To address the shortcomings of wireless data transmission in aquaculture water quality monitoring, we have developed an intelligent water quality detection device based on the STM32 microcontroller system as the processing unit and TurMass transmission technology. This device can detect water quality in real-time and transmit the data to the user end for real-time monitoring so that users can monitor water quality in real-time. Through rigorous and systematic experimental measurements, the accuracy of the detected data by the device was found to be extremely high, indicating that it can be used in practical applications.

Adaptive PUPM-based HEVC Video Steganography Balancing Embedding Performance and Security

For the prediction unit partition modes (PUPM)-based steganography, a mainstream branch of high efficiency video coding (HEVC) video steganography, striking a balance between embedding performance and security is very challenging. Including the 2N × 2 N PUPMs having the maximum number of PUPMs into data embedding is indeed an effective way of enlarging the embedding capacity, but it necessarily causes a significant decline in security. Therefore, a multi-factor-involved cost function (MFICF) is proposed in this paper to evaluate the embedding cost for modifying each PUPM by comprehensively considering four different aspects affecting the embedding performance and security. With the assistance of MFICF, the 7-ary notational system is combined to use all the 7 types of PUPMs containing 2N × 2N for data embedding, thus enlarging the embedding capacity as well as enhancing the embedding efficiency. The syndrome-trellis code driven by MFICF, named CFSTC, is designed to preferentially select PUPMs with low embedding costs for data embedding, so that the embedding efficiency is largely enhanced. The security is effectively guaranteed by allocating a large embedding cost for modifying 2N × 2N to another type of PUPM. Finally, a lightweight convolutional neural network in combination with gated channel transformation, called GSCNet, is proposed to replace the in-loop filter in HEVC, further optimizing the visual distortion and bitrate increase caused by data embedding. Combining these components above, we design a PUPM-based steganography algorithm, GSAPM. Experimental results show that GSAPM effectively enhances the embedding performance while maintaining high security. © 1999-2012 IEEE.

DRAG: Dynamic Region-Aware GCN for Privacy-Leaking Image Detection

The daily practice of sharing images on social media raises a severe issue about privacy leakage. To address the issue, privacy-leaking image detection is studied recently, with the goal to automatically identify images that may leak privacy. Recent advance on this task benefits from focusing on crucial objects via pretrained object detectors and modeling their correlation. However, these methods have two limitations: 1) they neglect other important elements like scenes, textures, and objects beyond the capacity of pretrained object detectors;2) the correlation among objects is fixed, but a fixed correlation is not appropriate for all the images. To overcome the limitations, we propose the Dynamic Region-Aware Graph Convolutional Network (DRAG) that dynamically finds out crucial regions including objects and other important elements, and models their correlation adaptively for each input image. To find out crucial regions, we cluster spatially-correlated feature channels into several region-aware feature maps. Further, we dynamically model the correlation with the self-attention mechanism and explore the interaction among the regions with a graph convolutional network. The DRAG achieved an accuracy of 87% on the largest dataset for privacy-leaking image detection, which is 10 percentage points higher than the state of the art. The further case study demonstrates that it found out crucial regions containing not only objects but other important elements like textures. Local anatomy for personalised privacy protection

Anonymisation technique has been extensively studied and widely applied for privacy-preserving data publishing. However, most existing methods ignore personal anonymity requirements. In these approaches, the microdata consist of three categories of attribute: explicit-identifier, quasi-identifier and sensitive attribute. In fact, the data sensitivity should be determined by individuals. An attribute is semi-sensitive if it contains both QI and sensitive values. In this paper, we propose a novel anonymisation approach, called local anatomy, to address personalised privacy protection. Local anatomy partitions the tuples who consider the value as sensitive into buckets inside each attribute. We conduct some experiments to illustrate that local anatomy can protect all the sensitive values and preserve great information utility. Additionally, we also present the concept of intelligent anonymisation system as our direction of future work. © 2021 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Temporal Gated Face Alignment Network for Camera-Based Physiological Sensing

