The lifestyle transition of Arthrobotrys oligospora is mediated by microRNA-like RNAs

The lifestyle transition of fungi,defined as switching from taking organic material as nutrients to pathogens,is a fundamental phenomenon in ***,the mechanisms of such transition remain largely *** we show microRNA-like RNAs(milRNAs)play a key role in fungal lifestyle transition for the first *** identified milRNAs by small RNA sequencing in Arthrobotrys oligospora,a known nematode-trapping *** them,7 highly expressed milRNAs were confirmed by northern-blot *** out two milRNAs significantly decreased ***’s ability to switch *** further identified that two of these milRNAs were associated with argonaute protein QDE-2 by RNA-immunoprecipitation(RIP)*** of the predicted target genes of milRNAs were found in immunoprecipitation(IP)products of *** of argonaute gene qde-2 also led to serious defects in lifestyle ***,knocking out individual milRNAs or qde-2 lead to diverse responses under different conditions,and qde-2 itself may be targeted by the ***,it indicates the lifestyle transition of fungi is mediated by milRNAs through RNA interference(RNAi)machinery,revealing the wide existence of miRNAs in fungi kingdom and providing new insights into understanding the adaptation of fungi from scavengers to predators and the mechanisms underlying fungal infections.

Deep learning methods have shown significant performance in medical image analysis tasks. However, they generally act like 'black box' without explanations in both feature extraction and decision processes, leading to lack of clinical insights and high risk assessments. To aid deep learning in envisioning diseases with visual clues, we propose Representation Group-Disentangling Network (RGD-Net), which can completely disentangle feature space of input X-ray images into several independent feature groups, each corresponding to a specific disease. Taking several semantically related and labeled X-ray images as input, RGD-Net firstly extracts completely group-disentangled representations of diseases through Group-Disentangle Module, which applies group-swap and linking operations to construct latent space by enforcing semantic consistency of attributes. To prevent learning degenerate representations defined as shortcut problem, we further introduce adversarial constricts on mapping from features to diseases, thus avoiding model collapse with former free-form disentanglement. Experiments on chestxray-14 and ChestXpert datasets demonstrate that RGD-Net are effective in predicting diseases with remarkable advantages, which leverage potential factors contributing to different diseases, thus enhancing interpretability in working patterns of deep learning methods. © 2022 IEEE.

The LeaderRank algorithm identifies influential nodes using the idea of the random walk and performs well in the identification of hub genes in biological networks. The rapid development of biological technologies promotes the evolution of networks to be highly complex and increasing largely in size. In this study, we introduce LRCu, for computing LeaderRank using CUDA, to identify hub genes. The results show that the parallel implementation is highly effective and achieves a speedup of more than 42 times for a 13,000-gene network, thereby enhancing large-scale network computation. © 2024 IEEE.

The Master-Slave Encoder Model for Improving Patent Text Summarization: A New Approach to Combining Specifications and Claims

In order to solve the problem of insufficient generation quality caused by traditional patent text abstract generation models only originating from patent specifications, the problem of new terminology OOV caused by rapid patent updates, and the problem of information redundancy caused by insufficient consideration of the high professionalism, accuracy, and uniqueness of patent texts, we proposes a patent text abstract generation model (MSEA) based on a master-slave encoder architecture;Firstly, the MSEA model designs a master-slave encoder, which combines the instructions in the patent text with the claims as input, and fully explores the characteristics and details between the two through the master-slave encoder;Then, the model enhances the consideration of new technical terms in the input sequence based on the pointer network, and further enhances the correlation with the input text by re weighing the "remembered" and "for-gotten" parts of the input sequence from the encoder;Finally, an enhanced repetition suppression mechanism for patent text was introduced to ensure accurate and non redundant abstracts generated. On a publicly available patent text dataset, compared to the state-of-the-art model, Improved Multi-Head Attention Mechanism (IMHAM), the MSEA model achieves an improvement of 0.006, 0.005, and 0.005 in Rouge-1, Rouge-2, and Rouge-L scores, respectively. MSEA leverages the characteristics of patent texts to effectively enhance the quality of patent text generation, demonstrating its advancement and effectiveness in the experiments. Research Purpose: The distributed, traceable and security of blockchain technology are applicable to the construction of new government information resource models, which could eliminate the barn effect and trust in government information sharing, as well as promoting the transformation of government affairs from management to service, it is also of great significance to the sharing of government information and construction of service-oriented e-government. Propose Methods: By analyzing the current problems of government information sharing, combined with literature research, this paper proposes the theoretical framework and advantages of blockchain technology applied to government information management and sharing, expounds the blockchain-based solution, it also constructs a government information sharing model based on blockchain, and gives implementation strategies at the technical and management levels. Results and Conclusion: The government information sharing model based on the blockchain solution and the transparency of government information can be used as a research framework for information interaction analysis between the government and users. It can also promote the construction and development of information sharing for Chinese government, as well as providing unified information sharing solution at the departmental and regional levels for e-government.

The multiplex network has attracted wide attention because it can better describe the various relationships in the real world, and the duplex network is a special two-layer form of it. The purpose of this research focuses on introducing new entropy-based measures for multiplex network, especially duplex network. The new measure called Interactive entropy in duplex network (IE) is based on information entropy, a key concept of information theory. As an important resource for machine translation and cross-language information retrieval, collecting large-scale parallel corpus has been paid wide attention. With the development of the Internet, researchers begin to mine the parallel corpora from the multilingual websites. They use some prior knowledge like ad hoc heuristics or calculate the similarity of the webpages structure and content to find the bilingual webpages. This paper presents a method that uses the search engine and little prior knowledge about the URL patterns to get the bilingual websites from the Internet. The method is fast for its low time cost and there is no need for large-scale computation on URL pattern matching. We have collected 88 915 candidate parallel Chinese-English webpages, which average accuracy is around 90.8%. During the evaluation, the true bilingual websites that we found have high similar html structure and good quality translations. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.

Idioms, are a kind of idiomatic expression in Chinese, most of which consist of four Chinese characters. Due to the properties of non-compositionality and metaphorical meaning, Chinese Idioms are hard to be understood by children and non-native speakers. This study proposes a novel task, denoted as Chinese Idiom Paraphrasing (CIP). CIP aims to rephrase idioms-included sentences to non-idiomatic ones under the premise of preserving the original sentence’s meaning. Since the sentences without idioms are easier handled by Chinese NLP systems, CIP can be used to pre-process Chinese datasets, thereby facilitating and improving the performance of Chinese NLP tasks, e.g., machine translation system, Chinese idiom cloze, and Chinese idiom embeddings. In this study, CIP task is treated as a special paraphrase generation task. To circumvent difficulties in acquiring annotations, we first establish a large-scale CIP dataset based on human and machine collaboration, which consists of 115,530 sentence pairs. We further deploy three baselines and two novel CIP approaches to deal with CIP problems. The results show that the proposed methods have better performances than the baselines based on the established CIP dataset. © 2022, CC BY.
