Discovering frequent trends in time series is a critical task in data mining. Recently, order-preserving matching was proposed to find all occurrences of a pattern in a time series, where the pattern is a relative order (regarded as a trend) and an occurrence is a sub-time series whose relative order coincides with the pattern. Inspired by the order-preserving matching, the existing order-preserving pattern (OPP) mining algorithm employs order-preserving matching to calculate the support, which leads to low efficiency. To address this deficiency, this paper proposes an algorithm called efficient frequent OPP miner (EFO-Miner) to find all frequent OPPs. EFO-Miner is composed of four parts: a pattern fusion strategy to generate candidate patterns, a matching process for the results of sub-patterns to calculate the support of super-patterns, a screening strategy to dynamically reduce the size of prefix and suffix arrays, and a pruning strategy to further dynamically prune candidate patterns. Moreover, this paper explores the order-preserving rule (OPR) mining and proposes an algorithm called OPR-Miner to discover strong rules from all frequent OPPs using EFO-Miner. Experimental results verify that OPR-Miner gives better performance than other competitive algorithms. Existing multimodal recommendation research still faces some challenges, such as not being able to fully mine the implicit relevance information of neighbor nodes, and the unreasonable weight allocation to imbalanced nodes. To address the aforementioned challenges, this paper introduces a new multimodal recommendation model called NS-MAR+. Specifically, the model firstly constructs a neighbor similarity graph convolutional network to capture the implicit relevance information and reasonably assigns the attention weights through the graph attention mechanism. Secondly, the model introduces a modal alignment and fusion mechanism by using a multilayer perceptron (MLP) to map image and text features into a shared space for comparison and fusion. In addition, the model constructs a user co-interaction graph and an item semantic graph based on the original information and performs graph convolution operations to enhance the preference information of users and items, and to better capture the interactions and internal features between users and items. Finally, MLP is employed to aggregate user and item representations and predict personalized recommendation rankings. To validate the experiment's efficacy, this paper compares with several leading multimodal recommendation models on public datasets with a performance improvement of 1% to 3%. The experimental outcomes indicate that the model in this paper has good superiority and accuracy in multimodal recommendation tasks.

A latent factor analysis (LFA) model can efficiently address a high-dimensional and sparse (HiDS) matrix with a stochastic gradient descent (SGD) algorithm. However, an SGD-based LFA model's performance depends heavily on its hyper-parameters. The popular method is based on grid-search, which fails because of expensive computation and time-consuming. Aiming at implementing a hyper-parameter-free LFA model, this study proposes an adaptive moment estimation-incorporated particle swarm optimization (Adam-PSO) algorithm that efficiently addresses the premature issues in a PSO algorithm. With achieved the hyper-parameter adaptation in an SGD-based LFA model, an Adam-PSO-based LFA (APL) model possessing hyper-parameter-free training is further implemented. Empirical studies on four HiDS matrices indicate that compared with state-of-the-art models with hyper-parameter adaptation settings, an APL model achieves the most efficient hyper-parameter-free training and highly competitive prediction accuracy for missing data of an HiDS matrix. Hence, it fits the need of real applications with high scalability and efficiency.

In the era of the sixth generation (6G) and industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), an industrial cyber-physical system (ICPS) drives the proliferation of sensor devices and computing-intensive tasks. To address the limited resources of IIoT sensor devices, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted mobile edge computing (MEC) has emerged as a promising solution, providing flexible and cost-effective services in close proximity of IIoT sensor devices (ISDs). However, leveraging aerial MEC to meet the delay-sensitive and computation-intensive requirements of the ISDs could face several challenges, including the limited communication, computation and caching (3C) resources, stringent offloading requirements for 3C services, and constrained on-board energy of UAVs. To address these issues, we first present a collaborative aerial MEC-assisted ICPS architecture by incorporating the computing capabilities of the macro base station (MBS) and UAVs. We then formulate a service delay minimization optimization problem (SDMOP). Since the SDMOP is proved to be an NP-hard problem, we propose a joint computation offloading, caching, communication resource allocation, computation resource allocation, and UAV trajectory control approach (JC5A). Specifically, JC5A consists of a block successive upper bound minimization method of multipliers (BSUMM) for computation offloading and service caching, a convex optimization-based method for communication and computation resource allocation, and a successive convex approximation (SCA)-based method for UAV trajectory control. Moreover, we theoretically prove the convergence and polynomial complexity of JC5A. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach can achieve superior system performance compared to the benchmark approaches and algorithms. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. INTRODUCTION:To develop and validate a machine learning model based on dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) for predicting cervical lymph node metastases (CLNM) in patients diagnosed with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). METHODS:This prospective single-center study enrolled patients with NPC and the study assessment included both DECT and 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT). Radiomics features were extracted from each region of interest (ROI) for cervical lymph nodes using arterial and venous phase images at 100 keV and 150 keV, either individually as non-fusion models or combined as fusion models on the DECT images. The performance of the random forest (RF) models, combined with radiomics features, was evaluated by area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) analysis. DeLong's test was employed to compare model performances, while decision curve analysis (DCA) assessed the clinical utility of the predictive models. RESULTS:Sixty-six patients with NPC were included for analysis, which was divided into a training set (n = 42) and a validation set (n = 22). A total of 13 radiomic models were constructed (4 non-fusion models and 9 fusion models). In the non-fusion models, when the threshold value exceeded 0.4, the venous phase at 100 keV (V100) (AUC, 0.9667; 95 % confidence interval [95 % CI], 0.9363-0.9901) model exhibited a higher net benefit than other non-fusion models. The V100 + V150 fusion model achieved the best performance, with an AUC of 0.9697 (95 % CI, 0.9393-0.9907). CONCLUSION:DECT-based radiomics effectively diagnosed CLNM in patients with NPC and may potentially be a valuable tool for clinical decision-making. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE:This study improved pre-operative evaluation, treatment strategy selection, and prognostic evaluation for patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma by combining DECT and radiomics to predict cervical lymph node status prior to treatment.

