The relationship between magnetic order and the second harmonic generation (SHG) effect is a fundamental area of study in condensed matter physics with significant practical implications. In order to gain a clearer understanding of this intricate relation, this study presents a comprehensive classification scheme for the SHG effect in magnetically ordered materials. This framework offers a straightforward approach to connect magnetic order and SHG effect. The characteristics of the SHG tensors in all magnetic point groups are studied using the isomorphic group method, followed by a comprehensive SHG effect classification scheme that includes seven types based on the symmetries of the magnetic phases and their corresponding parent phases. In addition, a tensor dictionary containing the SHG and linear magneto-optic (LMO) effect is established. Furthermore, an extensive SHG database of magnetically ordered materials is also built up. This classification strategy exposes an anomalous SHG effect with even characteristic under time-reversal symmetry, which is solely contributed by magnetic structure. We provide an overview of quantum photonic network on chip. We begin from the discussion of the pros and cons of several material platforms for engineering quantum photonic chips. Then we introduce and analyze the basic building blocks and functional units of quantum photonic integrated circuits. In the main part of this review, we focus on the generation and manipulation of quantum states of light on chip and are particularly interested in some applications of advanced integrated circuits with different functionalities for quantum information processing, including quantum communication, quantum computing, and quantum simulation. We emphasize that developing fully integrated quantum photonic chip which contains sources of quantum light, integrate circuits, modulators, quantum storage, and detectors are promising approaches for future quantum photonic technologies. Recent achievements in the large scale photonic chips for linear optical computing are also included. Finally, we illustrate the challenges toward high performance quantum information processing devices and conclude with promising perspectives in this field.

In the realm of marine and coastal structures, laser cladding technology has demonstrated an immense potential in the structural and material repair. This study conducted a series of single-layer single-track laser cladding experiments on grade Q235 low-carbon steels, utilizing grade 316 L stainless steel powders under various laser powers, scanning speeds, and powder feeding rates. Subsequently, the process parameters were optimized based on the Response Surface Methodology (RSM). Furthermore, single-layer multi-track and multi-layer single-track laser cladding tests were performed to ascertain optimal overlap ratios, scanning patterns, and lifting amounts. Finally, the repair efficacy of optimized process parameters on corroded specimens was validated through standardized tensile testing. The results reveal that the laser power, scanning speed, and powder feeding rate significantly impact the formation quality and morphology of the cladding quality. Notably, the depth of the heat-affected zone (HAZ) increases proportionally with the increase in laser power and inversely with the decrease in scanning speed. Moreover, a well-matched powder feeding rate with laser energy is crucial to ensure a full and continuous morphology of the cladding tracks. Furthermore, the regression models were established, which exhibited a high predictive accuracy for the depth of the HAZ, the width-to-height ratio, and the dilution rate in laser cladding. The optimal parameters for single-layer single-track laser cladding were determined to be a laser power of 1405.9 W, a scanning speed of 12.68 mm/s, and a powder feeding rate of 0.7 rad/min. Finally, based on a comparative analysis of single-layer multi-track and multi-layer single-track laser cladding experiments, it is recommended that the overlap ratio should be maintained within the range of 31.58–42.11 %, and a lifting amount of 0.63 mm. Among countless channels of hard exclusive reactions, the kaon electromagnetic form factors (EMFFs) are of special interest, which have been measured up to Q2 ∼ 50 GeV2 in the timelike domain. The kaon EMFFs thereby serve an ideal platform to critically examine the validity and effectiveness of perturbative QCD (pQCD) in accounting for hard exclusive processes. In this work we confront the pQCD predictions that incorporate the next-to-next-to-leading-order (NNLO) perturbative corrections, with the available kaon EMFFs data set from experimental measurements and from lattice predictions. The inclusion of the NNLO corrections turns out to have a substantial and positive impact. If the profiles of the kaon light-cone distribution amplitudes (LCDAs) are taken from the recent lattice QCD prediction by LPC Collaboration, the satisfactory agreement between theory and data can be reached for both charged and neutral kaons, in both spacelike and timelike large-Q2 domains. © 2024, CC BY.

Nodal line semimetal(NLS) is a new quantum state hosting one-dimensional closed loops formed by the crossing of two bands. The so-called type-Ⅱ NLS means that these two crossing bands have the same sign in their slopes along the radial direction of the loop, which requires that the crossing bands are either right-tilted or left-tilted at the same time. According to the theoretical prediction, Mg3Bi2 is an ideal candidate for studying the type-Ⅱ NLS by tuning its spin-orbit coupling(SOC). high-quality Mg3 Bi2 films are grown by molecular beam epitaxy(MBE). By in-situ angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy(ARPES), a pair of surface resonance bands around theГ point are clearly seen. This shows that Mg3Bi2 films grown by MBE are Mg(1)-terminated by comparing the ARPES spectra with the first principles calculations results. Moreover, the temperature dependent weak anti-localization effect in Mg3Bi2 films is observed under magneto-transport measurements, which shows clear two-dimensional(2 D) e-e scattering characteristics by fitting with the Hikami–Larkin–Nagaoka model. Therefore, by combining with ARPES, magneto-transport measurements and the first principles calculations, this work proves that Mg3Bi2 is a semimetal with topological surface states. This paves the way for Mg3Bi2 to be used as an ideal material platform to study the exotic features of type-Ⅱ nodal line semimetals and the topological phase transition by tuning its SOC.

