Spatial matching and flow in supply and demand of water provision services: A case study in Xiangjiang River Basin

Global climate change and increased human consumption have aggravated the uneven spatiotemporal distribution of watershed water resources, affecting the water provision supply and demand state. However, this problem has often been ignored. The present study used the Xiangjiang River basin(XRB) as the study area, and the Integrated Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Trade-offs(InVEST) model, demand quantification model,supply–demand ratio, and water flow formula were applied to explore the spatial heterogeneity, flow, and equilibrium between water supply and demand. The results demonstrated significant spatial heterogeneity in the upstream, midstream, and downstream *** areas of water shortage were mainly located the downstream of the Changsha–Zhuzhou–Xiangtan urban agglomeration, and the Hengyang basin was the most scarcity area. Affected by terrain gradients and human needs, water flow varied from-16.33 × 10^(8) m^(3) to 13.69 × 10^(8) m^(3)from the upstream to the downstream area, which provided a possibility to reduce spatial heterogeneity. In the future, measures such as strengthening water resource system control,sponge city construction, and dynamic monitoring technology should be taken to balance the supply and demand of water in different river sections of the basin. This study can provide references for regulating water resources allocation in different reaches of the basin.

Under the more frequent and extreme global drought events, utilizing stable isotopes to quantify soil evaporation losses (SEL) is of great significance for understanding the water supply capacity from soil to plants. From March 2017 to September 2019, we continuously monitored meteorological factors, soil temperature and humidity, and collected precipitation and soil water stable isotope data. Used the Craig-Gordon (C-G) model and the line-conditioned excess (lc-excess) couple with Rayleigh fractionation (RL) model to quantify SEL in subtropical secondary forests. The results showed: (1) The theoretical Evaporation Line (EL) slope correlated negatively with air temperature (AT). Water source isotopic values were more positive in autumn and more negative in spring. The aridity index (AI) and soil evaporation loss ratio (f) from both models indicated drier conditions from March to September 2018 compared to 2017 and 2019;(2) Comparative analysis showed the C-G model agreed more closely with measured evapotranspiration (ET0) and water surface evaporation (E) than the RL model, indicating its better suitability for the study region;(3) Because the "inverse temperature effect" of the precipitation isotopes, the linear fitting method was not suitable for determining the water source in spring, summer, autumn, and on the annual scale, while the EL slope obtained by the fitted slope was consistent with the basic principle of soil evaporation in winter. Thus, the theoretical method was more suitable for determining the EL slope in such regions;(4) because the different fundamentals, the C-G model was positively correlated with air temperature (AT) and negatively with relative humidity (h), while the RL model showed the opposite, indicating different applicability. Meanwhile, SEL is influenced by soil thickness, atmospheric evaporation, and soil water supply capacities. Efficient Numerical Singular Integral (NSI) methods have been developed for both 1D and 2D electromagnetics problems, in both the Cartesian and polar coordinates. Through a special type of integration by parts, rigorous mathematics derivation has been performed to decompose the original singular integrals into sum of non-singular integrals that can be evaluated numerically. It can be shown that it is more convenient to evaluate the line-type singularity in the Cartesian coordinate;while it is better to evaluate the point-type singularity in the polar coordinate. Also, numerical schemes to find the order of singularity has been presented. Finally, to validate the 2D numerical singular integral methods, the electromagnetic scattering problem of a 2D reflecting ellipse antenna has been simulated through the Ping-Pong algorithm developed by the authors. © 2022 IEEE.

With the widespread application of digital assets and the rapid development of blockchain technology, achieving secure and efficient transactions between different blockchain networks has become an urgent challenge. Existing cross-chain methods impose limitations, e.g., hash lock technology exhibits low scalability, side-chain technology is overly complex, and notary schemes pose centralization risks. In order to address these issues, we propose a cross-chain transaction solution based on proxy re-signature technology. To tackle the centralization concerns, we employ proxy re-signature technology to decentralize the authority of notaries among transaction participants, minimizing the potential for centralization at a low cost. We further present an extended scheme that can guarantee more requirements such as higher transaction amount and shorter transaction time. Furthermore, we analyze and compare the signature technologies used in the proposed solution and provide a systematic proof of our approach’s security.

Aquifers supporting irrigated agriculture in Henan Plain in China (HNP) are under immense stress due to water scarcity and extensive. To assist in establishing a crop planting structure in this region that aligns more with the capacity of water resources, we have developed a refined methodology for estimating Groundwater Storage Anomalies (GWSA). This method integrates Multi-temporal Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (MT-InSAR) inversion, Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment/Global Land data Assimilation System (GRACE/GLDAS) modelling, and hydraulic head measurements. The time-series comparison of wells and overall statistics verifies the reliability of both MT-InSAR- and GRACE/GLDAS-derived GWSA, exhibiting a mean R-square of 0.8288 and an RMSE of 7.5 cm. The corrected and integrated GWSA significantly refines the regular grid of ~27 km from GRACE to within 1 km in deep confined aquifers and effectively constrains uncertainties in the GRACE solution, probably caused by spatial leakages in the mass field. Furthermore, the gravity analysis of GWSA in HNP reveals that the central regions in HNP between the Yellow River and the Huaihe River suffer the most severe regional groundwater depletion. The depletion center has shifted to the northwest by 87 km, showing a trend of easing in the north-south direction and expanding in the east-west direction. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Learning and teaching Structured Query Language (SQL) is a challenge that is widely recognized within the computer science education community. Programming ac-tivities are considered to be the most important aspect of the learning process. Manually grading of SQL statements, however, is often regarded as a tedious and time-consuming ordeal. In this paper we propose an automated grading approach for SQL statements, which combines dynamic and static analysis. The proposed approach first identified the correct statements from the student SQL statements, and then grades the incorrect statements based on the similarity between the statements and the correct statements. Empir-ical evaluation of the proposal was carried out on a dataset consisting of 255 manually graded pairs of statements. Experimental results show that our approach is superior to three state-of-the-art grading approaches. Our study found that each grading approach has its particular advantages and disadvantages, and the combination of different grading approaches can help to improve the quality of grading results. © 2020, Taiwan Ubiquitous Information. Optimizing the spatial organization of rural settlements based on life quality

Optimizing rural settlements is an important measure to cope with rural decline, and improve the quality of rural life and attractions. This study introduces the "life quality theory". Based on the mechanisms governing the interactions between rural settlement space and life quality, this study examines how to optimize the spatial organization of rural settlements. Three aspects are evaluated – the integration of rural settlement spatial functions, optimization of spatial structure, and regulation of spatial scale – with the objective of building an optimization mode and framework for the spatial organization of rural settlements with high life quality. Our results suggest the following:(1) The settlement is the spatial carrier of life quality, which is an essential settlement component, and these two aspects influence and improve each other. Therefore, reasonable rural settlement space is an important precondition for higher life quality.(2) The spatial function types of rural settlements can be divided into those that maintain livelihoods, develop industry, and upgrade life quality. Optimizing spatial organization of rural settlements based on life quality requires promoting the maintenance of livelihood, integration of industrial development, and implantation in quality improvement.(3) There are two important components of optimizing the spatial organization of rural settlements. One is promoting the organic concentration of living, agricultural, and industrial spaces, the reasonable distribution of social intercourse, recreational, and services spaces, and the organic balance of living, production, and ecological spaces, so as to reasonably optimize the combination of internal spatial types in settlements. The other is forming a functional structure level of a "comprehensive village–featured village" and building spatial organization settlement modes connected by rural roads by relocating and adjusting the function of villages.
