Elucidating spin correlations in the parent compounds of high-temperature superconductors is crucial for understanding superconductivity. We used neutron scattering to study spin correlations in Li1−xFexODFeSe, an insulating material with reduced electron carriers compared to its superconducting counterpart (Tc=41 K), serving as the undoped parent compound. Our findings show a reduced total fluctuating moment in this insulator relative to FeSe and 122 iron pnictides, likely due to increased interlayer distances from intercalation, which enhance fluctuations and reduce the intensity of spin excitations. Moreover, we observed a V-shaped spin wavelike excitation dispersion, contrasting with the twisted hourglass pattern in the superconducting counterpart. Electron doping shifts spin excitation from (π,0) point to an incommensurate position towards (π,π) direction below 65 meV. This transition from V-shaped to hourglasslike dispersion, akin to behaviors in hole-doped cuprates, suggests a potential shared mechanism in magnetism and superconductivity across these diverse systems.

Software clone detection is an active research area, which is very important for software maintenance, bug detection, etc. The two pieces of cloned code reflect some similarities or equivalents in the syntax or structure of the code representations. There are many representations of code like AST, token, PDG, etc. The PDG (Program Dependency Graph) of source code can contain both syntactic and structural information. However, most existing PDG-based tools are quite time-consuming and miss many clones because they detect code clones with exact graph matching by using subgraph isomorphism. In this paper, we propose a novel PDG-based code clone detector, CCGraph, that uses graph kernels. Firstly, we normalize the structure of PDGs and design a two-stage filtering strategy by measuring the characteristic vectors of codes. Then we detect the code clones by using an approximate graph matching algorithm based on the reforming WL (Weisfeiler-Lehman) graph kernel. Experiment results show that CCGraph retains a high accuracy, has both better recall and F1-score values, and detects more semantic clones than other two related state-of-the-art tools. Besides, CCGraph is much more efficient than the existing PDG-based tools.

Topological physics of phonon spectra has been attracting great interest. Using the first-principle calculations and symmetry analysis, we show the realistic ternary nitride Li6WN4 features ideal (nearly flat) nodal-surface and nodal-line structures in its phonon spectra. These nodal degeneracies are shaped like lanterns, and their existence is guaranteed by nonsymmorphic symmetry. The corresponding topological phonon surface state covers exactly half the surface Brillouin zone and can thereby be distinguished from those of conventional nodal-line and nodal-surface semimetals. Our study enriches the classification of topological quantum phases, predicts ideal material candidates, and provides a good platform for investigating the interaction between nodal-line and nodal-surface phonons.

A lower power 25Gb/s 16:1 multiplexer using 65nm CMOS technology for 400Gb/s Ethernet (400GbE) physical layer (PHY) interface was presented. CMOS+CML mixed logic is adopted to achieve hierarchical architecture, avoiding the high clock requirement of one-step structure and improving the transmission speed. In order to reduce power while achieving high data rate, multiplexing structure is also optimized by utilizing multi-frequency multi-phase technology which not only ensures the requirement of the phase stabilization, but also leaves out some flip-flops. For CMOS-CML conversion circuit, transmission gate and cross-coupled CMOS inverter are used to match the delay of CMOS inverter, suppressing the effect of common-mode noise. Simulation results show that the multiplexer works correctly and jitter of output signal is less than 0.1UI. When voltage is 1.2V, the total power is 32.7mW at 25Gb/s. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

Determining the Origin of Very-high-energy Gamma Rays from Galactic Sources by Future Neutrino Observations

Recently, the Large high Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) identified 12 γ-ray sources emitting gamma rays with energies above 100 TeV, making them potential PeV cosmic-ray accelerators (PeVatrons). Neutrino observations are crucial in determining whether the gamma-ray radiation process is of hadronic or leptonic origin. In this paper, we study three detected sources, LHAASO J1908+0621, LHAASO J2018+3651, and LHAASO J2032+4102, which are also the most promising galactic high-energy neutrino candidate sources with the lowest pre-trial p-value based on the stacking searches testing for excess neutrino emission by IceCube Neutrino Observatory. We study the lepto-hadronic scenario for the observed multiband spectra of these LHAASO sources considering the possible counterpart source of the LHAASO sources. The very-high-energy gamma rays are entirely attributed to the hadronic contribution, therefore the most optimistic neutrino flux can be derived. Then, we evaluate the statistical significance (p-value) as a function of observation time of IceCube and the next-generation IceCube-Gen2 neutrino observatory respectively. Our results tend to disfavor that all gamma rays above 100 GeV from LHAASO J1908+0621 are of purely hadronic origin based on current IceCube observations, but the purely hadronic origin of gamma rays above 100 TeV is still possible. By IceCube-Gen2, the origin of gamma rays above 100 TeV from LHAASO J1908+0621 can be further determined at a 5σ significance level within a running time of ∼ 3 years. For LHAASO J2018+3651 and LHAASO J2032+4102, the required running time of IceCube-Gen2 is ∼ 10 years (3σ) and ∼ 10 years (5σ), respectively. Future observations by the next-generation neutrino telescope will be crucial to understanding the particle acceleration and radiation processes inside the sources. © 2023, CC BY.

