Training and deploying reinforcement learning (RL) policies for robots, especially in accomplishing specific tasks, presents substantial challenges. Recent advancements have explored diverse reward function designs, training techniques, simulation-to-reality (sim-to-real) transfers, and performance analysis methodologies, yet these still require significant human intervention. This paper introduces an end-to-end framework for training and deploying RL policies, guided by Large Language Models (LLMs), and evaluates its effectiveness on bipedal robots. The framework consists of three interconnected modules: an LLM-guided reward function design module, an RL training module leveraging prior work, and a sim-to-real homomorphic evaluation module. This design significantly reduces the need for human input by utilizing only essential simulation and deployment platforms, with the option to incorporate human-engineered strategies and historical data. We detail the construction of these modules, their advantages over traditional approaches, and demonstrate the framework’s capability to autonomously develop and refine controlling strategies for bipedal robot locomotion, showcasing its potential to operate independently of human intervention. Coordinated Guiding Vector Field Design for Ordering-Flexible Multi-Robot Surface Navigation

We design a distributed coordinated guiding vector field (CGVF) for a group of robots to achieve ordering-flexible motion coordination while maneuvering on a desired two-dimensional (2D) surface. The CGVF is characterized by three terms, i.e., a convergence term to drive the robots to converge to the desired surface, a propagation term to provide a traversing direction for maneuvering on the desired surface, and a coordinated term to achieve the surface motion coordination with an arbitrary ordering of the robotic group. By setting the surface parameters as additional virtual coordinates, the proposed approach eliminates potential singularity of the CGVF and enables both the global convergence to the desired surface and the maneuvering on the surface from all possible initial conditions. The ordering-flexible surface motion coordination is realized by each robot to share with its neighbors only two virtual coordinates, i.e. that of a given target and that of its own, which reduces the communication and computation cost in multi-robot surface navigation. Learning from Noisy Labels with Coarse-to-Fine Sample Credibility Modeling

Training deep neural network (DNN) with noisy labels is practically challenging since inaccurate labels severely degrade the generalization ability of DNN. Previous efforts tend to handle part or full data in a unified denoising flow via identifying noisy data with a coarse small-loss criterion to mitigate the interference from noisy labels, ignoring the fact that the difficulties of noisy samples are different, thus a rigid and unified data selection pipeline cannot tackle this problem well . In this paper, we first propose a coarse-to-fine robust learning method called CREMA, to handle noisy data in a divide-and-conquer manner. In coarse-level, clean and noisy sets are firstly separated in terms of credibility in a statistical sense. Since it is practically impossible to categorize all noisy samples correctly, we further process them in a fine-grained manner via modeling the credibility of each sample. Specifically, for the clean set, we deliberately design a memory-based modulation scheme to dynamically adjust the contribution of each sample in terms of its historical credibility sequence during training, thus alleviating the effect from noisy samples incorrectly grouped into the clean set. Meanwhile, for samples categorized into the noisy set, a selective label update strategy is proposed to correct noisy labels while mitigating the problem of correction error. Extensive experiments are conducted on benchmarks of different modality, including image classification (CIFAR, Clothing1M etc) and text recognition (IMDB), with either synthetic or natural semantic noises, demonstrating the superiority and generality of CREMA. © 2022, CC BY.

Traditional recurrent neural networks are composed of capacitors, inductors, resistors, and operational *** neural networks are constructed by replacing resistors with memristors. This paper focuses on the memory analysis,i.e. the initial value computation, of memristors. Firstly, we present the memory analysis for a single memristor based on memristors’ mathematical models with linear and nonlinear ***, we present the memory analysis for two memristors in series and parallel. Thirdly, we point out the difference between traditional neural networks and those that are memristive. Based on the current and voltage relationship of memristors, we use mathematical analysis and SPICE simulations to demonstrate the validity of our methods.

As the largest class of small non-coding RNAs, piRNAs primarily present in the reproductive cells of mammals, which influence post-transcriptional processes of mRNAs in multiple ways. Effective methods for predicting piRNA and mRNA target relationships can help identify piRNA functions, investigate the possibility of piRNAs as biomarkers and therapeutic targets. In this study, we propose a computational approach for classifying the relationships of piRNA-mRNA pairs based on an interactive inference network (IIN). First, we gather piRNA-mRNA target data, collect sequence data by position alignment, and construct a benchmark dataset. Furthermore, a reliable negative set is constructed by positive-unlabeled learning. Finally, we view a piRNA and a mRNA sequence as a premise and hypothesis sentence, respectively, and IIN model is used to predict the relationship between them. The experiments demonstrate that our method effectively characterizes piRNA-mRNA interaction and could be beneficial for researchers to investigate piRNA functions.

