This paper tackles the Zero-Shot Sketch-Based image Retrieval (ZS-SBIR) problem from the viewpoint of cross-modality metric learning. This task has two characteristics: 1) the zero-shot setting requires a metric space with good within-class compactness and the between-class discrepancy for recognizing the novel classes and 2) the sketch query and the photo gallery are in different modalities. The metric learning viewpoint benefits ZS-SBIR from two aspects. First, it facilitates improvement through recent good practices in deep metric learning (DML). By combining two fundamental learning approaches in DML, e.g., classification training and pairwise training, we set up a strong baseline for ZS-SBIR. Without bells and whistles, this baseline achieves competitive retrieval accuracy. Second, it provides an insight that properly suppressing the modality gap is critical. To this end, we design a novel method named Modality-Aware Triplet Hard Mining (MATHM). MATHM enhances the baseline with three types of pairwise learning, e.g., a cross-modality sample pair, a within-modality sample pair, and their combination. We also design an adaptive weighting method to balance these three components during training dynamically. Experimental results confirm that MATHM brings another round of significant improvement based on the strong baseline and sets up new state-of-the-art performance. For example, on the TU-Berlin dataset, we achieve 47.88+2.94% mAP@all and 58.28+2.34% Prec@100. Code will be publicly available. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper studies the problem of distributed consensus tracking control for multi-robot systems with different friction coefficients and external disturbances based on the multi-agent *** the case where the communication topology is a weighted directed graph and leader node is the neighbor of a small portion of the follower *** follower nodes are modeled as two second-order nonlinear dynamical system with coupling parts.A distributed robust adaptive control law based on the neural networks(NN) is designed for each follower node,where the controller requires only relative state information from its adjacent *** such control scheme,the states of all follower nodes ultimately synchronize to the leader node with bounded residual *** results are provided to validate the effectiveness of the algorithm.

It is not foolproof for intrusion detection to focus only on the network level and the program level. Internal security and external security of information systems should be given equal attention. User-level intrusion detection can deter and curtail attackers from damaging information systems. Even if the mimic attacker has gained and enhanced the host user privileges that he illegally obtained. In this paper, a novel method based on recurrent neural networks (RNNs) is used to predict user command sequences and prophesy user behaviors. The experimental results show that our command sequence-to-sequence model is robust and effective for solving long sequential problem on three different data sets including Purdue University data set, SEA data set and self-collected data set. © 2020 - IOS Press and the authors. The excitation unit is the weak link in the generator operation since it produces internal deterioration under long-term operation. To evaluate the health condition of the key excitation unit and generate warning information in advance, this work proposes a health assessment method based on the Gaussian mixture model (GMM) and LSTM neural network. Firstly, the weights of each type of data will be determined by obtaining the electrical parameter data of the generator excitation unit from the SIS system, using the infrared image data of carbon brush and excitation transformer based on infrared image acquisition system, and the correlation between each electrical parameter data and temperature on account of the MIC correlation analysis method. On the top of it, LSTM neural network prediction model is established. And establish a GMM-based health benchmark model based on the data collected in the field during healthy operation, and design the health decline index HDI using the Marxist distance for evaluating the health status and deterioration degree of the unit. Finally, the method of this paper is validated by the 2022 operation data of a thermal power plant in Weihai, which proved that this method can provide a basis for regular maintenance and early identification of faults in the power plan and quantifying the degradation degree of the excitation unit under long-term operation and making early warning before the abnormal occurrence of the unit. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

This paper proposes an adaptive back-stepping tracking control with prescribed performance function for vehicle suspension systems with uncertain parameters. The prescribed performance function can lead the tracking error from a large set to an arbitrarily small residual set. Firstly, the constrained tracking error system incorporating the prescribed performance functions is transformed into unconstrained form. Then an adaptive updating scheme based on the projection algorithm is designed to estimate the uncertain parameter. Following that an adaptive nonlinear controller is designed using the back-stepping technique, and the stability of whole controlled systems is proved by the Lyapunov theory. Meanwhile, the state convergence of the internal dynamical system is also guaranteed. Finally, simulation results are provided to verify the proposed approach.