ALLIANCE-ROS:A Software Framework on ROS for Fault-Tolerant and Cooperative Mobile Robots

Programming control systems for mobile robots is complicated and time-consuming, due to three aspects, i.e., the robot behavior coordination, the distributed multi-robot cooperation and the robot software reusability. Subsumption model is a robust control architecture for mobile robots. ALLIANCE model extends it to multirobot systems, which is a fully distributed, fault-tolerant model. Robot operating system(ROS) provides a lot of reusable robot modules. By combining the above three, we propose a software framework named ALLIANCE-ROS for developing fault-tolerant cooperative multi-robot systems with abundant software resources available. We encapsulate the ROS facilities to build the framework *** also use some high-performance plugin-based mechanism to optimize the bottom of the framework. One may use the framework-provided API conveniently to construct single-robot and multi-robot applications with all ROS resources available. This work is demonstrated by three application cases including an autonomous roving robot, a security patrol robot and multiple patrol robots. They are constructed and tested in both the simulated and the real environment. The experimental results validate the usability and availability of ALLIANCE-ROS.

Split-step quintic B-spline collocation methods for parabolic equations with variable coefficients in two dimensions

The split-step quintic B-spline collocation (SS5BC) scheme is constructed by combining the split-step approach with the quintic B-splines collocation (5BC) method for two-dimensional parabolic equations with variable coefficients. As the classic writing is unclear and complicated, new notations are introduced. The stability of the SS5BC scheme is discussed by Von Neumann method. Numerically, the scheme is verified to be convergent with second-order in time and fourth-order in space. The present SS5BC scheme is also compared with the split-step cubic B-spline collocation (SS3BC) method and the classic 5BC scheme, and the SS5BC method is superior to the later two.

Multimodality eye disease screening is crucial in ophthalmology as it integrates information from diverse sources to complement their respective performances. However, the existing methods are weak in assessing the reliability of each unimodality, and directly fusing an unreliable modality may cause screening errors. To address this issue, we introduce a novel multimodality evidential fusion pipeline for eye disease screening, EyeMoSt, which provides a measure of confidence for unimodality and elegantly integrates the multimodality information from a multi-distribution fusion perspective. Specifically, our model estimates both local uncertainty for unimodality and global uncertainty for the fusion modality to produce reliable classification results. More importantly, the proposed mixture of Student's t distributions adaptively integrates different modalities to endow the model with heavy-tailed properties, increasing robustness and reliability. Our experimental findings on both public and in-house datasets show that our model is more reliable than current methods. Additionally, EyeMost has the potential ability to serve as a data quality discriminator, enabling reliable decision-making for multimodality eye disease screening. © 2023, CC BY.

Cross-lingual Machine Reading Comprehension (CLMRC) remains a challenging problem due to the lack of large-scale annotated datasets in low-source languages, such as Arabic, Hindi, and Vietnamese. Many previous approaches use translation data by translating from a rich-source language, such as English, to low-source languages as auxiliary supervision. However, how to effectively leverage translation data and reduce the impact of noise introduced by translation remains onerous. In this paper, we tackle this challenge and enhance the cross-lingual transferring performance by a novel augmentation approach named Language Branch Machine Reading Comprehension (LBMRC). A language branch is a group of passages in one single language paired with questions in all target languages. We train multiple machine reading comprehension (MRC) models proficient in individual language based on LBMRC. Then, we devise a multilingual distillation approach to amalgamate knowledge from multiple language branch models to a single model for all target languages. Combining the LBMRC and multilingual distillation can be more robust to the data noises, therefore, improving the model’s cross-lingual ability. Meanwhile, the produced single multilingual model can apply to all target languages, which saves the cost of training, inference, and maintenance for multiple models.
