In recent years, instance segmentation has garnered significant attention across various applications. However, training a fully-supervised instance segmentation model requires costly both instance-level and pixel-level annotations. In contrast, weakly-supervised instance segmentation methods, such as those using image-level class labels or point labels, often struggle to satisfy the accuracy and recall requirements of practical scenarios. In this paper, we propose a novel paradigm called Synthetic Instance Segmentation (SISeg). SISeg achieves instance segmentation results by leveraging image masks generated by existing semantic segmentation models, and it is highly efficient as we do not require additional training for semantic segmentation or the use of instance-level image annotations. In other words, the proposed model does not need extra manpower or higher computational expenses. Specifically, we first obtain a semantic segmentation mask of the input image via an existent semantic segmentation model. Then, we calculate a displacement field vector for each pixel based on the segmentation mask, which can indicate representations belonging to the same class but different instances, i.e., obtaining the instance-level object information. Finally, the instance segmentation results are refined by a learnable category-agnostic object boundary branch. Extensive experimental results on two challenging datasets highlight the effectiveness of SISeg in achieving competitive results when compared to state-of-the-art methods, especially fully-supervised methods. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) plays an important role in medical diagnosis, generating petabytes of image data annually in large hospitals. This voluminous data stream requires a significant amount of network bandwidth and extensive storage infrastructure. Additionally, local data processing demands substantial manpower and hardware investments. data isolation across different healthcare institutions hinders cross-institutional collaboration in clinics and research. In this work, we anticipate an innovative MRI system and its four generations that integrate emerging distributed cloud computing, 6G bandwidth, edge computing, federated learning, and blockchain technology. This system is called Cloud-MRI, aiming at solving the problems of MRI data storage security, transmission speed, AI algorithm maintenance, hardware upgrading, and collaborative work. The workflow commences with the transformation of k-space raw data into the standardized Imaging Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine Raw data (ISMRMRD) format. Then, the data are uploaded to the cloud or edge nodes for fast image reconstruction, neural network training, and automatic analysis. Then, the outcomes are seamlessly transmitted to clinics or research institutes for diagnosis and other services. The Cloud-MRI system will save the raw imaging data, reduce the risk of data loss, facilitate inter-institutional medical collaboration, and finally improve diagnostic accuracy and work efficiency. Since the concern of privacy leakage extremely discourages user participation in sharing data, federated learning has gradually become a promising technique for both academia and industry for achieving collaborative learning without leaking information about the local data. Unfortunately, most federated learning solutions cannot efficiently verify the execution of each participant's local machine learning model and protect the privacy of user data, simultaneously. In this article, we first propose a Zero-knowledge Proof-based Federated Learning (ZKP-FL) scheme on blockchain. It leverages zero-knowledge proof for both the computation of local data and the aggregation of local model parameters, aiming to verify the computation process without requiring the plaintext of the local data. We further propose a Practical ZKP-FL (PZKP-FL) scheme to support fraction and non-linear operations. Specifically, we explore a Fraction-Integer mapping function, and use Taylor expansion to efficiently handle non-linear operations while maintaining the accuracy of the federated learning model. We also analyze the security of PZKP-FL. Performance analysis demonstrates that the whole running time of the PZKP-FL scheme is approximately less than one minute in parallel execution. In the case of power grid cascading trip, this study puts forward a strategy to prevent cascading trip by changing the output of generator set. Firstly, according to the specific performance of the power grid under the cascade tripping, combined with the action behavior of the line current-type backup protection, and an expression equation for measuring the safety level index between the power grid and the cascading trip failure is given. Secondly, the vulnerable branch is found out through the safety level index, the output of the key power generation nodes on the branch is taken as the optimization variable, and the optimization model is established to improve the safety level index under the chain trip of the power grid. Finally, a combination of sensitivity analysis and particle swarm optimization(PSO) was used to analyze an example on the IEEE-39 node system. The results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the model and method, and provide a reference for preventing chain trip accidents. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

An ontology automation construction scheme for Chinese e-government thesaurus optimizing