Blind source separation with high reverberation and echoes is an open and extremely challenging issue. Because the room reverberation and echoes have an important influence on acoustics quality, bringing great difficulty to the independent source separation. In the paper, an adaptive time-frequency blind source separation (ATF-BSS) algorithm is designed to deal with the high reverberation and echoes, which can adaptively attenuate the audible echoes and enhance the harmonic structure of the real-world audio signals, achieving excellent separation performance. Firstly, an equalizer network is designed for the room impulse response to weakening audible echoes under the high reverberation and echo environments without changing the perceived timbre. Furthermore, an adaptive time-frequency Wiener-like masking is presented to enhance the dominant signal and attenuate the other components having less energy than the dominant signal. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first attempt to incorporate the advantages of an equalizer network for removing or weakening audible echoes and adaptive time-frequency masking to solve blind separation with high reverberation and echoes. Experimental results on the public audio datasets demonstrate that the proposed ATF-BSS algorithm improves signal intelligibility and achieves much better separation performance than the state-of-the-art methods. © 2023, The Authors. This paper studies the asymptotic stability of nonlin-ear systems which is regulated by using fuzzy impulsive control. First of all, the system was formulated, the Lyapunov function was constructed, and then the fuzzy control component required for the nonlinear system to exhibit global asymptotic exponential stability under the regulation of the impulsive controller was developed. A unique fuzzy concept was introduced herein, which, compared to the conventional precise counterpart, was defined to perform only scalar approximations. Subsequently, a set of conditions sufficient for global asymptotic exponential stability was proposed for the impulsive controller. Halany inequality and its key generalizations were used while working out the mathematical proofs. Finally, examples were given to verify the general results obtained and their applicability. © 2022 IEEE.

The data-driven attack strategies recently have received much attention when the full knowledge of the system model is unknown or difficult to be obtained for the adversary. Note that despite the critical parameters of the system model being unavailable for the adversary, the existing data-driven attack methods still depend on the linearity of the unknown system model. In this paper, we design a completely model-free attack strategy where the adversary with limited capability aims to compromise state variables such that the output value follows the expected trajectory. Specifically, we first construct a zeroth-order feedback optimization framework and uninterruptedly use probing signals for real-time measurements. Then, we iteratively update the attack signals along the composite direction of the gradient estimates of the objective function evaluations and the projected gradients. These objective function evaluations can be obtained only by real-time measurements. Furthermore, we characterize the optimality of these solutions via the optimality gap, which is affected by the dimensions of the attack signal, the iterations of solutions, and the convergence rate of the system. Extensive simulations are conducted to show the effectiveness of the proposed attack strategy.

Blind source separation in an underdetermined reverberation environment is a very challenging issue. The classical method is based on the expectation-maximization algorithm. However, it is limited in a high reverberation environment, resulting in bad or even invalid separation performance. To get rid of this restriction, a room impulse response reshaping-based blind source separation algorithm is designed to solve the signal separation problem in an underdetermined reverberant environment. Firstly, a room impulse response reshaping technology is designed to eliminate the influence of audible echo for the reverberant environment, improving the quality of the received signals. Then, a new mathematical model of time-frequency mixing signals is established to reduce the approximation error of model transformation caused by high reverberation. Furthermore, an improved expectation-maximization algorithm is proposed for real-time update learning rules of model parameters, and then the sources are separated using the estimators provided by the improved expectation maximization method. Experimental results based on source separation of speech and music mixtures demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves better separation performance while maintaining much better robustness than the popular expectation-maximization methods. © 2023, The Authors. Most existing one-shot skeleton-based action recognition focuses on raw low-level information (e.g., joint location), and may suffer from local information loss and low generalization ability. To alleviate these, we propose to leverage text description generated from large language models (LLM) that contain high-level human knowledge, to guide feature learning, in a global-local-global way. Particularly, during training, we design 2 prompts to gain global and local text descriptions of each action from an LLM. We first utilize the global text description to guide the skeleton encoder focus on informative joints (i.e.,global-tolocal). Then we build non-local interaction between local text and joint features, to form the final global representation (i.e., local-to-global). To mitigate the asymmetry issue between the training and inference phases, we further design a dual-branch architecture that allows the model to perform novel class inference without any text input, also making the additional inference cost neglectable compared with the base skeleton encoder. Extensive experiments on three different benchmarks show that CrossGLG consistently outperforms the existing SOTA methods with large margins, and the inference cost (model size) is only 2.8% than the previous SOTA. CrossGLG can also serve as a plug-and-play module that can substantially enhance the performance of different SOTA skeleton encoders with a neglectable cost during inference.
