Limited visual information contained in single images and complex motion models of objects may lead to severe fragmentation and confusion of model backbone in the 3D reconstruction of objects. In order to fully extract feature information in a single image and reduce noise interference caused by environmental factors in 3D reconstruction, a Parallel Dual-Branch Pyramid Stacking Network (PDB-PSN) model is proposed. A parallel dual-branch network model is used to construct an encoder-decoder framework based on cascaded feature extraction, encode/decode high and low-resolution features in a single image, and then convert from 2D to 3D through implicit functions to achieve the 3D reconstruction of target objects in a single image. A cascaded feature extraction network is used as a low-resolution feature extraction network to extract global features of objects. In the high-resolution feature extraction branch, three concatenated hourglass networks and dilated convolutions are used in the hourglass network to increase the receptive field and obtain more global information in order to maintain the integrity of the reconstructed object limbs. A threshold processing module is set to remove irrelevant information and ensure the integrity of global information, and meanwhile, to reduce the interference of irrelevant noise information. Simulation experiments on a self-built terracotta dataset show that the PDB-PSN model can completely reconstruct the 3D model in a single image and effectively eliminate model fragmentation in the reconstruction results. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Accurate prediction of future traffic flow trends is essential to solve urban transportation problems. However, traffic flow prediction faces great challenges due to the multimodal nature of pedestrian behavior and the complexity of the traffic environment. Although a large number of studies have been conducted to investigate these issues in depth, there are still some limitations. In order to address these challenges more effectively, we propose a pedestrian trajectory prediction model based on long-short-term memory networks (LSTMs): the DIR-LSTM. The model introduces an innovative generalized direction mechanism and a self-attention mechanism, which captures pedestrian movement patterns more comprehensively and accurately by predicting overall directional movements first and then gradually subdividing them into individual directions of movement. The DIR-LSTM is designed to address the challenges posed by the diversity of pedestrian behaviors and the complexity of urban environments. To validate the state-of-the-art of the model, we conducted experiments using the publicly available ETH [10] and UCY [9] datasets. The experiments demonstrate that DIR-LSTM performs better in terms of accuracy compared to other models, providing a more reliable prediction tool for future urban traffic management. © 2023 ACM.

Industrial sensor signals are essentially non-Euclidean graph structures due to the interplay between process variables;thus, graph convolutional networks (GCNs) have been widely studied and applied. However, most of the existing GCN-based methods may suffer from two drawbacks: 1) it is difficult to characterize multiple interactions among nodes and 2) the input graph constructed from the original data may contain errors and missing edges, which will degenerate the fault diagnosis performance. To address the abovementioned issues, this article designs a hierarchical GCN with latent structure learning for industrial fault diagnosis, which can organize hierarchical networks to collaboratively improve the quality of latent graph structure, and enhanced diagnostic performance can be guaranteed. First, a high-quality updated graph is formed by incorporating the original graph with the new graph in the graph constructing layer, which can not only eliminate the adverse effects of noise and outliers but also characterize the multiple interactions among nodes. Then, the updated graph is fed into the multilayer GCN layer for better feature learning and enhances the node representation through intra- and inter-layer convolutional operations simultaneously. After that, the produced node embeddings are used to guide the latent structure learning process for optimal graph. Finally, the proposed method is verified in both the simulated and real industrial processes. The experimental results demonstrate that the new approach has better fault diagnosis accuracy and practicability than state-of-the-art methods. © 1996-2012 IEEE.

Carbon emission reduction enabled by informatization construction: an analysis of spatial effects based on China’s experience

The "dual-carbon" objective presents a huge challenge for China and the world, with profound implications for the advancement of China’s eco-friendly economy. Additionally, informatization development has a significant impact on the level of carbon emissions in both local and neighbouring regions. Therefore, we employ panel data from 30 provinces in China spanning the years 2012 to 2021, and use the Kernel density estimate and Moran’s index to explore informatization level and carbon emissions space agglomeration characteristics. We elucidate the nonlinear relationship and heterogeneity between informatization improvement and carbon emissions based on the spatial Durbin model. The primary findings are as follows. Firstly, we discover a distinct spatial clustering phenomenon which the informatization level is high in coastal areas and low in inland areas, whereas carbon emissions are low in the south and high in the north. Secondly, the effect of the informatization level on carbon emissions is shown as a U-shaped and non-linear correlation, signifying inhibitory and subsequently promoting phases. Thirdly, we reveal the negative influence on carbon emissions caused by spatial lag terms of the informatization level, and find that a higher local informatization level will have an inhibitory effect on carbon emissions in neighbouring areas. Finally, there is a spatial heterogeneity in the impact of the informatization level on carbon emissions, which presents the U-shaped relation between informatization level and carbon emissions varies across the North-South subregion and the three major economic subregion of China. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Encrypted network traffic classification is an essential task in modern communications, which is used in a wide range of applications, such as network resource allocation, QoS (Quality of Service), malicious detection, etc. With the continuous evolution of network technology, approaches used to classify network encrypted traffic have become increasingly complex, and model training relies heavily on a large amount of labeled data. However, the acquisition of correct and massive labeled data of network traffic in the real environment remains a major challenge in this field. On the opposite, unlabeled traffic is extremely easy to obtain in a network. Therefore, the effective use of unlabeled data is of great significance to the development of modern communications. In this paper, we propose the Sauce model, which can effectively use unlabeled information to obtain high-quality clustering space. It is composed of Aux (auxiliary network) and AE (auto encoder), where Aux is designed for collaborative training with AE, affecting the distribution of samples in the latent space generated by AE. Sauce uses t-SNE (t- distributed stochastic neighbor embedding) to perform secondary dimensionality reduction on the latent code, and then uses a clustering algorithm for cluster analysis. Besides, sauce applies the self-training technique, replacing the real labeled data with pseudo-labeled data to reduce the reliance on labeled data and improve the utilization of unannotated data. We conduct experiments on two real network datasets. The experiments show that Sauce can achieve clustering accuracies of 98.4% (VPN dataset) and 98.0% (TOR dataset), outperforming other unsupervised or semi-supervised learning methods. © 2022 IEEE.

