Hierarchical features-based targeted aspect extraction from online reviews

With the prevalence of online review websites, large-scale data promote the necessity of focused analysis. This task aims to capture the information that is highly relevant to a specific aspect. However, the broad scope of the aspects of the various products makes this task overarching but challenging. A commonly used solution is to modify the topic models with additional information to capture the features for a specific aspect (referred to as a targeted aspect). However, the existing topic models, either perform the full analysis to capture features as many as possible or estimate the similarity to capture features as coherent as possible, overlook the fine-grained semantic relations between the features, resulting in the captured features coarse and confusing. In this paper, we propose a novel Hierarchical Features-based Topic Model (HFTM) to extract targeted aspects from online reviews, then to capture the aspect-specific features. Specifically, our model can not only capture the direct features posing target-to-feature semantics but also capture the latent features posing feature-to-feature semantics. The experiments conducted on real-world datasets demonstrate that HFTMl outperforms the state-of-the-art baselines in terms of both aspect extraction and document classification. © 2021 - IOS Press. This study suggests a solution to the routing optimization insufficiency based on the reverse elite sparrow search algorithm (RESSA) for energy balancing and network lifetime prolonging in wireless sensor networks (WSN). The node’s consumption and the remaining energy priority to balance consumption in the data forwarding to the cluster head are considered the optimal path evaluation function. The obtained results of the experimental the suggested scheme are compared with the other methods show that the proposed scheme increases data forwarding round numbers and consumes less energy, the remaining energy more, and higher efficiency of node energy consumption. © The Authors.

The position and velocity estimation of underwater moving targets is an important part of the application of underwater sensor networks. The commonly used fusion of time difference of arrival (TDOA) and angle of arrival (AOA) can only roughly estimate the target position, but also has some limitations for nonlinear problems. So in order to overcome the nonlinear problem and improve the accuracy of underwater target *** on TDOA and AOA, this paper adopts a three-step location method which combines frequency difference of arrival (FDOA).At the same time, the whale algorithm is used to optimize the measurement error based on the weighted least square method (Tswls). Finally, the experimental results show that compared with TDOA location method and tdoa/aoa hybrid location algorithm, this method is superior to the above methods in the accuracy and bias of position and velocity estimation. © 2022 IEEE.

Collaborative Ontology Matching With Dual Population Genetic Programming and Active Meta-Learning

Ontology provides a structured language to encapsulate domain-specific knowledge and harmonize diverse data. Ontology matching identifies similar entities in distinct ontologies, facilitating knowledge integration and information exchange. Similarity features are crucial for ontology matching by measuring entity resemblance, but noisy and redundant features can obscure relevant ones, reducing matching quality. To improve the accuracy of matching results, we propose a dual population genetic programming with an active meta-learning to build a high-quality similarity feature, which owns three novel components. First, a dual population genetic programming is developed to construct high-level similarity feature with a two-layer individual representation, a dual population based co-evolutionary mechanism, and a novel fitness function based on partial standard alignment. Second, a new active learning model is presented to update the partial standard alignment through an efficient interactive procedure, guiding the algorithm towards building more reliable similarity features. Finally, a weighted random forest meta-learning model is designed to train the expert vote aggregation model with their historical behaviors, and fine-tunes the model's performance with a compact genetic algorithm. Experimental results on the Ontology Alignment Evaluation Initiative's interactive matching tasks demonstrate that our method consistently achieves higher accuracy and better efficiency compared to advanced matching techniques across various expert error rates. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

Diffusion models are powerful generative models, and this capability can also be applied to discrimination. The inner activations of a pre-trained diffusion model can serve as features for discriminative tasks, namely, diffusion feature. We discover that diffusion feature has been hindered by a hidden yet universal phenomenon that we call content shift. To be specific, there are content differences between features and the input image, such as the exact shape of a certain object. We locate the cause of content shift as one inherent characteristic of diffusion models, which suggests the broad existence of this phenomenon in diffusion feature. Further empirical study also indicates that its negative impact is not negligible even when content shift is not visually perceivable. Hence, we propose to suppress content shift to enhance the overall quality of diffusion features. Specifically, content shift is related to the information drift during the process of recovering an image from the noisy input, pointing out the possibility of turning off-the-shelf generation techniques into tools for content shift suppression. We further propose a practical guideline named GATE to efficiently evaluate the potential benefit of a technique and provide an implementation of our methodology. Despite the simplicity, the proposed approach has achieved superior results on various tasks and datasets, validating its potential as a generic booster for diffusion features. When natural or man-made disasters occur at sea, a maritime unmanned rescue system-of-systems (MURSoSs), as an important guarantee for the safety of people's lives and property, has a rapid response to emergency rescue services. In the design process of MURSoSs, it is often faced with problems such as unexplainable mechanisms and inaccurate modeling due to the characteristics of multi-level coupling and irregular emergence. A design method of MURSoSs based on an attention Transformer is proposed. First, this paper decomposes the MURSoSs into a multi-level organizational structure composed of individual performance, group structure, and overall effectiveness. Second, the maritime unmanned rescue simulation environment is constructed, to obtain the multi-level evolution data of group structure and overall effectiveness under different individual performance, and the attention Transformer is used to mine the functional correlation relationship between levels. Finally, the experimental simulation prediction is carried out by using this function relationship. Taking the design of MURSoSs as an example, the results show that the constructed model accurately quantifies the correlation relationship between levels and effectively reveal the internal logic of the emergence process of maritime rescue.

