This paper addresses the global consensus problem for multi-input multi-output saturated systems within a sampled-data framework, aiming to advance global consensus, manage heterogeneous actuator saturation across components, and preserve distributed characteristics by using sampled-data feedback. We propose a distributed control algorithm that incorporates a redesigned saturation function, represented as decentralized dynamic saturation levels. These levels for each agent’s dimensions are autonomously updated through an adaptive strategy, which mitigates heterogeneous saturation by carefully selecting constant and time-varying saturation parameters in it. Lyapunov analysis proves that global consensus can be achieved under the proposed control law, provided the sampling periods of all agents remain below a calculated threshold. An example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach.

Multi-view learning improves the learning performance by utilizing multi-view data: data collected from multiple sources, or feature sets extracted from the same data source. This approach is suitable for primate brain state decoding using cortical neural signals. This is because the complementary components of simultaneously recorded neural signals, local field potentials (LFPs) and action potentials (spikes), can be treated as two views. In this paper, we extended broad learning system (BLS), a recently proposed wide neural network architecture, from single-view learning to multi-view learning, and validated its performance in monkey oculomotor decision decoding from medial frontal LFPs and spikes. We demonstrated that medial frontal LFPs and spikes in non-human primate do contain complementary information about the oculomotor decision, and that the proposed multi-view BLS is a more effective approach to classify the oculomotor decision, than several classical and state-of-the-art single-view and multi-view learning approaches. This paper proposes a joint gain and input design method for observer-based asymptotic active fault diagnosis, which is based on a newly-defined notion named the excluding degree of the origin from a zonotope. Using the excluding degree, a quantitative specification is obtained to characterize the performance of set-based robust fault diagnosis. Furthermore, a single gain design method and a joint gain and input design method are proposed, respectively. This is the first work to achieve a joint observer gain and input design for set-based active fault diagnosis. Compared with the existing methods that design gains and input separately, the proposed joint gain and input design method has advantages to exploit the fault diagnosis potential of observer-based schemes. The fault-tolerant consensus of linear singular multi-agent systems (SMASs) is studied in this paper. Firstly, a general dynamic adaptive event-triggered mechanism (ETM) is proposed, and its special cases include the existing dynamic ETM and static ETM. Then, based on this dynamic ETM, a new distributed dynamic adaptive event-triggered fault-tolerant controller (DAETFTC) is designed. Then the consensus problem is discussed for the linear SMASs via the proposed DAETFTC. Moreover, we establish novel sufficient conditions to ensure that all agents of the linear SMAS can reach consensus asymptotically. In addition, it is prove that Zeno behavior can be strictly excluded. Finally, the obtained results are simulated by a numerical example. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The electric vehicle (EV) and electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) have been widely deployed with the development of large-scale transportation electrifications. However, since charging behaviors of EVs show large uncertainties, the forecasting of EVCS charging power is non-trivial. This paper tackles this issue by proposing a reinforcement learning assisted deep learning framework for the probabilistic EVCS charging power forecasting to capture its uncertainties. Since the EVCS charging power data are not standard time-series data like electricity load, they are first converted to the time-series format. On this basis, one of the most popular deep learning models, the long short-term memory (LSTM) is used and trained to obtain the point forecast of EVCS charging power. To further capture the forecast uncertainty, a Markov decision process (MDP) is employed to model the change of LSTM cell states, which is solved by our proposed adaptive exploration proximal policy optimization (AePPO) algorithm based on reinforcement learning. Finally, experiments are carried out on the real EVCSs charging data from Caltech, and Jet Propulsion laboratory, USA, respectively. A brain-computer interface (BCI) enables direct communication between the human brain and external devices. Electroencephalography (EEG) based BCIs are currently the most popular for able-bodied users. To increase user-friendliness, usually a small amount of user-specific EEG data are used for calibration, which may not be enough to develop a pure data-driven decoding model. To cope with this typical calibration data shortage challenge in EEG-based BCIs, this paper proposes a parameter-free channel reflection (CR) data augmentation approach that incorporates prior knowledge on the channel distributions of different BCI paradigms in data augmentation. Experiments on eight public EEG datasets across four different BCI paradigms (motor imagery, steady-state visual evoked potential, P300, and seizure classifications) using different decoding algorithms demonstrated that: 1) CR is effective, i.e., it can noticeably improve the classification accuracy;2) CR is robust, i.e., it consistently outperforms other data augmentation approaches in the literature;and, 3) CR is flexible, i.e., it can be combined with other data augmentation approaches to further increase the performance. We suggest that data augmentation approaches like CR should be an essential step in EEG-based BCIs. Our code is available online. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

intelligent industrial manufacturing heavily relies on structured knowledge. Named Entity Recognition (NER), an essential technique for extracting structured knowledge from text, has garnered significant research interest. However, current NER approaches face difficulties in handling multiple levels of entity nesting in knowledge extraction, especially within the manufacturing context. To address this issue, we present an Anchor Span-based NER (ASNER) approach for accurately and efficiently extracting manufacturing text knowledge. This method combines token and span classification. Initially, the head and tail features of the entity are extracted, with the corresponding anchor span of potential entities generated based on a boundary match neural network to localize the entities. Subsequently, token spatial contextual features are extracted using biaffine attention and convolutional neural networks, and classification categories are assigned to the anchor span-filtered entity features. Experimental studies demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed ASNER approach. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Radiomics aims to extract and analyze large numbers of quantitative features from medical images and is highly promising in staging, diagnosing, and predicting outcomes of cancer treatments. Nevertheless, several challenges need to be addressed to construct an optimal radiomics predictive model. First, the predictive performance of the model may be reduced when features extracted from an individual imaging modality (e.g. PET, CT, MRI) are blindly combined into a single predictive model. Second, because many different types of classifiers are available to construct a predictive model, selecting an "optimal" classifier for a particular application is still challenging. In this work, we developed multi-modality and multi-classifier radiomics predictive models that address the aforementioned issues in currently available models. Specifically, a new reliable classifier fusion strategy was proposed to optimally combine output from different modalities and classifiers. In this strategy, modality-specific classifiers were first trained, and an analytic evidential reasoning (ER) rule was developed to fuse the output score from each modality to construct an optimal predictive model. One public datasets and two clinical case studies were performed to validate model performance. The experimental results indicated that the proposed ER rule based radiomics models outperformed the traditional models that rely on a single classifier or simply use combined features from different modalities.
