PEJA:Progressive Energy-Efficient Join Processing for Sensor Networks

Sensor networks are widely used in many applications to collaboratively collect information from the physical environment. In these applications, the exploration of the relationship and linkage of sensing data within multiple regions can be naturally expressed by joining tuples in these regions. However, the highly distributed and resource-constraint nature of the network makes join a challenging query. In this paper, we address the problem of processing join query among different regions progressively and energy-efficiently in sensor networks. The proposed algorithm PEJA （Progressive Energy-efficient Join Algorithm） adopts an event-driven strategy to output the joining results as soon as possible, and alleviates the storage shortage problem in the in-network nodes. It also installs filters in the joining regions to prune unmatchable tuples in the early processing phase, saving lots of unnecessary transmissions. Extensive experiments on both synthetic and real world data sets indicate that the PEJA scheme outperforms other join algorithms, and it is effective in reducing the number of transmissions and the delay of query results during the join processing.

UVTM: Universal Vehicle Trajectory Modeling with ST Feature Domain Generation

Vehicle movement is frequently captured in the form of GPS trajectories, i.e., sequences of timestamped GPS locations. Such data is widely used for various tasks such as travel-time estimation, trajectory recovery, and trajectory prediction. A universal vehicle trajectory model could be applied to different tasks, removing the need to maintain multiple specialized models, thereby reducing computational and storage costs. However, creating such a model is challenging when the integrity of trajectory features is compromised, i.e., in scenarios where only partial features are available or the trajectories are sparse. To address these challenges, we propose the Universal Vehicle Trajectory Model (UVTM), which can effectively adapt to different tasks without excessive retraining. UVTM incorporates two specialized designs. First, it divides trajectory features into three distinct domains. Each domain can be masked and generated independently to accommodate tasks with only partially available features. Second, UVTM is pre-trained by reconstructing dense, feature-complete trajectories from sparse, feature-incomplete counterparts, enabling strong performance even when the integrity of trajectory features is compromised. Experiments involving four representative trajectory-related tasks on three real-world vehicle trajectory datasets provide insight into the performance of UVTM and offer evidence that it is capable of meeting its objectives. © 1989-2012 IEEE.

With the advancement of deep learning models nowadays, they have successfully applied in the semi-supervised medical image segmentation where there are few annotated medical images and a large number of unlabeled ones. A representative approach in this regard is the semi-supervised method based on consistency regularization, which improves model training by imposing consistency constraints (perturbations) on unlabeled data. However, the perturbations in this kind of methods are often artificially designed, which may introduce biases unfavorable to the model learning in the handling of medical image segmentation. On the other hand, the majority of such methods often overlook the supervision in the Encoder stage of training and primarily focus on the outcomes in the later stages, potentially leading to chaotic learning in the initial phase and subsequently impacting the learning process of the model in the later stages. At the meanwhile, they miss the intrinsic spatial-frequency information of the images. Therefore, in this study, we propose a new semi-supervised medical image segmentation approach based on frequency domain aware stable consistency regularization. Specifically, to avoid the bias introduced by artificially setting perturbations, we first utilize the inherent frequency domain information of images, including both high and low frequencies, as the consistency constraint. Secondly, we incorporate supervision in the Encoder stage of model training to ensure that the model does not fail to learn due to the disruption of the original feature space caused by strong augmentation. Finally, extensive experimentation validates the effectiveness of our semi-supervised approach.

SwimVG: Step-wise Multimodal Fusion and Adaption for Visual Grounding

Visual grounding aims to ground an image region through natural language, which heavily relies on cross-modal alignment. Most existing methods transfer visual/linguistic knowledge separately by fully fine-tuning uni-modal pre-trained models, followed by a simple stack of visual-language transformers for multimodal fusion. However, these approaches not only limit adequate interaction between visual and linguistic contexts, but also incur significant computational costs. Therefore, to address these issues, we explore a step-wise multimodal fusion and adaption framework, namely SwimVG. Specifically, SwimVG proposes step-wise multimodal prompts (Swip) and cross-modal interactive adapters (CIA) for visual grounding, replacing the cumbersome transformer stacks for multimodal fusion. Swip can improve the alignment between the vision and language representations step by step, in a token-level fusion manner. In addition, weight-level CIA further promotes multimodal fusion by cross-modal interaction. Swip and CIA are both parameter-efficient paradigms, and they fuse the cross-modal features from shallow to deep layers gradually. Experimental results on four widely-used benchmarks demonstrate that SwimVG achieves remarkable abilities and considerable benefits in terms of efficiency. Collaborative perception has attracted growing interest from academia and industry due to its potential to enhance perception accuracy, safety, and robustness in autonomous driving through multi-agent information fusion. With the advancement of Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication, numerous collaborative perception datasets have emerged, varying in cooperation paradigms, sensor configurations, data sources, and application scenarios. However, the absence of systematic summarization and comparative analysis hinders effective resource utilization and standardization of model evaluation. As the first comprehensive review focused on collaborative perception datasets, this work reviews and compares existing resources from a multi-dimensional perspective. We categorize datasets based on cooperation paradigms, examine their data sources and scenarios, and analyze sensor modalities and supported tasks. A detailed comparative analysis is conducted across multiple dimensions. We also outline key challenges and future directions, including dataset scalability, diversity, domain adaptation, standardization, privacy, and the integration of large language models. Robust Quantum Feature Selection With Sparse Optimization Circuit

