This study introduces an innovative approach for gesture recognition in smart wearable devices using a deep domain adaptation model, focusing on the challenges posed by heterogeneous user environments and the need for precise, adaptable, and personalized gesture recognition systems. Traditional methods based on machine learning and deep learning techniques, while effective, struggle with the variance in data distribution among different users, leading to accuracy challenges. To address this,the study proposes the Domain Kernel-Alignment Adaptation Network(DKAN) model, utilizing a new Kernel-Aligned Multi-kernel Maximum Mean Discrepancy(KAMMD) method within deep networks. By calculating kernel alignments between source and target domains and adjusting weights of Gaussian kernels accordingly, DKAN emphasizes features conducive to transfer learning, enabling more accurate cross-user gesture recognition. The model achieves a significant average accuracy of 97.3% across 21 gestures, highlighting its potential in practical applications. This advancement addresses challenges in traditional gesture recognition methods and sets a new direction for future research in smart wearable technology.

A transient, six-cylinder diesel engine model for cold test has been developed for analyzing the engine fault through the engine torque curve. The model is based on physically working cycle, thermodynamic theory and dynamics mechanism. The simulation of this model, implemented on Matlab/Simulink, can not only achieve engine faults detection before hot test, but also indicate different causes of engine faults, such as initial phase change, intake valve closing-time delay, and so on. It is shown that the diesel engine model for cold test proves its significance to improving cold test technology.

With the wide use of power conversion devices, harmonic currents are being injected into the power grid. Shunt Active Power Filters (SAPF) is a power electronic device to compensate the harmonic currents caused by nonlinear loads. As the foundation of the harmonics recognition and compensation, harmonic extraction techniques are becoming more and more important. This paper proposes a new harmonic extraction method based on the Echo State Networks (ESN). ESN is a new type of Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN), which has much faster training speed than other types of RNN. To evaluate the dynamic system modeling capability of the ESN, the ESN with different dynamic reservoir size are discussed. The performance of the ESN based harmonic extraction method is compared with traditional methods and method based on multilayer perceptron networks (MLP). The ESN algorithm is trained and tested in MATLAB.

To control the mobile robot with the surrounding information is the essential method to realize the intelligence and automatic moving. The vision information is the most important way to perceive the environment for the mobile robot. This paper presents an essential camera calibration technique for mobile robot, which is based on Pioneer II experiment platform. The technique includes transformation of coordinates system for vision system, the model and principle of image formation, camera distortion calibration. Because of non-linear distortion of camera, algorithm with optimizing operators is presented to improve calibration precision. We verify the validity and feasibility of the algorithm through experiment.

With more and more attention on the grid current harmonic in recent years, many control schemes of the Pulse Width Modulation Voltage Source Converter (PWM-VSC) have been investigated. Conventional PI controller has shown limitations such as sensitivity to load and system parameter variation. Even the stability of the system can be threatened under a large and sudden load change. In this paper, the practical situation of a VSC for industrial Micro Grid (MG) is considered and an Artificial neural network (ANN) based control method is employed to solve the problem. Meanwhile, an on-line parameter tuning algorithm is introduced for its advantage of self-tuning and system character identification. The proposed control scheme is verified through simulation based on SABER software. The simulation results have shown the advantage of the proposed method and the performance of the parameter tuning session.
