The graph with complex annotations is the most potent data type, whose constantly evolving motivates further exploration of the unsupervised dynamic graph representation. One of the representative paradigms is graph contrastive learning. It constructs self-supervised signals by maximizing the mutual information between the statistic graph's augmentation views. However, the semantics and labels may change within the augmentation process, causing a significant performance drop in downstream tasks. This drawback becomes greatly magnified on dynamic graphs. To address this problem, we designed a simple yet effective framework named CLDG. Firstly, we elaborate that dynamic graphs have temporal translation invariance at different levels. Then, we proposed a sampling layer to extract the temporally-persistent signals. It will encourage the node to maintain consistent local and global representations, i.e., temporal translation invariance under the timespan views. The extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the method on seven datasets by outperforming eight unsupervised state-of-the-art baselines and showing competitiveness against four semi-supervised methods. Compared with the existing dynamic graph method, the number of model parameters and training time is reduced by an average of 2,001.86 times and 130.31 times on seven datasets, respectively. AME4163: Principles of engineering Design is a design, build and test course offered at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, USA. Throughout the semester students are expected to reflect on authentic and immersive experiences and write Take-aways and Learning Statements. At the end of the semester each student submits a summative Semester Learning Essay. Between 2019-2021 we collected about 10,000 Take-aways and Learning Statements from the Semester Learning Essays of nearly 400 students. In this paper, we attempt to help instructors gain insight of what students have learned through these materials and thence improve the delivery of the course in the future. We analyze their Take-aways from summative Semester Learning Essays by using dictionary-based sentiment analysis to assess students' subjective feelings toward what they have learned. The results prove that we gain insight into their learning thereby providing instructors with evidence-based guidance on modifying the course from different perspectives. The method proposed is generalizable to courses that involve authentic immersive experiences. © 2023 IEEE.

Personalized learner modeling uses learners’ historical behavior data to diagnose their cognitive abilities, a process known as Cognitive Diagnosis (CD). This is essential for web-based learning services such as learning resource recommendation and adaptive testing. However, prior studies have shown that CD models may unfairly correlate learners’ abilities with sensitive attributes (e.g., gender, region), leading to biased outcomes. While existing approaches mitigate this issue by decorrelating sensitive attributes from the modeling process, privacy concerns make collecting such attributes impractical. Furthermore, the presence of multiple sensitive attributes complicates fairness improvements. In this paper, we explore how to achieve fair personalized learner modeling without relying on any sensitive attribute input. We introduce a novel fairness objective tailored for personalized learner modeling and design a max-min strategy to facilitate both sensitive information inference and fair CD modeling. In the max step, we infer pseudo-labels by maximizing the fairness objective, while in the min step, we retrain the CD model by minimizing it. Additionally, we provide a theoretical guarantee that our framework reduces the upper bound of fairness generalization error. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed framework significantly outperforms existing methods. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

This paper explores the size-invariance of evaluation metrics in Salient Object Detection (SOD), especially when multiple targets of diverse sizes co-exist in the same image. We observe that current metrics are size-sensitive, where larger objects are focused, and smaller ones tend to be ignored. We argue that the evaluation should be size-invariant because bias based on size is unjustified without additional semantic information. In pursuit of this, we propose a generic approach that evaluates each salient object separately and then combines the results, effectively alleviating the imbalance. We further develop an optimization framework tailored to this goal, achieving considerable improvements in detecting objects of different sizes. Theoretically, we provide evidence supporting the validity of our new metrics and present the generalization analysis of SOD. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. Intrigued by the information management replacing records management phenomenon, this study aimed at shedding light on it. Relying on preserved websites, the study examined relevant contents from 2007 to early 2022. It discovered the battle between records and information, and later on information asset. This battle incurred dazzling changes in managerial considerations, yet the challenges to management – either towards records, information, information and records, or information asset – remained the same. So were the unsatisfactory outcomes. A case seemed perfect to tell the plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose story. It is our hope that future studies can gather mighty strengthen and thus settle down the records-information battle once for all. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Bidirectional Logits Tree: Pursuing Granularity Reconcilement in Fine-Grained Classification