This article proposes a new predefined-time (PDT) stability theorem, which offers more evident advantages compared to previous predefined-time stability. Firstly, based on the limitations of existing PDT stability, this theorem relaxed the limitations of sufficient conditions, which fill the gap in the research on PDT stability. Secondly, the PDT synchronization of multi-modal memristive neural networks (MM-MNN) is analyzed by the usability of the new judgment theorem. A matching PDT controller is designed and sufficient synchronization control conditions is obtained by utilizing generalized Lyapunov functional method, set-valued mapping, inequality analysis technique and differential inclusion theory. Meanwhile, the topological characteristics of multi-modal neuron and its impact on network synchronization behavior are presented. Finally, we provide some confirmatory numerical simulations. © 2023 IEEE.

Human brain is a complex organ that consists of billions of neurons and trillions of connections among the neurons. To describe the correlations among the time series of the brain regions, we model the brain as a functional brain network to diagnose psychosis. However, traditional methods of functional brain network construction are usually noisy and do not consider the causal relationships among brain regions. To obtain the causal relationships and improve diagnosis interpretability, we propose a directed brain network Transformer (DBNT) for psychiatric diagnosis. First, the causal relationships in the blood-oxygen-level-dependent time series of brain regions are extracted to generate a directed brain network. Then, the feature encoding method is proposed to obtain local and global features of the brain networks by using the DBNT. Experimental results demonstrate that the accuracy of DBNT increases by 8.1% and 6.4% compared to state-of-the-art methods on two large-scale brain network datasets. DBNT also highlights the brain regions associated with psychosis and provides interpretation for diagnosis. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

In the realm of multi-intent spoken language understanding, recent advancements have leveraged the potential of prompt learning frameworks. However, critical gaps exist in these frameworks: the lack of explicit modeling of dual-task dependencies and the oversight of task-specific semantic differences among utterances. To address these shortcomings, we propose DC-Instruct, a novel generative framework based on Dual-task Inter-dependent Instructions (DII) and Supervised Contrastive Instructions (SCI). Specifically, DII guides large language models (LLMs) to generate labels for one task based on the other task's labels, thereby explicitly capturing dual-task inter-dependencies. Moreover, SCI leverages utterance semantics differences by guiding LLMs to determine whether a pair of utterances share the same or similar labels. This can improve LLMs on extracting and discriminating task-specific semantics, thus enhancing their SLU reasoning abilities. Extensive experiments on public benchmark datasets show that DC-Instruct markedly outperforms current generative models and state-of-the-art methods, demonstrating its effectiveness in enhancing dialogue language understanding and reasoning. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Human pose estimation, with its broad applications in action recognition and motion capture, has experienced significant advancements. However, current Transformer-based methods for video pose estimation often face challenges in managing redundant temporal information and achieving fine-grained perception because they only focus on processing low-resolution features. To address these challenges, we propose a novel multi-scale resolution framework that encodes spatio-temporal representations at varying granularities and executes fine-grained perception compensation. Furthermore, we employ a density peaks clustering method to dynamically identify and prioritize tokens that offer important semantic information. This strategy effectively prunes redundant feature tokens, especially those arising from multi-frame features, thereby optimizing computational efficiency without sacrificing semantic richness. Empirically, it sets new benchmarks for both performance and efficiency on three large-scale datasets. Our method achieves a 93.8% improvement in inference speed compared to the baseline, while also enhancing pose estimation accuracy, reaching 87.4 mAP on the PoseTrack2017 dataset. © 2025 IEEE.

Large language models (LLMs) have played a pivotal role in building communicative AI, yet they encounter the challenge of efficient updates. Model editing enables the manipulation of specific knowledge memories and the behavior of language generation without retraining. However, the robustness of model editing remains an open question. This work seeks to understand the strengths and limitations of editing methods, facilitating practical applications of communicative AI. We focus on three key research questions. RQ1: Can edited LLMs behave consistently resembling communicative AI in realistic situations? RQ2: To what extent does the rephrasing of prompts lead LLMs to deviate from the edited knowledge memory? RQ3: Which knowledge features are correlated with the performance and robustness of editing? Our empirical studies uncover a substantial disparity between existing editing methods and the practical application of LLMs. On rephrased prompts that are flexible but common in realistic applications, the performance of editing experiences a significant decline. Further analysis shows that more popular knowledge is memorized better, easier to recall, and more challenging to edit effectively. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.