I Can Read Your Mind: control Mechanism Secrecy of Networked Dynamical Systems under Inference Attacks

Recent years have witnessed the fast advance of security research for networked dynamical system (NDS). Considering the latest inference attacks that enable stealthy and precise attacks into NDSs with observation-based learning, this article focuses on a new security aspect, i.e., how to protect control mechanism secrets from inference attacks, including state information, interaction structure and control laws. We call this security property as control mechanism secrecy, which provides protection of the vulnerabilities in the control process and fills the defense gap that traditional cyber security cannot handle. Since the knowledge of control mechanism defines the capabilities to implement attacks, ensuring control mechanism secrecy needs to go beyond the conventional data privacy to cover both transmissible data and intrinsic models in NDSs. The prime goal of this article is to summarize recent results of both inference attacks on control mechanism secrets and countermeasures. We first introduce the basic inference attack methods on the state and structure of NDSs, respectively, along with their inference performance bounds. Then, the corresponding countermeasures and performance metrics are given to illustrate how to preserve the control mechanism secrecy. Necessary conditions are derived to guide the secrecy design. Finally, thorough discussions on the control laws and open issues are presented, beckoning future investigation on reliable countermeasure design and tradeoffs between the secrecy and control performance. The accessibility and transitivity have an important significance in terms of theory and application. The concept of the accessibility and transitivity are introduced in this paper. We study their dynamical properties. The following result are obtained: (l)Let (K , G ) be the hyperspace of (X , G ). Then ( X , G ) is accessible if and only if (K , G ) is accessible;(2) Let (K , G) be the hyperspace of (X , G). Then (X , G ) is transitive if and only if (K , G ) is transitive. These results enriched the theory of the accessibility and transitivity of topological group. © 2020 IEEE.

Counting and analysis of leukocyte on peripheral blood smears have great significance to assist doctors’ pathological diagnosis. Thus, accurate and automatic segmentation of leukocyte from blood smear images is a fundamental task. To achieve this task, we proposed an end-to-end peripheral blood leukocyte segmentation method based on deep convolutional neural networks, where the encoder-decoder network is its basic structure. Specifically, the proposed method first utilizes the feature encoder to extract multi-scale leukocyte features. Then, the context-aware feature decoder is introduced to reconstruct the segmentation mask of leukocyte. Finally, each layer generates a prediction map in the decoder module, and all these prediction maps are averaged to be the final prediction map. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, we performed qualitative and quantitative comparisons with several existing methods on two publicly available datasets and a private dataset. Experimental results validate that the proposed method is superior for peripheral blood leukocyte image segmentation in terms of accuracy and robustness. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The appearance analysis and counting of peripheral blood leukocytes can assist the diagnosis of blood diseases such as leukemia. Therefore, it is necessary to automatically extract leukocytes from blood smear images. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end peripheral blood leukocyte image segmentation method based on fully convolutional neural network, which can not only encode multi-scale contextual information, but also capture clear boundary information through decoding. Specifically, the proposed method first utilizes the context-aware feature encoder with residual convolutions to extract a set of multi-scale features. Then, a refinement module of parallel dilated convolutions with multiple dilation rates for expanding the receptive field of the feature maps is introduced to aggregate contextual information. Finally, clear prediction results are reconstructed by the context-aware feature decoder and skip connections. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method on two publicly available datasets. © 2020 IEEE.

Dual-Camera All-in-Focus Neural Radiance Fields

We present the first framework capable of synthesizing the all-in-focus neural radiance field (NeRF) from inputs without manual refocusing. Without refocusing, the camera will automatically focus on the fixed object for all views, and current NeRF methods typically using one camera fail due to the consistent defocus blur and a lack of sharp reference. To restore the all-in-focus NeRF, we introduce the dual-camera from smartphones, where the ultra-wide camera has a wider depth-of-field (DoF) and the main camera possesses a higher resolution. The dual camera pair saves the high-fidelity details from the main camera and uses the ultra-wide camera’s deep DoF as reference for all-in-focus restoration. To this end, we first implement spatial warping and color matching to align the dual camera, followed by a defocus-aware fusion module with learnable defocus parameters to predict a defocus map and fuse the aligned camera pair. We also build a multi-view dataset that includes image pairs of the main and ultra-wide cameras in a smartphone. Extensive experiments on this dataset verify that our solution, termed DC-NeRF, can produce high-quality all-in-focus novel views and compares favorably against strong baselines quantitatively and qualitatively. We further show DoF applications of DC-NeRF with adjustable blur intensity and focal plane, including refocusing and split diopter. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.
