Quantifying the impacts of climate change and wetland area dynamics on methane (CH4) emissions in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau (QTP) is crucial for enhancing our understanding of regional and global CH4 budgets. However, a major source of uncertainty in estimating wetland methane emissions stems from the limited delineation of wetland area dynamics. In this study, we integrated dynamic wetland inundation schemes into a process-based model to quantify the contributions of wetland area variations to natural wetland CH4 emissions on the QTP, both historically and in the future. The results revealed that climate change significantly influenced the spatiotemporal distribution of wetland CH4 emissions, with wetland inundation dynamics contributing between 21.84 % and 27.18 % of the increase in CH4 emissions from 1960 to 2020. Under future climate change scenarios, wetland CH4 emissions are projected to exhibit a more pronounced increasing trend, with wetland inundation dynamics projected to contribute 18.94 % to 21.80 % of the increase in CH4 emissions in the QTP under seven Shared Socioeconomic Pathways scenarios. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.

Link prediction for attribute and structure learning based on attention mechanism

The link prediction problem within complex network analysis focus on accurately inferring future relationships between unconnected node pairs in networks. In real-world scenarios, many relationships can find effective expression through network representation learning, making link prediction pivotal in solving various practical problems. However, existing link prediction methods often exhibit an over-reliance on network structure information or struggle to effectively integrate network structure with node attribute information. Moreover, the current limitations of GPU memory pose challenges for deploying graph neural network (GNN) methods at scale. To address these challenges, this paper introduces attribute and structure learning based on attention mechanism(ASLAM), a novel link prediction framework that amalgamates graph neural networks with attention mechanisms. ASLAM adeptly extracts and integrates both node attribute and structural information, constructing semantic and structural node representations through attention mechanisms and facilitating predictions via adaptive merging. Additionally, to mitigate GPU memory consumption, ASLAM innovatively incorporates the subgraph history embedding method, ensuring stable performance with either constant or linear increases in memory consumption. Experimental results show ASLAM’s superiority over baseline methods across nine real datasets in link prediction tasks. The AUC and AP metrics witness enhancements ranging from 0.11% to 3.03% and 0.15% to 3.32%, respectively, underscoring its promise and applicability.

As a NP-hard problem, it is always baffling to figure out a scheduling strategy to arrange the interconnected tasks of a workflow on the infinite number of resources in the cloud environment so that the workflow can be addressed efficiently and robustly. This paper focuses on scheduling the workflow’s tasks on the cloud resources with less rental cost of resources while the whole schedule length (makespan) will not exceed the given deadline. As one of the most popular evolutionary algorithms, particle swarm optimization (PSO) has been successfully applied for the workflow scheduling problem. Inspired by the idea of multiple groups and the distributed parallel computing, we develop an enhanced PSO algorithm for the workflow scheduling problem in clouds. Besides, a pretreatment strategy is adopted to simplify the workflow’s structure. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposal has good performance on improving the algorithm’s searching ability and finding better solutions.

The generic object detection (GOD) task has been successfully tackled by recent deep neural networks, trained by an avalanche of annotated training samples from some common classes. However, it is still non-trivial to generalize these object detectors to the novel long-tailed object classes, which have only few labeled training samples. To this end, the Few-Shot Object Detection (FSOD) has been topical recently, as it mimics the humans' ability of learning to learn, and intelligently transfers the learned generic object knowledge from the common heavy-tailed, to the novel long-tailed object classes. Especially, the research in this emerging field has been flourishing in recent years with various benchmarks, backbones, and methodologies proposed. To review these FSOD works, there are several insightful FSOD survey articles [58, 59, 74, 78] that systematically study and compare them as the groups of fine-tuning/transfer learning, and meta-learning methods. In contrast, we review the existing FSOD algorithms from a new perspective under a new taxonomy based on their contributions, i.e., data-oriented, model-oriented, and algorithm-oriented. Thus, a comprehensive survey with performance comparison is conducted on recent achievements of FSOD. Furthermore, we also analyze the technical challenges, the merits and demerits of these methods, and envision the future directions of FSOD. Specifically, we give an overview of FSOD, including the problem definition, common datasets, and evaluation protocols. The taxonomy is then proposed that groups FSOD methods into three types. Following this taxonomy, we provide a systematic review of the advances in FSOD. Finally, further discussions on performance, challenges, and future directions are presented. Signatures are one of the most important means to ensure the authenticity of documents and are commonly used in life and work. In identifying imitation handwriting, it is easy to make mistakes that cannot correctly identify and evaluate different writing characteristics. In this paper, from the perspective of dynamic handwriting detection, we propose RF sign, a signature anticounterfeiting real-time monitoring model, which achieves passive recognition of signature behavior using only a single antenna with a single tag. The RF sign identifies different users by extracting fine-grained reflection features from the original RF signal. We introduced a dynamic time regularization and neural network technique for similarity calculation and signature recognition matching to achieve template matching and classification. We compiled a real-time signature handwriting detection system. The system effectively identifies the person's signature by checking real-time spatial and temporal information. Comprehensive experiments show that the recognition accuracy of my signature can reach over 93% and is robust to input location, environmental changes, and user diversity. © 2023 Biaokai Zhu et al.