This paper addresses the challenge of Granularity Competition in fine-grained classification tasks, which arises due to the semantic gap between multi-granularity labels. Existing approaches typically develop independent hierarchy-aware models based on shared features extracted from a common base encoder. However, because coarse-grained levels are inherently easier to learn than finer ones, the base encoder tends to prioritize coarse feature abstractions, which impedes the learning of fine-grained features. To overcome this challenge, we propose a novel framework called the Bidirectional Logits Tree (BiLT) for Granularity Reconcilement. The key idea is to develop classifiers sequentially from the finest to the coarsest granularities, rather than parallelly constructing a set of classifiers based on the same input features. In this setup, the outputs of finer-grained classifiers serve as inputs for coarser-grained ones, facilitating the flow of hierarchical semantic information across different granularities. On top of this, we further introduce an Adaptive Intra-Granularity Difference Learning (AIGDL) approach to uncover subtle semantic differences between classes within the same granularity. Machine reading comprehension has been a research focus in natural language processing and intelligence ***,there is a lack of models and datasets for the MRC tasks in the anti-terrorism ***,current research lacks the ability to embed accurate background knowledge and provide precise *** address these two problems,this paper first builds a text corpus and testbed that focuses on the anti-terrorism domain in a semi-automatic ***,it proposes a knowledge-based machine reading comprehension model that fuses domain-related triples from a large-scale encyclopedic knowledge base to enhance the semantics of the *** eliminate knowledge noise that could lead to semantic deviation,this paper uses a mixed mutual ttention mechanism among questions,passages,and knowledge triples to select the most relevant triples before embedding their semantics into the *** results indicate that the proposed approach can achieve a 70.70%EM value and an 87.91%F1 score,with a 4.23%and 3.35%improvement over existing methods,respectively.

The tidal movement of the ocean carries garbage to the shore. The garbage needs to be dealt with in time, otherwise, the pollution of the garbage to the environment will become increasingly serious. According to statistics, plastic garbage accounts for a substantial proportion of marine garbage. This study developed a target detection model for some plastic garbage to help achieve automatic marine garbage capture. Firstly, according to the principle of balanced label distribution, multi-background, and multi-angle, we created an image dataset based on artificial synthesis to solve the problem of insufficient data. Secondly, the CBAM attention module was used for the target detection algorithm Yolov5 to improve the ability of target feature extraction and model generalization. Furthermore, the loss function of bounding box regression CIoU was replaced with SIoU to solve the problems of slow convergence speed and low training efficiency. Finally, the effectiveness of the Yolov5 model was discussed with the analysis of experimental results. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Since extant biomedical ontologies may have different approaches to model biomedical knowledge, the problem of semantic heterogeneity arises. As a key technique to address semantic heterogeneity, ontology matching intends to discover correspondences between semantically related entities of biomedical ontologies. Since the optimal objectives of ontology matching problem, i.e. precision and recall, are often in conflict with each other, it is difficult to find one perfect solution for all the decision-makers. In this work, we further propose a Co-operative NSGA-II (C-NSGA-II) to deal with large-scale biomedical ontology matching problems. In particular, C-NSGA-II divides the original population into multiple subpopulations, and each subpopulation is individually evolved, which aims to increase the diversity of individuals in the population to reduce the probability of early convergence. In addition, C-NSGA-II uses the External Archive (ExA) to collect the dominant individuals for each subpopulation, and on this basis, an adaptive resource allocation is presented to dynamically adjust the subpopulation's scale, which can improve the algorithm's converging speed. The experiment uses the Ontology Alignment Evaluation Initiative (OAEI)'s benchmark and anatomy track to test C-NSGA-II's performance, and the experimental results show that it outperforms OAEI's participants. © 2022 IEEE.

When natural or man-made disasters occur at sea, a maritime unmanned rescue system-of-systems (MURSoSs), as an important guarantee for the safety of people's lives and property, has a rapid response to emergency rescue services. In the design process of MURSoSs, it is often faced with problems such as unexplainable mechanisms and inaccurate modeling due to the characteristics of multi-level coupling and irregular emergence. A design method of MURSoSs based on an attention Transformer is proposed. First, this paper decomposes the MURSoSs into a multi-level organizational structure composed of individual performance, group structure, and overall effectiveness. Second, the maritime unmanned rescue simulation environment is constructed, to obtain the multi-level evolution data of group structure and overall effectiveness under different individual performance, and the attention Transformer is used to mine the functional correlation relationship between levels. Finally, the experimental simulation prediction is carried out by using this function relationship. Taking the design of MURSoSs as an example, the results show that the constructed model accurately quantifies the correlation relationship between levels and effectively reveal the internal logic of the emergence process of maritime rescue. © 2024 IEEE.