The remote photoplethysmography (rPPG) technique enables the estimation of vital signs such as heart rate by analyzing pulse-induced subtle skin color variation from facial videos. Robustly deriving cardiac pulse information with head motion (\eg, rotation and swings) interference, remains a critical challenge, as it inevitably introduces complex noise disturbances such as facial geometric deformation and head motions. Most existing approaches primarily focus on how to extract the weak pulse signals, overlooking the detrimental effects induced by such noises. In response to this, we propose a Temporal Gated Face Alignment Network (TGFAN) to adaptively counteract motion noise in long-term video sequences. As key modules in TGFAN, the bidirectional temporal face alignment block first captures inter-frame motion discrepancies and achieves temporal alignment, and then extracts motion-robust pulse features by spatiotemporal convolution. Furthermore, we also propose a temporal gating mechanism, which can dynamically guide motion-disturbed segments for face alignment to alleviate local temporal interference. Experimental evaluations on four public datasets demonstrate the superior performance of our proposed model under both intra-dataset and cross-dataset tests. How to efficiently and accurately identify rice diseases plays a crucial role in rice planting and production. Deploying large convolutional neural networks in practical applications is challenging due to their complex model parameters, while lightweight networks often compromise accuracy to reduce model size. In this study, we introduce a lightweight and precise network called GM-ShuffleNet for rice disease recognition. Building upon the ShuffleNet V2 network, we integrated the Ghost module and MCA attention mechanism, adjusted the network structure and number of channels, and replaced the ReLU activation function with Mish. Through comparative experiments, the accuracy of GM-ShuffleNet algorithm proposed in this paper reaches 96.20%, which is superior to ShuffleNet V2 and other excellent lightweight networks. In addition, in terms of model complexity comparison, the number of model parameters and FLOPs decreased by 82.54% and 77.44% respectively compared with the original network.

Two-Phase Channel Estimation for RIS-Assisted THz Systems with Beam Split

Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted terahertz (THz) communication is emerging as a key technology to support ultra-high data rates in future sixth-generation networks. However, the acquisition of accurate channel state information (CSI) in such systems is challenging due to the passive nature of RIS and the hybrid beamforming architecture typically employed in THz systems. To address these challenges, we propose a novel low-complexity two-phase channel estimation scheme for RIS-assisted THz systems with beam split effect. In the proposed scheme, we first estimate the full CSI over a small subset of subcarriers, then extract angular information at both the base station and RIS. Subsequently, we recover the full CSI across remaining subcarriers by determining the corresponding spatial directions and angle-excluded coefficients. Theoretical analysis and simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves superior performance in terms of normalized mean-square error while significantly reducing computational complexity compared to existing algorithms. Sampling is a fundamental method for generating data *** many data analysis methods are developed based on probability distributions,maintaining distributions when sampling can help to ensure good data analysis ***,sampling a minimum subset while maintaining probability distributions is still a *** this paper,we decompose a joint probability distribution into a product of conditional probabilities based on Bayesian networks and use the chi-square test to formulate a sampling problem that requires that the sampled subset pass the distribution test to ensure the ***,a heuristic sampling algorithm is proposed to generate the required subset by designing two scoring functions:one based on the chi-square test and the other based on likelihood *** on four types of datasets with a size of 60000 show that when the significant difference level,a,is set to 0.05,the algorithm can exclude 99.9%,99.0%,93.1%and 96.7%of the samples based on their Bayesian networks-ASIA,ALARM,HEPAR2,and ANDES,*** subsets of the same size are sampled,the subset generated by our algorithm passes all the distribution tests and the average distribution difference is approximately 0.03;by contrast,the subsets generated by random sampling pass only 83.8%of the tests,and the average distribution difference is approximately 0.24.

Unsupervised statistical text simplification using pre-trained language modeling for initialization

Unsupervised text simplification has attracted much attention due to the scarcity of high-quality parallel text simplification corpora. Recent an unsupervised statistical text simplification based on phrase-based machine translation system (UnsupPBMT) achieved good performance, which initializes the phrase tables using the similar words obtained by word embedding modeling. Since word embedding modeling only considers the relevance between words, the phrase table in UnsupPBMT contains a lot of dissimilar words. In this paper, we propose an unsupervised statistical text simplification using pre-trained language modeling BERT for initialization. Specifically, we use BERT as a general linguistic knowledge base for predicting similar words. Experimental results show that our method outperforms the state-of-the-art unsupervised text simplification methods on three benchmarks, even outperforms some supervised baselines.

dataset distillation offers a lightweight synthetic dataset for fast network training with promising test accuracy. To imitate the performance of the original dataset, most approaches employ bi-level optimization and the distillation space relies on the matching architecture. Nevertheless, these approaches either suffer significant computational costs on large-scale datasets or experience performance decline on cross-architectures. We advocate for designing an economical dataset distillation framework that is independent of the matching architectures. With empirical observations, we argue that constraining the consistency of the real and synthetic image spaces will enhance the cross-architecture generalization. Motivated by this, we introduce dataset Distillation via Disentangled Diffusion Model (D4M), an efficient framework for dataset distillation. Compared to architecture-dependent methods, D4M employs latent diffusion model to guarantee consistency and incorporates label information into category prototypes. The distilled datasets are versatile, eliminating the need for repeated generation of distinct datasets for various architectures. Through comprehensive experiments, D4M demonstrates superior performance and robust generalization, surpassing the SOTA methods across most aspects. Copyright © 2024, The Authors.