To optimize the term hierarchy in the manual e-government thesaurus, we combine the mainstream knowledge organization technology to form a complete set of ontology automation construction scheme. We build an e-government knowledge base by using subject words in the Comprehensive E-government Thesaurus as the term set and encyclopedia text as the corpus. The specific work includes the extraction of semantic features from the bag-of-words model, determination of the number of clusters by linear and nonlinear dimensionality reduction, division of terms by spectral clustering, social network analysis to determine the class label, and storing knowledge ontology via OWL. The recall rate of term hierarchy in the ontology is excellent, indicating the ontology has good knowledge extensibility, and also proving the efficiency of the scheme proposed in this work. Besides, the application model of a term hierarchy in information retrieval can show a richer semantic relation than the original thesaurus to guide the retrieval extension of government information resources. 83rd Annual Meeting of the Association for Information Science & Technology October 25-29, 2020. Aiming at the cascading fault phenomenon of power system, this paper analyzes the disturbed branches involved in the initial fault and their relationship with the power generating nodes. Firstly, according to the performance of the initial fault branch in the cascading fault phenomenon and the action of relay protection, an expression form of evaluating the severity of the initial fault branch is given. Secondly, the relationship between the current of the residual system branch and the injection power of the nodes after the initial fault removal is analyzed. Then, on the basis of synthesizing the severity of the disturbed branch and its correlation with the power generating nodes, the key power generating nodes on the seriously disturbed branch are selected by clustering analysis. Finally, based on the key power generation nodes, the optimal power generation output model considering the power generation operation cost was established, the model was solved by particle swarm optimization (PSO), the model was simulated by IEEE39 bus system in MATLAB environment, and the correctness of the established model and method was verified. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Triplet learning, i.e. learning from triplet data, has attracted much attention in computer vision tasks with an extremely large number of categories, e.g., face recognition and person re-identification. Albeit with rapid progress in designing and applying triplet learning algorithms, there is a lacking study on the theoretical understanding of their generalization performance. To fill this gap, this paper investigates the generalization guarantees of triplet learning by leveraging the stability analysis. Specifically, we establish the first general high-probability generalization bound for the triplet learning algorithm satisfying the uniform stability, and then 1 obtain the excess risk bounds of the order (Equation presented). for both stochastic gradient descent (SGD) and regularized risk minimization (RRM), where 2n is approximately equal to the number of training samples. Moreover, an optimistic generalization bound in expectation as fast as O(n−1) is derived for RRM in a low noise case via the on-average stability analysis. Finally, our results are applied to triplet metric learning to characterize its theoretical underpinning. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

We propose a generalized framework for block-structured nonconvex optimization, which can be applied to structured subgraph detection in interdependent networks, such as multi-layer networks, temporal networks, networks of networks, and many others. Specifically, we design an effective, efficient, and parallelizable projection algorithm, namely Graph Block-structured Gradient Projection (GBGP), to optimize a general non-linear function subject to graph-structured constraints. We prove that our algorithm: 1) runs in nearly-linear time on the network size;2) enjoys a theoretical approximation guarantee. Moreover, we demonstrate how our framework can be applied to two very practical applications and conduct comprehensive experiments to show the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposed algorithm. Crowdsourcing is a cheap and popular method to solve problems that are difficult for computers to handle. Due to the differences in ability among workers on crowdsourcing platforms, existing research use aggregation strategies to deal with the labels of different workers to improve the utility of crowdsourcing data. However, most of these studies are based on probabilistic graphical models, which have problems such as difficulty in setting initial parameters. This paper proposes a novel crowdsourcing method Truth Inference based on Graph Embedding (TIGE) for single-choice questions, the method draws on the idea of graph autoencoder, constructs feature vectors for each crowdsourcing task, embeds the relationship between crowdsourcing tasks and workers in graphs, then uses graph neural networks to convert crowdsourcing problems into graph node prediction problems. The feature vectors are continuously optimized in the convolutional layer to obtain the final result. Compared with the six state-of-the-art algorithms on real-world datasets, our method has significant advantages in accuracy and F1-score.

Multivariate time series (MTS) classification has been regarded as one of the most challenging problems in data mining due to the difficulty in modeling the correlation of variables and samples. In addition, high-dimensional MTS modeling has a large time and space consumption. This paper proposes a novel method, Gaussian Model-based Fully Convolutional Networks (GM-FCN), to improve the performance of high-dimensional MTS classification. Each original MTS is converted into multivariate Gaussian model parameters as the input of FCN. These parameters effectively capture the correlation be-tween MTS variables and significantly reduce the data scale by aligning an MTS size to its dimension. FCN is designed to learn more in-depth features of MTS based on these parameters for modeling the correlation between samples. Thus, GM-FCN can not only model the correlation between variables, but also the correlation between samples. We compare GM-FCN with nine state-of-the-art MTS classification methods, INN-ED, INN-DTW-i, INN-DTW-D, KLD-GMC, MLP, ResNet, Encoder, MCNN, and MCDCNN, on four high-dimensional public datasets, experimen-tal results show that the accuracy of G M - FCN is significantly superior to the others. Besides, the training time of GM-FCN is dozens of times faster than FCN using the original equal-length MTS data as input.
