As a form of a future traffic system,a connected and automated vehicle(CAV)platoon is a typical nonlinear physical *** can communicate with each other and exchange ***,communication failures can change the platoon system *** characterize this change,a dynamic topology-based car-following model and its generalized form are proposed in this ***,a stability analysis method is ***,taking the dynamic cooperative intelligent driver model(DC-IDM)for example,a series of numerical simulations is conducted to analyze the platoon stability in different communication topology *** results show that the communication failures reduce the stability,but information from vehicles that are farther ahead and the use of a larger desired time headway can improve ***,the critical ratio of communication failures required to ensure stability for different driving parameters is studied in this work.

AEMLO: AutoEncoder-Guided Multi-Label Oversampling

Class imbalance significantly impacts the performance of multi-label classifiers. Oversampling is one of the most popular approaches, as it augments instances associated with less frequent labels to balance the class distribution. Existing oversampling methods generate feature vectors of synthetic samples through replication or linear interpolation and assign labels through neighborhood information. Linear interpolation typically generates new samples between existing data points, which may result in insufficient diversity of synthesized samples and further lead to the overfitting issue. Deep learning-based methods, such as AutoEncoders, have been proposed to generate more diverse and complex synthetic samples, achieving excellent performance on imbalanced binary or multi-class datasets. In this study, we introduce AEMLO, an AutoEncoder-guided Oversampling technique specifically designed for tackling imbalanced multi-label data. AEMLO is built upon two fundamental components. The first is an encoder-decoder architecture that enables the model to encode input data into a low-dimensional feature space, learn its latent representations, and then reconstruct it back to its original dimension, thus applying to the generation of new data. The second is an objective function tailored to optimize the sampling task for multi-label scenarios. We show that AEMLO outperforms the existing state-of-the-art methods with extensive empirical studies. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Software defect prediction(SDP)is used to perform the statistical analysis of historical defect data to find out the distribution rule of historical defects,so as to effectively predict defects in the new ***,there are redundant and irrelevant features in the software defect datasets affecting the performance of defect *** order to identify and remove the redundant and irrelevant features in software defect datasets,we propose ReliefF-based clustering(RFC),a clusterbased feature selection ***,the correlation between features is calculated based on the symmetric *** to the correlation degree,RFC partitions features into k clusters based on the k-medoids algorithm,and finally selects the representative features from each cluster to form the final feature *** the experiments,we compare the proposed RFC with classical feature selection algorithms on nine National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA)software defect prediction datasets in terms of area under curve(AUC)and *** experimental results show that RFC can effectively improve the performance of SDP.

Modern microservice systems have become increasingly complicated due to the dynamic and complex interactions and runtime environment. It leads to the system vulnerable to performance issues caused by a variety of reasons, such as the runtime environments, communications, coordinations, or implementations of services. Traces record the detailed execution process of a request through the system and have been widely used in performance issues diagnosis in microservice systems. By identifying the execution processes and attribute value combinations that are common in anomalous traces but rare in normal traces, engineers may localize the root cause of a performance issue into a smaller scope. However, due to the complex structure of traces and the large number of attribute combinations, it is challenging to find the root cause from the huge search space. In this paper, we propose TraceContrast, a trace-based multidimensional root cause localization approach. TraceContrast uses a sequence representation to describe the complex structure of a trace with attributes of each span. Based on the representation, it combines contrast sequential pattern mining and spectrum analysis to localize multidimensional root causes efficiently. Experimental studies on a widely used microservice benchmark show that TraceContrast outperforms existing approaches in both multidimensional and instance-dimensional root cause localization with significant accuracy advantages. Moreover, Trace-Contrast is efficient and its efficiency can be further improved by parallel execution. © 2024 ACM.

The physical world we live in is accelerating digitalization with the vigorous development of Internet of Things (IoT). Following this trend, Web of Things (WoT) further enables fast and efficient creation of various applications that perceive and act on the physical world using standard Web technologies. A popular way for creating WoT applications is Trigger-Action Programming (TAP), which allows users to orchestrate the capabilities of IoT devices in the form of "if trigger, then action". However, existing TAP approaches don't support scenario-centric WoT applications which involve abstract modeling of physical environments and complex spatio-temporal dependencies between events and actions. In this paper, we propose an approach called SCTAP which supports Scenario-Centric Trigger-Action Programming based on software-defined physical environments. SCTAP defines a structured and conceptual representation for physical environments, which provides the required programming abstractions for WoT applications. Based on the representation, SCTAP defines a grammar for specifying scenario-centric WoT applications with spatio-temporal dependencies. Furthermore, we design a service-based architecture for SCTAP which supports the integration of device access, event perception, environment representation, and rule execution in a loosely-coupled and extensible way. We implement SCTAP as a WoT infrastructure and evaluate it with two case studies including a smart laboratory and a smart coffee house. The results confirm the usability, feasibility and efficiency of SCTAP and its implementation. © 2023 ACM.

Nonvolatile optical phase shifter-based coherent neural network accelerator for efficient matrix computations and inference tasks

This paper introduces a coherent optical neural network (NVCONN) accelerator based on nonvolatile optical phase shifters (NVOPS), designed to perform matrix multiplications and inference tasks with high energy efficiency and precision. Initially, a pixelated programmable NVOPS is designed, assisted by low-loss phase change material Sb 2 Se 3 . Each NVOPS can be binary pixelated via pulsed laser direct writing, offering significant reductions in footprint compared to conventional electro-optic and thermo-optic phase shifters. The Mach–Zehnder interferometer (MZI) structure, built with NVOPS, exhibits low insertion loss ( < 0.045 dB), low crosstalk ( < −34 dB), high extinction ratio ( > 30 dB) and arbitrary splitting ratios. By cascading NVOPS-MZIs, a 4 ×  4 matrix-scale NVCONN is constructed. Furthermore, the impact of quantization precision on matrix operations for NVCONN is analyzed under four laser spot sizes: full-precision, 0.1, 0.5, and 1.0 μ m . The simulation results demonstrate that NVCONN achieves high-precision matrix operations in various quantization situations and shows inference accuracy comparable to 64-bit computers in the ResNet-18 and AugLeNet-5 models. The proposed NVCONN achieves a computing density of 2.84 TOPS/mm 2 and an energy efficiency of 1.8 TOPS/W, while maintaining robustness at high data rates (ranging from 10 to 50 Gbps).