Underwater image enhancement (UIE) presents a significant challenge within computer vision research. Despite the development of numerous UIE algorithms, a thorough and systematic review is still absent. To foster future advancements, we provide a detailed overview of the UIE task from several perspectives. Firstly, we introduce the physical models, data construction processes, evaluation metrics, and loss functions. Secondly, we categorize and discuss recent algorithms based on their contributions, considering six aspects: network architecture, learning strategy, learning stage, auxiliary tasks, domain perspective, and disentanglement fusion. Thirdly, due to the varying experimental setups in the existing literature, a comprehensive and unbiased comparison is currently unavailable. To address this, we perform both quantitative and qualitative evaluations of state-of-the-art algorithms across multiple benchmark datasets. Lastly, we identify key areas for future research in UIE. Predictive maintenance is crucial for improving the reliability of power components and having attracted widespread attention, for which remaining useful life (RUL) prediction is a precondition. Owing to the heterogeneity of the power components, accuracy RUL prediction through different components remains challenging. To make things worse, the structural property of the data itself is also neglected. Herein, take the insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) as the sample, a novel RUL prediction framework is proposed in this paper. In brief, a time window and Radius distance metric function is adopted to generate graph information matrix. Specifically, spatio-temporal fusion graph network (STFGN) is proposed to obtain unique IGBTs data structure information and incorporate past and future moments aging features to construct health index (HI). Then, weakly supervised adversarial learning strategy is considered to realize the cross-domain RUL prediction, which conditional domain adaptation (CDA)-based adversarial method is adopted to reduce distribution discrepancies between distinct domains and weakly supervised training strategy with some target domain labels is also used to enhance positive transfer. Moreover, the proposed method is proved by four transfer tasks and the results show that overcomes the challenge of unavailability of labeled failure samples and outperforms state-of-the-art methods. © 2024, The Authors. Photometric stereo recovers the surface normals of an object from multiple images with varying shading cues, i.e., modeling the relationship between surface orientation and intensity at each pixel. Photometric stereo prevails in superior per-pixel resolution and fine reconstruction details. However, it is a complicated problem because of the non-linear relationship caused by non-Lambertian surface reflectance. Recently, various deep learning methods have shown a powerful ability in the context of photometric stereo against non-Lambertian surfaces. This paper provides a comprehensive review of existing deep learning-based calibrated photometric stereo methods utilizing orthographic cameras and directional light sources. We first analyze these methods from different perspectives, including input processing, supervision, and network architecture. We summarize the performance of deep learning photometric stereo models on the most widely-used benchmark data set. This demonstrates the advanced performance of deep learning-based photometric stereo methods. In this paper, a new integrated scheme is proposed to accurately predict breast cancer, help doctors make early diagnosis and treatment plans, and improve the prognosis of patients. We selects five mainstream machine learning models: support vector machine (SVM), artificial neural network (ANN), random forest (RF), extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) and adaptive boosting (AdaBoost). The Wisconsin Breast Cancer database (WBCD) and Wisconsin Diagnostic Breast Cancer (WDBC) are used as datasets to investigate the predictive performance of these single and ensemble models. Then, we use multiple linear regression method for feature selection (FS), the experimental results show that the change of feature subset will significantly affect the performance of the model. After that, we apply whale optimization algorithm (WOA) to optimize the hyperparameters of the model to improve their prediction performance. In addition, we ensemble these models by stacking, investigate the performance changes of the ensemble model when different models are used as meta learners. Finally, the FS-WOA-Stacking model achieves 99.56% accuracy on WBCD and 99.65% accuracy on WDBC. Compared with the existing breast cancer prediction models, the performance of the proposed model is at an excellent level. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A Survey on Service Route and Time Prediction in Instant Delivery: Taxonomy, Progress, and Prospects

Instant delivery services, such as food delivery and package delivery, have achieved explosive growth in recent years by providing customers with daily-life convenience. An emerging research area within these services is service Route&Time Prediction (RTP), which aims to estimate the future service route as well as the arrival time of a given worker. As one of the most crucial tasks in those service platforms, RTP stands central to enhancing user satisfaction and trimming operational expenditures on these platforms. Despite a plethora of algorithms developed to date, there is no systematic, comprehensive survey to guide researchers in this domain. To fill this gap, our work presents the first comprehensive survey that methodically categorizes recent advances in service route and time prediction. We start by defining the RTP challenge and then delve into the metrics that are often employed. Following that, we scrutinize the existing RTP methodologies, presenting a novel taxonomy of them. We categorize these methods based on three criteria: (i) type of task, subdivided into only-route prediction, only-time prediction, and joint route&time prediction;(ii) model architecture, which encompasses sequence-based and graph-based models;and (iii) learning paradigm, including Supervised Learning (SL) and Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL). Conclusively, we highlight the limitations of current research and suggest prospective avenues. We believe that the taxonomy, progress, and prospects introduced in this paper can significantly promote the development of this field. © 2023, CC BY.
