Multiparty dialogue question answering (QA) within machine reading comprehension (MRC) presents significant challenges due to the complex interplay of information across multiple speakers and the need for advanced logical reasoning. While existing models often focus on separating dialogue information based on speakers and utterances, they rarely address the crucial aspect of logical inference, leading to suboptimal performance in understanding and answering questions. To bridge this gap, we introduce the Logical Inference Memory Network (LIMN), a novel architecture designed for extractive QA in multiparty dialogues. LIMN incorporates a unique inference module pretrained on plain text QA datasets (like SQuAD 2.0), enabling it to transfer robust logical reasoning abilities to the dialogue domain. This module generates representations that are specifically attuned to logical inference, which are then integrated into the dialogue context. Furthermore, we propose a key-utterance-based interaction mechanism that dynamically focuses on the most relevant utterances within the dialogue, enhancing the model's ability to pinpoint answers. To ensure robust performance, LIMN employs a multitask learning strategy that jointly optimizes for answer extraction, answerability prediction, key-utterance identification, and masked speaker prediction. Extensive experiments on the Molweni and FriendsQA benchmarks, encompassing 25,000 and 10,000 questions respectively, demonstrate that LIMN achieves state-of-the-art results, affirming the effectiveness of incorporating logical inference in multiparty dialogue QA. © 2025 Association for Computational Linguistics.

With the high mortality rate for the cases of malignant tumors, the discovery and early treatment of cancer is critical to improving the 5-year survival rate of cancer. The biggest challenge in control and prevention is how to detect tumors as early as possible, so that the most effective means can be used for treatment. With the help of the WOS database, researchers found that liquid biopsy, genetic material/protein expression and computer imaging play an important role in cancer detection. Through analysis of the history and current status of cancer detection technology development, this paper also aims to provide guidance for the clinical practice of current cancer screening and provide inspiration for future technological development. © 2019 Association for Computing Machinery.

Listening to the user's voice: A temporal analysis of autism-related questions on Quora

Social question and answer (Q&A) platforms offer a new way for identifying information needs of people with certain diseases. Taking Quora as an example, we examine which health topics are of interest to autistic people and how these topics evolve over time. Experimental results reveal increasingly heavy and diverse attention to the condition, from diagnosis and treatment of autism itself to extended issues like social challenges, parenting, and education issues. We find that users tend to post clinical concerns about autism on Quora although traditionally such social Q&A platforms encourage more social and awareness-level questions. New concerns have appeared recently about autism's relations to other diseases like attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD). Gender Disparity in Expressed Emotions within Health-Related Online Support Groups

Online support groups offer a new way to users to communicate with others regarding certain health issues. Taking autism-related support groups on Facebook as an example, we examine whether the expressed emotions differ between female and male users in online health-related support groups and whether such gender disparity varied based on the topics of the groups. Experimental results reveal a significant gender difference of expressed emotions in the groups. We find that female users tended to express more positive emotions in the group discussions than the male group members did. In addition, users appeared to express different sentiments within the groups focused on various topics. Male users tend to convey more negative emotions in the group that related to treatment, while female users were more positive when posted in the research-related group than male users were. Opportunities and challenges faced by digital libraries in the big data era

Construction of network-based academic resources is undergoing rapid development in this big data era, displaying a trend to replace digital libraries. This challenge calls for the construction of digital libraries to have big data related considerations, i.e., from resource construction aspect, we should expand the resource scope, aggrandize the breadth of resource integration, and increase the depth of the resource organization and processing;from technology application aspect, we should attach great importance to the semantic technology, emphasize the application of clustering technology, widely adopt data analysis technology, and elevate the retrieval technology level;from service aspect, we need to enrich services and product categories of digital libraries, and convert the passive, and general service mode to the proactive and personalized mode. The construction of next generation digital libraries must differ from the traditional way. Comprehensive service ideas should be established;comprehensive resource services should be provided;the conventional service mode and transmission form also need to be expanded;even the librarians of digital libraries are required to become data analysts.

Research Purpose: The distributed, traceable and security of blockchain technology are applicable to the construction of new government information resource models, which could eliminate the barn effect and trust in government information sharing, as well as promoting the transformation of government affairs from management to service, it is also of great significance to the sharing of government information and construction of service-oriented e-government. Propose Methods: By analyzing the current problems of government information sharing, combined with literature research, this paper proposes the theoretical framework and advantages of blockchain technology applied to government information management and sharing, expounds the blockchain-based solution, it also constructs a government information sharing model based on blockchain, and gives implementation strategies at the technical and management levels. Results and Conclusion: The government information sharing model based on the blockchain solution and the transparency of government information can be used as a research framework for information interaction analysis between the government and users. It can also promote the construction and development of information sharing for Chinese government, as well as providing unified information sharing solution at the departmental and regional levels for e-government. © 2019 IEEE.

The understory terrain is an essential component of forest vertical structure and ecosystem health, providing crucial insights for resource assessment and forestry surveys. This letter proposes a novel method for extracting understory terrain through forest backscattering power profiles and the modified cloth simulation filtering (MCSF) algorithm. It innovatively reconstructs synthetic aperture radar (SAR) signals into a 3-D point cloud, eliminating sidelobe signals to reduce noise while only retaining the mainlobe signals. The MCSF algorithm is subsequently utilized to extract ground and nonground points based on the vertical distribution of the mainlobe signals. The extracted ground points offer a more precise representation of actual terrain conditions. The feasibility of the method was validated utilizing airborne P-band multi baseline SAR data obtained from the Saihanba test site in Hebei Province. The outcomes clearly indicate that our approach exhibits superior correlation (0.999) and a smaller root mean square error (RMSE) (3.07 m) in comparison to conventional methods when compared with the reference digital elevation model (DEM). © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Unsupervised Statistical Text Simplification

Most recent approaches for Text Simplification (TS) have drawn on insights from machine translation to learn simplification rewrites from the monolingual parallel corpus of complex and simple sentences, yet their effectiveness strongly relies on large amounts of parallel sentences. However, there has been a serious problem haunting TS for decades, that is, the availability of parallel TS corpora is scarce or not fit for the learning task. In this paper, we will focus on one especially useful and challenging problem of unsupervised TS without a single parallel sentence. To the best of our knowledge, we present the first unsupervised text simplification system based on phrase-based machine translation system, which leverages a careful initialization of phrase tables and language models. On the widely used WikiLarge and WikiSmall benchmarks, our system respectively obtains 39.08 and 25.12 SARI points, even outperforms some supervised baselines. © 1989-2012 IEEE.