Although the logically-centralized perspective is offered in Software-Defined Networks (SDNs), the data plane is still distributed in nature. Update commands sent by the centralized controller are executed asynchronously and independently in each switch. The timed SDNs enable synchronous and coordinate update operations as each update command can be triggered by a pre-defined time point. Prior work on timed update mainly focuses on how to produce a congestion-free update sequence, whereas finding a congestion-free timed update sequence may be too long to be applied in practice, even worse, such an update order may not exist. In this paper, we propose Chronus + , a timed update system that utilizes switch buffer to shorten the update time while minimizing the switch buffer size during updates. We formulate the Minimum Switch Buffer Size Problem (MSBSP) as an optimization program and show its hardness. A set of efficient algorithms is proposed to determine a timed update sequence in polynomial time. Extensive evaluations in Mininet and large-scale simulations show that Chronus + can reduce the update time by at least 17% and the switch buffer by at least 27% compared with state-of-the-art approaches.

Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) interpolation based mesh deformation is an explicit technique adopted by large-scale mesh computation for Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD). To obtain the optimum interpolating points set, greedy algorithm is utilized widely in the interpolation process. However, greedy algorithm will bring additional time cost because of its recycling point selection. This paper proposes a parallel iteration algorithm for greedy selection based IDW mesh deformation in OpenFOAM (a widely used software of CFD).The iteration method is proposed based on that some computing values are recycling in greedy loop and it make the computational complexity reduce from O(n 3 ) to O(n 2 ). The parallel algorithm is based on the re-decompositon method which can greatly keep the load balancing. The experiments are operated on a three-dimensional undulating fish model with 3.7 × 10 5 mesh cells. Results show that our parallel iteration method could obtain a more than 18.2 times performance increase, compared with the conventional greedy algorithm applied in IDW interpolation.

SC3EF: A Joint Self-Correlation and Cross-Correspondence Estimation Framework for Visible and Thermal Image Registration

Multispectral imaging plays a critical role in a range of intelligent transportation applications, including advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), traffic monitoring, and night vision. However, accurate visible and thermal (RGB-T) image registration poses a significant challenge due to the considerable modality differences. In this paper, we present a novel joint Self-Correlation and Cross-Correspondence Estimation Framework (SC3EF), leveraging both local representative features and global contextual cues to effectively generate RGB-T correspondences. For this purpose, we design a convolution-transformer-based pipeline to extract local representative features and encode global correlations of intra-modality for inter-modality correspondence estimation between unaligned visible and thermal images. After merging the local and global correspondence estimation results, we further employ a hierarchical optical flow estimation decoder to progressively refine the estimated dense correspondence maps. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method, outperforming the current state-of-the-art (SOTA) methods on representative RGB-T datasets. Furthermore, it also shows competitive generalization capabilities across challenging scenarios, including large parallax, severe occlusions, adverse weather, and other cross-modal datasets (e.g., RGB-N and RGB-D). The leading-order perturbative QCD (pQCD) predictions to nucleon electromagnetic form factors were first made in late 70s. Nearly half a century later, we accomplish the calculation of the next-to-leading-order (NLO) QCD corrections to proton and neutron’s Dirac form factors at large momentum transfer, to the leading-twist accuracy in collinear factorization. The NLO hard-scattering kernel is computed in the Krankl and Manashov renormalization scheme. The effect of NLO perturbative corrections turns out to be positive and substantial. Confronting our state-of-the-art pQCD predictions with the available data for nucleon Dirac form factors, in both space-like and time-like regions, imposes a stringent test on the validity of the parameterized forms of nucleon leading-twist light-cone-distribution amplitudes (LCDAs), which have been predicted by a class of QCD sum rules-based models and lattice QCD simulation. It is challenging to verify the design and analysis software adequately for nuclear power areas because of the inflated cost, time-consuming benchmark problems development, and few verification examples. This situation is called the test oracle problem. Metamorphic testing cleverly combines the specific properties of physical equations and numerical algorithms with software verification. Without constructing numerical solutions or verification examples, it verifies the software by checking whether the input and output of multiple executions meet the metamorphic relations. Since metamorphic relation is the nature rules of physical models and numerical algorithms, it is not restricted to specific code implementation technology. Therefore, it is no doubt that metamorphic testing is a promising technique to alleviate the test oracle *** relation is the key to metamorphic testing, which consists of input pattern and output pattern. The former can be obtained through manual analysis by industry experts, while the latter does not have a system identification method. An output pattern identification method based on the solution figure has been introduced here. Specifically, the input pattern is received by artificially analyzing the physical property of the program under test. Next, a group of test inputs has been generated according to such patterns. The calculation results are received after those inputs drive the program. Moreover, the function form of the output pattern is guided by the image of the results. Finally, metamorphic relation is constructed by input pattern and output pattern. For a demonstration of this method’s details, a nuclide burnup calculation code is employed here, namely NUIT. By investigating the resulting image of 3820 isotopes, their output pattern classification models have been established according to the burnup depth and nuclide density.
