Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted terahertz (THz) communication is emerging as a key technology to support ultra-high data rates in future sixth-generation networks. However, the acquisition of accurate channel state information (CSI) in such systems is challenging due to the passive nature of RIS and the hybrid beamforming architecture typically employed in THz systems. To address these challenges, we propose a novel low-complexity two-phase channel estimation scheme for RIS-assisted THz systems with beam split effect. In the proposed scheme, we first estimate the full CSI over a small subset of subcarriers, then extract angular information at both the base station and RIS. Subsequently, we recover the full CSI across remaining subcarriers by determining the corresponding spatial directions and angle-excluded coefficients. Theoretical analysis and simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves superior performance in terms of normalized mean-square error while significantly reducing computational complexity compared to existing algorithms. Unsupervised statistical text simplification using pre-trained language modeling for initialization

Unsupervised text simplification has attracted much attention due to the scarcity of high-quality parallel text simplification corpora. Recent an unsupervised statistical text simplification based on phrase-based machine translation system (UnsupPBMT) achieved good performance, which initializes the phrase tables using the similar words obtained by word embedding modeling. Since word embedding modeling only considers the relevance between words, the phrase table in UnsupPBMT contains a lot of dissimilar words. In this paper, we propose an unsupervised statistical text simplification using pre-trained language modeling BERT for initialization. Specifically, we use BERT as a general linguistic knowledge base for predicting similar words. Experimental results show that our method outperforms the state-of-the-art unsupervised text simplification methods on three benchmarks, even outperforms some supervised baselines.

dataset distillation offers a lightweight synthetic dataset for fast network training with promising test accuracy. To imitate the performance of the original dataset, most approaches employ bi-level optimization and the distillation space relies on the matching architecture. Nevertheless, these approaches either suffer significant computational costs on large-scale datasets or experience performance decline on cross-architectures. We advocate for designing an economical dataset distillation framework that is independent of the matching architectures. With empirical observations, we argue that constraining the consistency of the real and synthetic image spaces will enhance the cross-architecture generalization. Motivated by this, we introduce dataset Distillation via Disentangled Diffusion Model (D4M), an efficient framework for dataset distillation. Compared to architecture-dependent methods, D4M employs latent diffusion model to guarantee consistency and incorporates label information into category prototypes. The distilled datasets are versatile, eliminating the need for repeated generation of distinct datasets for various architectures. Through comprehensive experiments, D4M demonstrates superior performance and robust generalization, surpassing the SOTA methods across most aspects. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. As one of the most valuable technologies,blockchains have received extensive attention from researchers and industry circles and are widely applied in various ***,data on a blockchain cannot be *** a result,it is impossible to clean invalid and sensitive data and correct erroneous ***,to a certain extent,hinders the application of blockchains in supply chains and Internet of *** address this problem,this study presents a deletable and modifiable blockchain scheme(DMBlockChain)based on record verification trees(RVTrees)and the multisignature scheme.(1)In this scheme,an RVTree structure is designed and added to the block *** RVTree can not only ensure that a record is true and valid but,owing to its unique binary structure,also verify whether modification and deletion requests are valid.(2)In DMBlockChain,the multisignature mechanism is also *** mechanism requires the stakeholders’signatures for each modification or deletion request and thus ensures that a record will not be modified arbitrarily.A user’s request is deemed valid only if it is dually verified by the RVTree and the multisignature *** analysis finds that DMBlockChain can provide a secure and valid means for modifying and deleting records in a block while ensuring the integrity of the block and that DMBlockChain can effectively save space in some scenarios that require frequent records modification.

Image registration is extensively utilized in industrial applications. However, specific challenges inherent to these environments—such as low texture, significant displacement, and poor lighting conditions—complicate the registration process. This paper introduces a structure-aware loss module tailored to the unique characteristics of industrial images. This module promotes the network’s focus on salient regions while emphasizing structural features. Additionally, it is designed as a plug-in component, facilitating integration with any loss function and homography estimation method. We develop an unsupervised registration network and create an industrial dataset to evaluate the module’s effectiveness. A series of experiments demonstrate that our structure-aware module significantly enhances registration performance.

Analysis on the Transmission of International Oil Price to China’s Price Index--Based on Granger Causality Network

This paper uses complex network theory and Granger causality method to construct Granger Causality Network among price indices (PIGCN), specifically based on crude oil price and China’s domestic price index from a systematic perspective and provides a statistical physical method to analyze conduction fluctuations. This paper selects four typical price indices in China, including 36 sub price indices as samples for empirical research. Through the analysis of the PIGCN structure, we have analyzed the volatility transmission path of the international crude oil price and Chinese domestic price index, and further revealed the dynamic relationship among the price indices. Also, we have put forward some policy recommendations to better monitor the spread of price fluctuation risks.