Comparison and validation of canopy reflectance(CR)models are two important steps to ensure their *** forest plantations are an ideal type of forest for validating CR models because of their simple background and the low variance in the crown structures which are usually assumed to be identical in most CR models.A Geometric Optical Model for Forest Plantations(GOFP)was compared using dataset in two radiation transfer model intercomparison exercise(RAMI)stands and validated using in situ dataset of detailed optical and structural data of two forest plantations in the Saihanba Forestry Center,*** results show that(1)the tree distributions in stands described by the hypergeometric model in GOFP show good consistencies with the dataset in the two RAMI stands and measurements from the two Saihanba forest stands;and(2)the CRs simulated with GOFP are also compared well in the two RAMI stands and validated with measurements collected with unmanned aerial vehicles in the two Saihanba *** shows a better consistency with the CR measurements than those from CR models for natual forestsbecause the tree distribution in forest plantations is described more reasonably in GOFP.

Outlier detection refers to the identification of anomalous samples that deviate significantly from the distribution of normal data and has been extensively studied and used in a variety of practical tasks. However, most unsupervised outlier detection methods are carefully designed to detect specified outliers, while real-world data may be entangled with different types of outliers. In this study, we propose a fuzzy rough sets-based multi-scale outlier detection method to identify various types of outliers. Specifically, a novel fuzzy rough sets-based method that integrates relative fuzzy granule density is first introduced to improve the capability of detecting local outliers. Then, a multi-scale view generation method based on granular-ball computing is proposed to collaboratively identify group outliers at different levels of granularity. Moreover, reliable outliers and inliers determined by the three-way decision are used to train a weighted support vector machine to further improve the performance of outlier detection. The proposed method innovatively transforms unsupervised outlier detection into a semi-supervised classification problem and for the first time explores the fuzzy rough sets-based outlier detection from the perspective of multi-scale granular balls, allowing for high adaptability to different types of outliers. Extensive experiments carried out on both artificial and UCI datasets demonstrate that the proposed outlier detection method significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art methods, improving the results by at least 8.48% in terms of the Area Under the ROC Curve (AUROC) index. The integration of Internet of Things (IoT)-based highway bridge structural health monitoring (HBSHM) and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) plays an essential role in detecting damage for large and complex bridge structures. The HBSHM provides ITS with bridge health condition information for real-time traffic management. The ITS provides HBSHM with the required traffic data to improve the HBSHM system’s accuracy and reliability. Node deployment optimization (NDO) is critical in HBSHM as sensor node deployment directly affects the quality of collected data. To better solve the NDO problem in HBSHM, a novel hybrid cat-artificial fish swarm algorithm (CAT-AFSA) based on the Artificial Fish Swarm Algorithm (AFSA) and Cat Swarm optimization (CSO) is proposed in this paper. The algorithm introduces seeking and tracing behaviors of CSO into AFSA, which effectively expands the search space of artificial fish and reduces the blind search of it. The performance of the CAT-AFSA is first tested using four benchmark functions, and then its validity and feasibility for the NDO are verified using an engineering example. The simulations demonstrate that the CAT-AFSA has better search performance and computational efficiency compared with the AFSA and CSO. The CAT-AFSA has a broad application prospect in the field of NDO in civil engineering.
