The solution of over-determined equations plays a very important role in fields such as data fitting, signal processing, and machine learning. It is of great significance in predicting natural phenomena, optimizing engineering design, and other fields. However, there is currently no efficient method to solve over-determined equations, either being not accurate enough or consuming a lot of time. In this article, we propose a parallel iterative method for solving over-determined equations, called the PIOD algorithm. By using a sub-convergence condition to terminate the iterative calculation, we have developed a task partitioning strategy for the algorithm and implemented parallelization of the solution of over-determined equations on a distributed memory system. Our proposed algorithm achieves an average speedup of 152 ×times compared to the open-source Eigen solver. Additionally, it also achieves a parallel efficiency of over 30%. © 2023 IEEE.

We designed a reconfigurable dual-interferometer coupled silicon nitride microring *** tuning the integrated heater on interferometer's arms,the"critical coupling"bandwidth of resonant mode is continuously adjustable whose quality factor varies from 7.9×10^(4) to 1.9×10^(5) with the extinction ratio keeping higher than 25 *** a variety of coupling spanning from"under-coupling"to"over-coupling"were achieved,showing the ability to tune the quality factor from 6.0×10^(3) to 2.3×10^(5).Our design can provide an adjustable filtering method on silicon nitride photonic chip and contribute to optimize the nonlinear process for quantum photonics and all-optical signal processing.

Adaptive Occlusion Face Recognition Feature Fusion Network Based on Precise Guidance Mask Extraction

The uncertainty in the position and size of occluding objects greatly affects the extraction of identity features in facial recognition, which is a challenge that existing methods fail to effectively address. To tackle this issue, this paper introduces a novel feature fusion network for occluded facial recognition that adaptively handles arbitrary occlusions and accurately extracts occlusion information masks. The network effectively mitigates the impact of occlusions on facial identity features through a feature fusion module. The proposed method employs an occlusion classification module and an occlusion classification loss to precisely guide the extraction of accurate occlusion masks. Subsequently, an occlusion-aware hybrid attention module is introduced, which focuses on the relationship between facial features and occlusion masks across channel and spatial dimensions. This fusion strategy enables the extraction of facial identity features that are resilient to occlusions. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method holds a significant advantage in handling facial recognition tasks with arbitrary occlusions. On the LFW and MF1 synthetic occlusion datasets, the average accuracy rates reached 93.19% and 72.57%, respectively, showing improvements of 1.7 and 2.39 percent points over mainstream methods. © Shanghai Jiao Tong University 2025.

This paper adopts an efficient time-domain hybrid method to solve the complex field-to-wire coupling model. Under the irradiation of high frequency electromagnetic pulse, the transient response of different types and different lengths of cables arranged in parallel in a large engine room model is simulated. By analyzing the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) inside and outside the model, the three-dimensional current distribution on the model surface and the shielding effectiveness of the model, the results show that the aircraft shell itself has good electromagnetic protection characteristics. In addition, the experimental results by numerical simulation show that improving the electromagnetic protection capability of the fuselage, adopting the shielded cable structure and changing the wiring mode can effectively improve the shielding effectiveness of the inner cable of the fuselage under the irradiation of high-energy electromagnetic pulse. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper,we propose a finite volume Hermite weighted essentially non-oscillatory(HWENO)method based on the dimension by dimension framework to solve hyperbolic conservation *** can maintain the high accuracy in the smooth region and obtain the high resolution solution when the discontinuity appears,and it is compact which will be good for giving the numerical boundary ***,it avoids complicated least square procedure when we implement the genuine two dimensional(2D)finite volume HWENO reconstruction,and it can be regarded as a generalization of the one dimensional(1D)HWENO *** numerical tests are performed to verify the high resolution and high accuracy of the scheme.

Discovering latent themes in aviation safety reports using text mining and network analytics

Aviation accidents,referring to unexpected and undesirable events involving aircraft,often cause great damage to property and human *** from historical accidents is pivotal for improving safety in ***,aviation accidents are typically documented and stored as unstructured or semi-structured free-text,rendering the ability to analyze such data a difficult *** study presents a novel framework that combines text mining and network analytics techniques to provide the ability to analyze aviation accident reports *** framework comprises a four-step modelling approach to:(1)the transformation of unstructured aviation safety report texts into structured numeric matrices using the TF-IDF matrix;(2)the identification of aviation accident topics using a structural topic model(STM);(3)the production of a word co-occurrence network(WCN)to determine the interrelations between aviation safety risk factors;and(4)quantitative analysis by technology of keywords to pinpoint key causal factors in aviation safety *** proposed framework is validated by analyzing aviation accident reports collected by the National Transportation Safety Board(NTSB).The results indicate that STM provides a more granular partitioning of topics and better distinguishes between similar events compared to traditional latent dirichlet allocation(LDA).Among the identified topics,“Fuel and Power”and“En-route Phase”have the highest occurrence rate according to ***,“Aircraft Crash”is the most prevalent topic in aviation accidents that resulted in fatal injuries,whereas the“Landing phase”is the most prevalent topic in nonfatal injuries on *** on the WCN,three centrality measures highlight“inspection of equipment”and“take off”as the most important risk factors in aviation *** proposed framework provides a comprehensive solution for in-depth analysis of aviation safety reports,offering decision support for aviation safety management and ac

In this paper, a fast direct method based on adaptive cross approximation (ACA) is used to calculate the electromagnetic field of the waveport which is a difficulty when analyzing metal-dielectric filter models. Different from the traditional method of moments (MoM), the system matrix is divided into blocks and then compressed in this method which greatly improves the calculation efficiency while ensuring the calculation accuracy. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate that the proposed ACA can efficiently and accurately calculate the metal-dielectric filter models. © 2024 IEEE.
