Topic shift detection aims to identify whether there is a change in the current topic of conversation or if a change is needed. The study found previous work did not evaluate the performance of large language models like ChatGPT on the task of topic shift. Therefore, this paper's main task and innovation lie in analyzing ChatGPT's performance on topic shift detection. To provide a more comprehensive evaluation, we conducted topic shift detection tasks on ChatGPT from three aspects: single utterances, adjacent utterances, and contextual levels. Additionally, to gauge the performance of large language models, we conducted experiments on multiple small-scale models and compared the results of the two models. Experimental results on the publicly available English TIAGE dataset showed that small-scale models exhibited lower recall in all three aspects, while ChatGPT performed better in the recall. This suggests that compared to small-scale models, large models are more capable of accurately detecting topic shifts. However, large models also exhibited lower precision, indicating that while ChatGPT can recognize content differences in utterances, its judgment on whether these different contents belong to the same topic is poor.

For Dubois rough fuzzy sets, the membership of the lower or upper approximations is defined as the elements memberships' infimum or supsmum in equivalent class. As a result of not considering the elements whose memberships are between the minimum and maximum, some useful information of these elements may be lost in the information processing. The paper presents a new operator of rough fuzzy sets that every element's membership in equivalent class is taken into account. Based on the new operator, algebra properties are put forward and rough fuzzy membership is defined. Moreover, the paper presents accurate degree, classified quality, dependence degree and attribute reduction algorithm. At last, an example proves that the algorithm is efficient.

Energy Efficiency and Delay Tradeoff in an MEC-Enabled Mobile IoT Network

Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) has recently emerged as a promising technology in the 5G era. It is deemed an effective paradigm to support computation intensive and delay critical applications even at energy-constrained and computation-limited Internet of Things (IoT) devices. To effectively exploit the performance benefits enabled by MEC, it is imperative to jointly allocate radio and computational resources by considering non-stationary computation demands, user mobility, and wireless fading channels. This paper aims to study the tradeoff between energy efficiency (EE) and service delay for multi-user multi-server MEC-enabled IoT systems when provisioning offloading services in a user mobility scenario. Particularly, we formulate a stochastic optimization problem with the objective of minimizing the long-term average network EE with the constraints of the task queue stability, peak transmit power, maximum CPU-cycle frequency, and maximum user number. To tackle the problem, we propose an online offloading and resource allocation algorithm by transforming the original problem into several individual subproblems in each time slot based on Lyapunov optimization theory, which are then solved by convex decomposition and submodular methods. Theoretical analysis proves that the proposed algorithm can achieve a [O(1/V), O(V)] tradeoff between EE and service delay. Simulation results verify the theoretical analysis and demonstrate our proposed algorithm can offer much better EE-delay performance in task offloading challenges, compared to several baselines. There are wafer fabrication processes in cluster tools that require revisiting. It is shown that swapping is efficient in operating a dual-arm cluster tool. For dual-arm cluster tools with wafer revisiting, if a swap strategy is applied, it forms a three wafer periodical process with three wafers completed in each period. Such a period contains three cycles in a revisiting process and another three cycles in non-revisiting process. Hence, analysis and scheduling of dual-arm cluster tools with wafer revisiting become very complicated. In this work, a Petri net model is developed to describe the operations of such tools. Based on it, it is found that if a swap strategy is applied to a dual-arm cluster tool with wafer revisiting, it is always in a transient state. A systematic method is presented to analyze its performance.

Integrated circuits(ICs) and optoelectronic chips are the foundation stones of the modern information society. The IC industry has been driven by the so-called "Moore's law" in the past 60 years, and now has entered the post Moore's law era. In this paper, we review the recent progress of ICs and optoelectronic chips. The research status, technical challenges and development trend of devices, chips and integrated technologies of typical IC and optoelectronic chips are focused on. The main contents include the development law of IC and optoelectronic chip technology, the IC design and processing technology, emerging memory and chip architecture, brain-like chip structure and its mechanism, heterogeneous integration, quantum chip technology, silicon photonics chip technology, integrated microwave photonic chip, and optoelectronic hybrid integrated chip.

