The home voice assistants such as Amazon Alexa have become increasingly popular due to many interesting voice-activated services provided through special applications called skills. These skills, though useful, have also introduced new security, safety and privacy challenges. Prior work has verified that Alexa is vulnerable to multiple types of voice attacks, but the security and privacy risk of using skills has not been fully investigated. In this work, we study an adversary model that covers three security vulnerabilities, namely, over-privileged resource access, hidden code-manipulation and hidden content-manipulation. By exploiting these vulnerabilities, malicious skills can not only bypass the security tests in the vetting process, but also surreptitiously change their original functions in an attempt to steal users' personal information, obtain safety-sensitive information, or disseminate arbitrary information. We systematically study the security issues from the feasibility of the attacks, a large-scale survey measurement of 33,744 skills in Alexa Skills Store, to the design of countermeasures.

Fingerprint Presentation Attack Detector Using Global-Local Model

The vulnerability of automated fingerprint recognition systems (AFRSs) to presentation attacks (PAs) promotes the vigorous development of PA detection (PAD) technology. However, PAD methods have been limited by information loss and poor generalization ability, resulting in new PA materials and fingerprint sensors. This paper thus proposes a global-local model-based PAD (RTK-PAD) method to overcome those limitations to some extent. The proposed method consists of three modules, called: 1) the global module;2) the local module;and 3) the rethinking module. By adopting the cut-out-based global module, a global spoofness score predicted from nonlocal features of the entire fingerprint images can be achieved. While by using the texture in-painting-based local module, a local spoofness score predicted from fingerprint patches is obtained. The two modules are not independent but connected through our proposed rethinking module by localizing two discriminative patches for the local module based on the global spoofness score. Finally, the fusion spoofness score by averaging the global and local spoofness scores is used for PAD. Our experimental results evaluated on LivDet 2017 show that the proposed RTK-PAD can achieve an average classification error (ACE) of 2.28% and a true detection rate (TDR) of 91.19% when the false detection rate (FDR) equals 1.0%, which significantly outperformed the state-of-the-art methods by ∼10% in terms of TDR (91.19% versus 80.74%). In this paper, a new yet indirect performance guaranteed framework is established to address the distributed tracking control problem for networked uncertain nonlinear strict-feedback systems with unknown time-varying gains under a directed interaction topology. The proposed framework involves two steps: In the first one, a fully distributed robust filter is constructed to estimate the desired trajectory for each agent with guaranteed observation performance that allows the directions among the agents to be non-identical. In the second one, by establishing a novel lemma regarding Nussbaum function, a new adaptive control protocol is developed for each agent based on backstepping technique, which not only steers the output to asymptotically track the corresponding estimated signal with arbitrarily prescribed transient performance, but also largely extends the scope of application since the unknown control gains are allowed to be time-varying and even state-dependent. In such an indirect way, the underlying problem is tackled with the output tracking error converging into an arbitrarily pre-assigned residual set exhibiting an arbitrarily pre-defined convergence rate. Besides, all the internal signals are ensured to be semi-globally ultimately uniformly bounded (SGUUB). The interplay between magnetism and strong topological insulator gives rise to distinct new topological phases and various intriguing phenomena, attracting significant attention in recent years. However, magnetic effects in weak topological insulators remain largely unexplored. In this work, we systematically investigate the magnetic effect on thin films of weak topological insulators. We focus on ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic effects, which have been extensively studied in strong topological insulators, as well as the recently highlighted altermagnetic effect. We reveal that the interplay between magnetism and weak topological insulators leads to a variety of Hall effects in the absence of an external magnetic field, including the metallic quantum anomalous Hall effect without chiral edge states, the quantum anomalous Hall effect with a higher Hall conductance plateau, the quantized layer Hall effect, the metallic half-quantized valley-like Hall effect, and a quantized valley-like Hall effect. Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) have been widely employed for semi-supervised node classification tasks on graphs. However, the performance of GNNs is significantly affected by label noise, that is, a small amount of incorrectly labeled nodes can substantially misguide model training. Mainstream solutions define node classification with label noise (NCLN) as a reliable labeling task, often introducing node similarity with quadratic computational complexity to more accurately assess label reliability. To this end, in this paper, we introduce the Label Ensemble Graph Neural Network (LEGNN), a lower complexity method for robust GNNs training against label noise. LEGNN reframes NCLN as a label ensemble task, gathering informative multiple labels instead of constructing a single reliable label, avoiding high-complexity computations for reliability assessment. Specifically, LEGNN conducts a two-step process: bootstrapping neighboring contexts and robust learning with gathered multiple labels. In the former step, we apply random neighbor masks for each node and gather the predicted labels as a high-probability label set. This mitigates the impact of inaccurately labeled neighbors and diversifies the label set. In the latter step, we utilize a partial label learning based strategy to aggregate the high-probability label information for model training. Additionally, we symmetrically gather a low-probability label set to counteract potential noise from the bootstrapped high-probability label set. Extensive experiments on six datasets demonstrate that LEGNN achieves outstanding performance while ensuring efficiency. Deep learning (DL), a pivotal technology in artificial intelligence, has recently gained substantial traction in the domain of dental auxiliary diagnosis. However, its application has predominantly been confined to imaging modalities such as panoramic radiographs and Cone Beam Computed Tomography, with limited focus on auxiliary analysis specifically targeting Periapical Radiographs (PR). PR are the most extensively utilized imaging modality in endodontics and periodontics due to their capability to capture detailed local lesions at a low cost. Nevertheless, challenges such as resolution limitations and artifacts complicate the annotation and recognition of PR, leading to a scarcity of publicly available, large-scale, high-quality PR analysis datasets. This scarcity has somewhat impeded the advancement of DL applications in PR analysis. In this paper, we present PRAD-10K, a dataset for PR analysis. PRAD-10K comprises 10,000 clinical periapical radiograph images, with pixel-level annotations provided by professional dentists for nine distinct anatomical structures, lesions, and artificial restorations or medical devices, We also include classification labels for images with typical conditions or lesions. Furthermore, we introduce a DL network named PRNet to establish benchmarks for PR segmentation tasks. Experimental results demonstrate that PRNet surpasses previous state-of-the-art medical image segmentation models on the PRAD-10K dataset. Federated Learning (FL) is a promising paradigm that leverages distributed data sources to train machine learning models, thereby offering significant privacy advantages. However, the inherent statistical heterogeneity among clients, characterized by distinct data distributions and varying model performance, poses a substantial challenge. Such heterogeneity adversely affects both the convergence and overall performance of the global model within the FL framework. To address this issue, we introduce a novel FL algorithm, FedVa, which considers both the local data volume and model accuracy to determine client contributions, assigning respective weights. This consideration facilitates greater engagement from key clients during the aggregation process, thereby enhancing their influence on the global model refinement. Experimental results indicate that FedVa surpasses prevailing methods in managing statistical heterogeneity and enhancing global model accuracy, without incurring additional communication costs. Specifically, FedVa achieves a convergence speed 3.9 times faster than FedAvg on the MNIST dataset, and on the CIFAR-10 dataset, it results in a 2.3% increase in final model accuracy compared to FedAvg. This paper presents a Scientific Literature Management Platform (SLMP, demo link 1 ) based on large language models (LLMs). The platform consists of four modules: literature management, literature extraction, literature retrieval, and question answering. The core techniques used to support the four modules across the platform include a fine-tuned model PaperExtractGPT and a continual pre-training model ChatPaperGPT based on ChatGLM 2 using the data from scientific research literature, responsible for information extraction and communication, respectively. Due to their powerful capabilities in natural language understanding and generation, LLMs can understand complex scientific concepts based on the provided contexts, and thus generate high-quality texts and conduct in-depth information retrieval and question answering. Our platform can help researchers manage and utilize literature more effectively and efficiently for finding relevant literature, obtaining required information, and generating new knowledge.

Due to the network's rapid expansion, mobile networks bear extra high deployment costs. Being a key enabler of 6th generation (6G) mobile networks, it is crucial that cell-free massive MIMO (CF mMIMO) networks achieve green and cost-effective development. In this correspondence, we propose spatio-temporal graph neural networks (STGNN)-based CF mMIMO networks with a maximal benefit-cost ratio. First, we formulate a new coverage cost metric named benefit-cost ratio (BCR), which can evaluate the deployment cost while fulfilling various traffic requirements. Next, CF mMIMO networks are modeled as a spatio-temporal graph to utilize STGNN to extract the spatial-temporal properties of traffic demands. Finally, STGNN optimizes the number and location of access points (APs) based on the maximal BCR criterion so that the CF mMIMO networks can achieve on-demand service capability with minimum deployment cost. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can significantly reduce the deployment cost while providing on-demand and high-quality mobile service. © 1967-2012 IEEE.