Sentence semantic matching requires an agent to determine the semantic relation between two sentences, where much recent progress has been made by advancement of representation learning techniques and inspiration of human behaviors. Among all these methods, attention mechanism plays an essential role by selecting important parts effectively. However, current attention methods either focus on all the important parts in a static way or only select one important part at one attention step dynamically, which leaves a large space for further improvement. To this end, in this paper, we design a novel Dynamic Gaussian Attention Network (DGA-Net) to combine the advantages of current static and dynamic attention methods. More specifically, we first leverage pre-trained language model to encode the input sentences and construct semantic representations from a global perspective. Then, we develop a Dynamic Gaussian Attention (DGA) to dynamically capture the important parts and corresponding local contexts from a detailed perspective. Finally, we combine the global information and detailed local information together to decide the semantic relation of sentences comprehensively and precisely. Extensive experiments on two popular sentence semantic matching tasks demonstrate that our proposed DGA-Net is effective in improving the ability of attention mechanism. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

With the advancement of deep learning models nowadays, they have successfully applied in the semi-supervised medical image segmentation where there are few annotated medical images and a large number of unlabeled ones. A representative approach in this regard is the semi-supervised method based on consistency regularization, which improves model training by imposing consistency constraints (perturbations) on unlabeled data. However, the perturbations in this kind of methods are often artificially designed, which may introduce biases unfavorable to the model learning in the handling of medical image segmentation. On the other hand, the majority of such methods often overlook the supervision in the Encoder stage of training and primarily focus on the outcomes in the later stages, potentially leading to chaotic learning in the initial phase and subsequently impacting the learning process of the model in the later stages. At the meanwhile, they miss the intrinsic spatial-frequency information of the images. Therefore, in this study, we propose a new semi-supervised medical image segmentation approach based on frequency domain aware stable consistency regularization. Specifically, to avoid the bias introduced by artificially setting perturbations, we first utilize the inherent frequency domain information of images, including both high and low frequencies, as the consistency constraint. Secondly, we incorporate supervision in the Encoder stage of model training to ensure that the model does not fail to learn due to the disruption of the original feature space caused by strong augmentation. Finally, extensive experimentation validates the effectiveness of our semi-supervised approach.

The Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) systems use sensors to detect the daily behavior of older adults and provide necessary assistance based on changes in their cognitive status and physical functions, thus enabling older adults to maintain their independence at home. However, the effectiveness of the AAL systems depends on the accuracy of the data provided by sensors. Namely, when a human error or a hardware failure occurs, the activity recognition model can become inaccurate. This inaccuracy hinders the identification of critical and potentially life-threatening activities. Although there are many methods for cleaning sensor data, there is no method for binary sensors deployed in smart homes. By considering noisy sensor events and unintentional forgetting of turning off the device, this paper proposes two clustering-based methods for denoising and splitting binary sensor events to address possible inaccuracy due to the two mentioned problems. The effectiveness of the proposed methods is verified by the experiments using four machine learning models and three real-world smart home datasets and adopting different sensor configurations. The experimental results demonstrate that compared to the original unprocessed datasets, by combining the two proposed methods, the average accuracy and F-measure are improved by 15.00% and 17.25%, respectively. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Smart Contract Vulnerability Detection Based on Semantic Graph and Residual Graph Convolutional Networks with Edge Attention

It is imperative to assure the security of smart contracts via intelligent vulnerability detection tools before deploying smart contracts on blockchains. The existing deep learning-based approaches fail to effectively capture the rich syntax and semantic information embedded in smart contracts. In this paper, we detect smart contract vulnerabilities at the function level by constructing a novel semantic graph (SG) for each function and learning the SGs using a new graph convolutional network EA-RGCN. Our proposed method consists of three stages. In the first stage, we create the SG which characterizes rich data-data, instruction-instruction and instruction-data relationships in the function code. In the second stage, we propose EA-RGCN which contains three parts: node and edge representation via word2vec, content feature extraction with a residual GCN (RGCN) module, and semantic feature extraction using an edge attention (EA) module. Finally, we concatenate the code content features and the semantic features to obtain the global code feature and use a Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) to identify whether the function is vulnerable. We conduct experiments on the dataset constructed from real-world smart contracts. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed semantic graph and the EA-RGCN model can achieve superior performance. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.
