Complex networks can be regarded as an abstraction of the description of a complex system. This paper presents an improved nonlinear synchronization algorithm IRC (inverse rank correlation) based on Kendall rank correlation. The IRC coupling coefficient is asymmetric. The brain function network has directionality by constructing with the IRC coupling coefficient matrices, which is helpful to study the nonlinear dynamic behavior of the brain network. The IRC algorithm was used to construct the left and right brain functional networks based on multi-channel EEG data, and the average degree index of the regional brain function network was analyzed to study the similarities and differences of regional brain networks between epilepsy patients and normal people. The results show that the improved algorithm can significantly distinguish between epilepsy and normal left brain region functional networks, in which the complexity of the epilepsy and the normal left brain are different. The experimental data show that the analysis of IRC network will help the clinical diagnosis and analysis of epilepsy, further deepen the study of the neurological dynamics of the brain, and provide an effective tool for clinical diagnosis.

Research on the motivation to contribution and influencing factors of university students——a semi-structured interview based on qualitative research

Due to the lack of theoretical knowledge and practical experience, the university students have many deficiencies in contribution. We conducted semi-structured interviews with 28 undergraduate and postgraduate students of Nanjing Agricultural University. At the same time, we used descriptive statistics and cross-analysis methods to analyse the motivations of college students' initial contribution and the influencing factor of their choice. Based on this, this paper puts forward some suggestions for the initial submission of college students, and the journals are also provided for reference in the selection of manuscripts.

Research on Influencing Factors of College Students' Intention of Online Health Information Behavior Based on Social Cognitive Theory

Based on the Social Cognition Theory, we constructed the influencing factors model of college students' intention of online health information behavior from three levels of individual, society and information systems, which was analyzed by using the PLS-SEM. Research shows that self-efficacy, information service quality, social support, information literacy and information quality significantly influence college students' intention of online health information behavior. However, the influence of perceived risk and information system quality is not significant.

Comparative analysis of time irreversibility and amplitude irreversibility based on joint permutation

Although time irreversibility (TIR) and amplitude irreversibility (AIR) are relevant concepts for nonequilibrium analysis, their association has received little attention. This paper conducts a systematic comparative analysis of the relationship between TIR and AIR based on statistical descriptions and numerical simulations. To simplify the quantification of TIR and AIR, the amplitude permutation and global information of the associated vector are combined to produce a joint probability estimation. Chaotic logistic, Henon, and Lorenz series are generated to evaluate TIR and AIR according to surrogate theory, and the distributions of joint permutations for these model series are measured to compare the degree of TIR and AIR. The joint permutation TIR and AIR are then used to investigate nonequilibrium pathological features in epileptic electroencephalography data. Test results suggest that epileptic brain electrical activities, particular those during the onset of seizure, manifest higher nonequilibrium characteristics. According to the statistical definitions and targeted pairs of joint permutations in the chaotic model data, TIR and AIR are fundamentally different nonequilibrium descriptors from time- and amplitude-reversibility, respectively, and thus require different forms of numerical analysis. At the same time, TIR and AIR both provide measures for fluctuation theorems associated with nonequilibrium processes, and have similar probabilistic differences in the pairs of joint permutations and consistent outcomes when used to analyze both the model series and real-world signals. Overall, comparative analysis of TIR and AIR contributes to our understanding of nonequilibrium features and broadens the scope of quantitative nonequilibrium measures. Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a disease with normal glucose tolerance before pregnancy and only diabetes during pregnancy. The discovery of GDM has a long history. The specific causes and mechanisms of its occurrence are still unclear. There is a lack of research on intelligent diagnosis of GDM. GDM has many adverse effects on pregnant women and fetuses, which is of great significance for the early diagnosis of GDM. Based on the measured data of the hospital, this paper realizes the intelligent diagnosis of GDM by using a improved KNN algorithm and a improved BP neural network.

Do we measure novelty when we analyze unusual combinations of cited references? A validation study of bibliometric novelty indicators based on F1000Prime data

Lee, Walsh, and Wang (2015) – based on Uzzi, Mukherjee, Stringer, and Jones (2013) – and Wang, Veugelers, and Stephan (2017) proposed scores based on cited references (cited journals) data which can be used to measure the novelty of papers (named as novelty scores U and W in this study). Although previous research has used novelty scores in various empirical analyses, no study has been published up to now – to the best of our knowledge – which quantitatively tested the convergent validity of novelty scores: do these scores measure what they propose to measure? Using novelty assessments by faculty members (FMs) at F1000Prime for comparison, we tested the convergent validity of the two novelty scores (U and W). FMs’ assessments not only refer to the quality of biomedical papers, but also to their characteristics (by assigning certain tags to the papers): for example, are the presented findings or formulated hypotheses novel (tags "new findings" and "hypothesis")? We used these and other tags to investigate the convergent validity of both novelty scores. Our study reveals different results for the novelty scores: the results for novelty score U are mostly in agreement with previously formulated expectations. We found, for instance, that for a standard deviation (one unit) increase in novelty score U, the expected number of assignments of the "new finding" tag increase by 7.47%. The results for novelty score W, however, do not reflect convergent validity with the FMs’ assessments: only the results for some tags are in agreement with the expectations. Thus, we propose – based on our results – the use of novelty score U for measuring novelty quantitatively, but question the use of novelty score W. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. Multilingual Focused Crawler System based on Web Content Extraction and Path Configuration

The multilingual focused crawler system combines web content extraction with path configuration to make use of their advantages and achieve automatic collection of network information in multiple languages. Firstly, system selects foreign language keywords according to crawling webpage language and Chinese keywords, and uses initial link to obtain webpage information. Then, it uses path configuration information or web content extraction algorithm based on the distribution line block to get webpage content, and adopts rules or configuration information to acquire new links, published time and title. Next, keywords are used to filter irrelevant information. Finally, results are presented as a list. When users use focused crawler system, the webpage path information can be configured or not according to requirements, and the collected network resources can also be searched or filtered.

Epilepsy is a neural disorder with the hallmark of recurrent seizures. To characterize the epileptic brain electrical activities, we employed the cross modulation of instantaneous amplitudes and frequencies to separate synchronous and anti-synchronous modulation. Amplitude-amplitude, amplitude-frequency and frequency-frequency cross modulation were adopted to analyse the difference between EEG signal of epileptic patients and that of normal people. By comparing the observed patterns with two groups of EEG signals we demonstrate that the cross-modulation exponentials at the temporal region and the occipital region of right hemisphere are significant different.

Transfer entropy (TE) has been broadly used in the field of neurosciences. In this paper, the partial information decomposition algorithm is employed to decompose multivariate TE into synergistic, redundant and unique parts. In this work, the synergistic part is believed as more suitable as the computation method. We recorded the magnetoencephalogram (MEG) data of 6 subjects with depression and 13 normal subjects under different emotional stimulations, and studied the coupling between multiple symmetric channels in the frontal area in the brain of subject. The experimental results show that under different emotional stimulations, normal people present significant difference from the depression patients, especially in the right frontal area. Furthermore, under negative emotional stimulation, the difference in synergistic value between normal people and depression patients is smaller. The synergistic value of depression patients has become bigger, which indicates that the brain complexity of depression patients has grown, and their brain activities have increased.