Multi-task learning (MTL) is an important subject in machine learning and artificial intelligence. Its applications to computer vision, signal processing, and speech recognition are ubiquitous. Although this subject has attracted considerable attention recently, the performance and robustness of the existing models to different tasks have not been well balanced. This article proposes an MTL model based on the architecture of the variational information bottleneck (VIB), which can provide a more effective latent representation of the input features for the downstream tasks. Extensive observations on three public data sets under adversarial attacks show that the proposed model is competitive to the state-of-the-art algorithms concerning the prediction accuracy. Experimental results suggest that combining the VIB and the task-dependent uncertainties is a very effective way to abstract valid information from the input features for accomplishing multiple tasks. © 2020, CC BY.

—Morphological reconstruction (MR) is often employed by seeded image segmentation algorithms such as watershed transform and power watershed as it is able to filter seeds (regional minima) to reduce over-segmentation. However, MR might mistakenly filter meaningful seeds that are required for generating accurate segmentation and it is also sensitive to the scale because a single-scale structuring element is employed. In this paper, a novel adaptive morphological reconstruction (AMR) operation is proposed that has three advantages. Firstly, AMR can adaptively filter useless seeds while preserving meaningful ones. Secondly, AMR is insensitive to the scale of structuring elements because multiscale structuring elements are employed. Finally, AMR has two attractive properties: monotonic increasingness and convergence that help seeded segmentation algorithms to achieve a hierarchical segmentation. Experiments clearly demonstrate that AMR is useful for improving algorithms of seeded image segmentation and seed-based spectral segmentation. Compared to several state-of-the-art algorithms, the proposed algorithms provide better segmentation results requiring less computing time. Source code is available at https://***/SUST-reynole/AMR. Semantic communication in the 6G era has been deemed a promising communication paradigm to break through the bottleneck of traditional communications. However, its applications for the multi-user scenario, especially the broadcasting case, remain under-explored. To effectively exploit the benefits enabled by semantic communication, in this paper, we propose a one-to-many semantic communication system. Specifically, we propose a deep neural network (DNN) enabled semantic communication system called MR_DeepSC. By leveraging semantic features for different users, a semantic recognizer based on the pre-trained model, i.e., DistilBERT, is built to distinguish different users. Furthermore, the transfer learning is adopted to speed up the training of new receiver networks. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed MR_DeepSC can achieve the best performance in terms of BLEU score than the other benchmarks under different channel conditions, especially in the low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime. MetaFruit Meets Foundation Models: Leveraging a Comprehensive Multi-Fruit Dataset for Advancing Agricultural Foundation Models

Fruit harvesting poses a significant labor and financial burden for the industry, highlighting the critical need for advancements in robotic harvesting solutions. Machine vision-based fruit detection has been recognized as a crucial component for robust identification of fruits to guide robotic manipulation. Despite considerable progress in leveraging deep learning and machine learning techniques for fruit detection, a common shortfall is the inability to swiftly extend the developed models across different orchards and/or various fruit species. Additionally, the limited availability of pertinent data further compounds these challenges. In this work, we introduce MetaFruit, the largest publicly available multi-class fruit dataset, comprising 4,248 images and 248,015 manually labeled instances across diverse U.S. orchards. Furthermore, this study proposes an innovative open-set fruit detection system leveraging advanced Vision Foundation Models (VFMs) for fruit detection that can adeptly identify a wide array of fruit types under varying orchard conditions. This system not only demonstrates remarkable adaptability in learning from minimal data through few-shot learning but also shows the ability to interpret human instructions for subtle detection tasks. The performance of the developed foundation model is comprehensively evaluated using several metrics, which outperforms the existing state-of-the-art algorithms in both our MetaFruit dataset and other open-sourced fruit datasets, thereby setting a new benchmark in the field of agricultural technology and robotic harvesting.