High-dimensional data has long been a notoriously challenging issue. Existing quantum dimension reduction technology primarily focuses on quantum principal component analysis. However, there are only a few studies on quantum feature selection (QFS) algorithms, and these algorithms are often not robust. Additionally, there are limited quantum circuits specifically designed for feature selection, and they still cannot address the objective function based on sparse learning. To address these issues, this paper proposes a robust QFS algorithm by designing a novel sparse optimization circuit. Specifically, we first apply sparse regularization and least squares loss to construct the proposed objective function. Then, six types of quantum registers and their initial states are prepared. Furthermore, quantum techniques such as quantum phase estimation and controlled rotation are employed to construct a sparse optimization circuit, which is used to obtain the final quantum state of the feature selection ***, a series of experiments are conducted to verify the accuracy of the feature selection and the robustness of the proposed algorithm. © 1982-2012 IEEE.

This paper reviews big data challenges from a data management respective. In partic- ular, we discuss big data diversity, big data reduction, big data integration and cleaning, big data indexing and query, and fi- nally big data analysis and mining. Our survey gives a brief overview about big-data-oriented research and problems.

DeepSeek, a Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) startup, has released their V3 and R1 series models, which attracted global attention due to their low cost, high performance, and open-source advantages. This paper begins by reviewing the evolution of large AI models focusing on paradigm shifts, the mainstream large language model (LLM) paradigm, and the DeepSeek paradigm. Subsequently, the paper highlights novel algorithms introduced by DeepSeek, including multi-head latent attention (MLA), mixture-of-experts (MoE), multi-token prediction (MTP), and group relative policy optimization (GRPO). The paper then explores DeepSeek's engineering breakthroughs in LLM scaling, training, inference, and system-level optimization architecture. Moreover, the impact of DeepSeek models on the competitive AI landscape is analyzed, comparing them to mainstream LLMs across various fields. Finally, the paper reflects on the insights gained from DeepSeek's innovations and discusses future trends in the technical and engineering development of large AI models, particularly in data, training, and reasoning. © 2014 Chinese Association of Automation.

Sandy desertification in the Belt and Road Initiative drylands during 2000–2020: Assessment under the Land Degradation Neutrality framework

Sandy desertification currently poses a severe environmental challenge, hindering the socio-economic development of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) drylands. However, due to incomplete evaluation systems and unclear driving mechanisms, research on sandy desertification in the BRI drylands remains limited. To address this issue, this study followed the Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) framework and constructed a new index, called sandy desertification assessment index (SDAI). Based on SDAI, this study assessed the status, evolution, and driving mechanisms of sandy desertification during 2000–2020. The findings are as follows: (1) The year 2006 was identified as the turning point for light and moderate sandy desertification land, whereafter the areas of light sandy desertification increased while the areas of moderate sandy desertification decreased. (2) The transformation patterns of sandy desertification levels were similar in two decades (i.e., 2000–2010 and 2010–2020), with slight differences in conversion areas. (3) The changing trends exhibit regional variability. Notably, reversal was predominantly observed in China, Mongolia, and India, whereas intensification was concentrated in Central Asia. (4) Various factors exerted differing influences on sandy desertification, with annual cumulative precipitation, human footprint, and gross domestic product (GDP) being particularly significant. This study will provide crucial guidance for formulating prevention and control strategies in the BRI drylands. © 2025 The Authors

Detecting Difference Between Coefficients in Linear Model Using Jackknife Empirical Likelihood

Empirical likelihood has been found very useful in many different occasions. It usually runs into serious computational difficulties while jackknife empirical likelihood （JEL） is shown to be effective when applied to some complicated statistics. In this paper, to test the difference between coefficients of two linear regression models, the authors apply JEL to construct the confidence regions. Based on the 3EL ratio test, a version of Wilks＇ theorem is developed. Furthermore, to improve the coverage accuracy of confidence regions, a Bartlett correction is applied. Simulation studies are carried out to show the effectiveness of the proposed method in aspects of coverage accuracy. A real data set is analyzed with the proposed method as an example.
