tree, utilize machine learning models to enhance query performance and reduce memory usage. However, the widespread adoption of learned indexes is limited by their expensive training cost and the need for high accuracy of internal models. Although some studies attempt to optimize the building process of these learned indexes, existing methods are restrictive in scope and applicability. They are usually tailored to specific index types and heavily rely on pre-trained model knowledge, making deployment a challenging task. In this work, we introduce the Learned Index Optimization Framework (LIOF), a general and easily integrated solution aimed at expediting the training process and improving the accuracy of index model for one-dimensional and multi-dimensional learned indexes. The optimization of LIOF for the learned indexes is intuitive, directly providing optimized parameters for index models based on the distribution of node data. By leveraging the correlation between key distribution and node model parameters, LIOF significantly reduces the training epochs required for each node model. Initially, we introduce an optimization strategy inspired by optimization-based meta-learning to train the LIOF to generate optimized initial parameters for index node models. Subsequently, we present a data-driven encoder and a parameter-centric decoder network, which adaptively translate key distribution into a latent variable representation and decode it into optimized node model initialization. Additionally, to further utilize characteristics of key distribution, we propose a monotonic regularizer and focal loss, guiding LIOF training towards efficiency and precision. Through extensive experimentation on real-world and synthetic datasets, we demonstrate that LIOF provides substantial enhancements in both training efficiency and the predictive accuracy for learned indexes. © 1989-2012 IEEE.

An Evolutionary Multitasking Algorithm for Efficient Multiobjective Recommendations

Represented by evolutionary algorithms and swarm intelligence algorithms, nature-inspired metaheuristics have been successfully applied to recommender systems and amply demonstrated effectiveness, in particular, for multiobjective recommendation. Owing to the population-based search paradigm, these algorithms can produce a number of recommendation lists, making diverse tradeoffs between multiple metrics and meeting the requirements of accuracy, novelty, diversity, and other user preferences. However, these algorithms are criticized for the low efficiency of the optimization process, especially when the number of users is large. To address this issue, this article proposes an evolutionary multitasking-based recommendation method, where each task corresponds to a user and all the tasks are optimized simultaneously, thus highly improving the efficiency of recommendation. To enhance the convergence speed, all the users are divided into multiple populations according to the similarity between their preferences, where each population evolves with internal knowledge transfer between users, and all the populations evolve with external knowledge transfer between populations. Experimental results on various datasets verify that the proposed method can better balance between multiple metrics than classical and deep neural network-based recommendation methods and exhibits significantly higher efficiency than evolutionary multiobjective optimization-based recommendation methods. © 2024 IEEE. Owing to its ability to mitigate the double-fading effect by amplifying the reflected signal, the active intelligent reflecting surface(IRS) has garnered significant attention. In this paper, an amplify-and-forward(AF) relay network assisted by a hybrid IRS consisting of both passive and active units is developed. A signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) maximization problem is formulated, where the AF relay beamforming matrix and the hybrid IRS reflecting coefficient matrices for two-time slots need to be optimized. To address the SNR maximization problem, this paper proposes both a high-performance(HP) method and a low-complexity(LC) method. The HP method is based on the semidefinite relaxation and fractional programming(SDR-FP)algorithm, with rank-1 solutions obtained through Gaussian randomization. For the LC method, the amplification coefficient of each active IRS element is assumed to be equal. The SNR maximization problem is then addressed using the whitening filter,generalized power iteration, and generalized Rayleigh-Ritz(WF-GPI-GRR) approach. Simulation results show that compared with the benchmarks, such as the passive IRS-aided AF relay network, the proposed HP-SDR-FP and WF-GPI-GRR methods achieve significant rate improvements. In particular, the HP-SDR-FP and WF-GPI-GRR methods yield more than a 135.0%rate gain when the transmit power Ps of the source is 10 dBm. Furthermore, the proposed HP-SDR-FP method outperforms the WF-GPI-GRR method in terms of rate performance.