Based on the authors’ previous work on the research on the evaluation of artificial intelligence (AI) intelligence quotient and the Standard Intelligent Model, this paper proposes three laws of intelligence for interpreting the concepts of intelligence, wisdom, consciousness, life and non-life. The first law is called "M Law of Intelligence" where any Agent can be regarded as a system that has the abilities to input, output, storage (master) and creative (innovate) knowledge. The second law is called "Ω Law of Intelligence" in which any Agent is affected by new "forces" FΩ and Fα derived in this paper, which evolve to Ωpoint whose knowledge processing ability is infinite, or converge to αpoint whose knowledge processing ability is zero. The third law is called "Α Law of Intelligence", that is, when an Agent changes surrounding αpoint, the entire Universe relative to the Agent will also change between infinity and zero. The Three Laws need to be validated by a biochemical experiment method, an AI system intelligence evaluation experiment method or the computer program simulation experiment method. © 2020, Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

This study aims to clarify the contours of artificial intelligence (AI) and present how it has evolved in different publication venues in the different stages of its development. Based on the noun phrases extracted from scientific papers of AI, the authors constructed the co-occurrence network of noun phrases to visualize the context of AI. There exists a tension between the original descriptive concept of AI as defined initially in the workshop at Dartmouth College and the relatively recent, vague, and extensible concept of AI. AI is used as a technique or boundary object by different scientific publication venues. This paper creatively applies the boundary object theory to clarify the contours of the concept of AI. Besides, the results will bridge the gap between different stakeholders (e.g., AI researchers, government policy makers, and business entities) in different communities together and promote the efficient and effective discussion and communication about AI. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Adaptive Loose Optimization for Robust Question Answering

Question answering methods are well-known for leveraging data bias, such as the language prior in visual question answering and the position bias in machine reading comprehension (extractive question answering). Current debiasing methods often come at the cost of significant in-distribution performance to achieve favorable out-of-distribution generalization ability, while non-debiasing methods sacrifice a considerable amount of out-of-distribution performance in order to obtain high in-distribution performance. Therefore, it is challenging for them to deal with the complicated changing real-world situations. In this paper, we propose a simple yet effective novel loss function with adaptive loose optimization, which seeks to make the best of both worlds for question answering. Our main technical contribution is to reduce the loss adaptively according to the ratio between the previous and the current optimization state on mini-batch training data. This loose optimization can be used to prevent non-debiasing methods from overlearning data bias while enabling debiasing methods to maintain slight bias learning. Experiments on the visual question answering datasets, including VQA v2, VQA-CP v1, VQA-CP v2, GQA-OOD, and the extractive question answering dataset SQuAD demonstrate that our approach enables QA methods to obtain state-of-the-art in- and out-of-distribution performance in most cases. Recently, digital economy in social science has become increasingly significant. A well-constructed evaluation structure could generally and promptly describe and reveal its overall social digitalization development. Building on existent researches, this paper improves the evaluation system, which comprises four first-level indicators and thirty-one second-level indicators. Notably, this paper innovatively incorporates higher education into digital innovation of the evaluation. The Entropy method is utilized to assign weights to various indicators in an objective way, with employing the TOPSIS approach to prioritize the development of digital economy in places based on the closeness to the ideal solution. By analysing related data related from 31 provinces in China between 2017 to 2021, this paper greatly finds: Firstly, the development of digital economy vary significantly across provinces, with most provinces at a relatively poor level, indicating considerable potential for overall growth; Secondly, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shandong consistently ranked in the top four from 2017 to 2021, reflecting their specific development attributes and their emphasis on digital economy; Thirdly, significant disparities exist both between regions and among provinces. Consequently, this paper suggests establishing a comprehensive national digital economy development plan, formulating region-specific digital economy policies tailored to local conditions, and encouraging leading provinces to actively share experiences with other provinces.