Android malware authors often use packers to evade analysis. Although many unpacking tools have been proposed, they face two significant challenges: 1) They are easily impeded by anti-analysis techniques employed by packers, preventing efficient collection of hidden Dex data. 2) They are typically designed to unpack a specific packer and cannot handle malware packed with mixed packers. Consequently, many packed malware samples evade detection. To bridge this gap, we propose Gupacker , a novel generalized unpacking framework. Gupacker offers a generic solution for first-generation holistic packer by customizing the Android system source code. It identifies the type of packer and selects an appropriate unpacking function, constructs a deeper active call chain to achieve generic unpacking of second-generation function extraction packers, and uses JNI function and instruction monitoring to handle third-generation virtual obfuscation packer. On this basis, we counteract a diverse array of anti-analysis techniques. We conduct extensive experiments on 5K packed Android malware samples, comparing Gupacker with 2 commercial and 4 state-of-the-art academic unpacking tools. The results demonstrate that Gupacker significantly improves the efficiency of Android malware unpacking with acceptable system overhead. We analyze real packed applications based on Gupacker and found several are second-packed by attackers, including WPS for Android, with tens of millions of users. We receive and responsibly report 13 0day vulnerabilities and also assist in the remediation of all vulnerabilities. © 2005-2012 IEEE.

Dual AAV Cluster-Assisted Maritime Physical-Layer Secure Communications via Collaborative Beamforming

Autonomous aerial vehicles (AAVs) can be utilized as relay platforms to assist maritime wireless communications. However, complex channels and multipath effects at sea can adversely affect the quality of AAV transmitted signals. Collaborative beamforming (CB) can enhance the signal strength and range to assist the AAV relay for remote maritime communications. However, due to the open nature of AAV channels, security issue requires special consideration. This article proposes a dual AAV cluster-assisted system via CB to achieve physical-layer security in maritime wireless communications. Specifically, one AAV cluster forms a maritime AAV-enabled virtual antenna array (MUVAA) relay to forward data signals to the remote legitimate vessel, and the other AAV cluster forms an MUVAA jammer to send jamming signals to the remote eavesdropper. In this system, we formulate a secure and energy-efficient maritime communication multiobjective optimization problem (SEMCMOP) to maximize the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) of the legitimate vessel, minimize the SINR of the eavesdropping vessel and minimize the total flight energy consumption of AAVs. Since the SEMCMOP is an NP-hard and large-scale optimization problem, we propose an improved swarm intelligence optimization algorithm with chaotic solution initialization and hybrid solution update strategies to solve the problem. Simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm outperforms other comparison algorithms, and it can achieve more efficient signal transmission by using the CB-based method. © 2014 IEEE.

Enhancing Human Pose Estimation in the Internet of Things via Diffusion Generative Models

With the ongoing development of public video surveillance technology, accurate human pose estimation is becoming increasingly important in urban administration and law enforcement. However, existing methods rely on large-scale dense annotations, which are labor-intensive and time-consuming. To tackle this, we propose SparsePose which leverages training videos with sparse annotations (labeled every k frames) to learn to propagate temporal poses that help to estimate the poses in unlabeled frames. Technically, we engage in a novel dual-branch architecture that combines 1) pose forecasting of the consecutive neighboring frames with 2) visual clues of the current frame and the nearest labeled frames. We theoretically derive the intra-branch and inter-branch mutual information loss to supervise that maximized pose-relevant features are extracted from the current frame and different branches complement each other to approach precise pose estimation. Additionally, we propose a diffusion generative enhancement, which improves the robustness of the model to challenging scenes from the perspective of diversity. Empirical results show that our method significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art methods in sparsely labeled pose estimation on three benchmark datasets. © 2025 IEEE.

Fabrication-Tolerant High-Speed 5-Bit Silicon Optical True Time Delay Line in the O-Band

Fast reconfiguration time on the order of nanoseconds is crucial for microwave photonic beamformers, particularly in 5G/6G wireless communication systems. Most previously reported integrated optical true time delay lines (OTTDLs) exhibit a slow response time of tens of microseconds. In this study, we demonstrate an O-band high-speed 5-bit silicon OTTDL based on fabrication-tolerant electro-optic push-pull optical switches, which exhibit lower phase deviation and reduced insertion loss compared to conventional designs. The rising and falling times are 9 ns and 11 ns for the electro-optic switching, respectively. The insertion loss and crosstalk of our fabrication-tolerant high-speed switch element are 0.66 dB (0.74 dB) and −25.09 dB (−27.41 dB) at the bar (cross) state, respectively, at the wavelength of 1310 nm. For the 5-bit OTTDL, the initial phase variation is only ∼0.10π, which is one-sixth of that observed in the conventional design. Additionally, our proposed OTTDL features a low fiber-to-fiber insertion loss of 8.72 dB and a delay tuning range of 0-313.9 ps. The high-performance, fabrication-tolerant OTTDLs hold significant promise for future applications in fast beamforming. © 1983-2012 IEEE.
