Quantum emitters are a key component in photonic quantum technologies. Enhancing single-photon emission by engineering their photonic environment is essential for improving overall efficiency in quantum information processing. However, this enhancement is often limited by the need for ultraprecise emitter placement within conventional photonic cavities. Inspired by the fascinating physics of moiré pattern, we propose a multilayer moiré photonic crystal with a robust isolated flatband. Theoretical analysis reveals that, with nearly infinite photonic density of states, the moiré cavity simultaneously has a high Purcell factor and large tolerance over the emitter’s position, breaking the constraints of conventional cavities. We then experimentally demonstrate various cavity quantum electrodynamic phenomena with a quantum dot in moiré cavity. A large tuning range (up to 40-fold) of quantum dot’s radiative lifetime is achieved through strong Purcell enhancement and inhibition effects. In the conventional person Re-ID setting, it is assumed that cropped images are the person images within the bounding box for each individual. However, in a crowded scene, off-shelf-detectors may generate bounding boxes involving multiple people, where the large proportion of background pedestrians or human occlusion exists. The representation extracted from such cropped images, which contain both the target and the interference pedestrians, might include distractive information. This will lead to wrong retrieval results. To address this problem, this paper presents a novel deep network termed Pedestrian-Interference Suppression Network (PISNet). PISNet leverages a Query-Guided Attention Block (QGAB) to enhance the feature of the target in the gallery, under the guidance of the query. Furthermore, the involving Guidance Reversed Attention Module and the Multi-Person Separation Loss promote QGAB to suppress the interference of other pedestrians. Our method is evaluated on two new pedestrian-interference datasets and the results show that the proposed method performs favorably against existing Re-ID methods. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In this paper, we propose an image saliency detection method by using multi-feature and manifold-space ranking. Basically, the proposed method extracts the color-histogram feature to obtain the fine information of the image, and the color-mean feature to obtain the coarse information respectively. To further improve the detection accuracy of the feature correlation between different image units, a manifold-space ranking method is used to calculate saliency values of image units to construct a saliency map on each feature-space. Specifically, we fuse the two saliency maps to obtain the final saliency map. Extensive experiments demonstrate that the proposed method not only outperforms the other methods, but also improves the accuracy and robustness of the saliency detection. © 2021 ACM.

Decoupled and memory-reinforced networks: Towards effective feature learning for one-step person search

The goal of person search is to localize and match query persons from scene images. For high efficiency, one-step methods have been developed to jointly handle the pedestrian detection and identification sub-tasks using a single network. There are two major challenges in the current one-step approaches. One is the mutual interference between the optimization objectives of multiple sub-tasks. The other is the sub-optimal identification feature learning caused by small batch size when end-to-end training. To overcome these problems, we propose a decoupled and memory-reinforced network (DMRNet). Specifically, to reconcile the conflicts of multiple objectives, we simplify the standard tightly coupled pipelines and establish a deeply decoupled multi-task learning framework. Further, we build a memory-reinforced mechanism to boost the identification feature learning. By queuing the identification features of recently accessed instances into a memory bank, the mechanism augments the similarity pair construction for pairwise metric learning. For better encoding consistency of the stored features, a slow-moving average of the network is applied for extracting these features. In this way, the dual networks reinforce each other and converge to robust solution states. Experimentally, the proposed method obtains 93.2% and 46.9% mAP on CUHK-SYSU and PRW datasets, which exceeds all the existing one-step methods. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Unit commitment (UC) is a central market clearing process in wholesale electricity markets. With the increasing size and complexity of market-clearing models, UC problems become more and more complicated. To improve the computation efficiency, this paper tightens UC formulations with the general start-up ramp rate. Through analyzing their parameters over three periods, units are categorized into several categories for constructing corresponding tight formulations, and three of the categories are beyond existing works. By applying a recent systematic formulation tightening approach on top of these categories, new tight constraints of the general start-up ramp rate have been obtained. Numeral testing results illustrate the tightening process and demonstrate the improvement of computational efficiency when using our tightened formulations.

The multi-energy system (MES) takes into account different forms of energy such as electricity, heat, and gas, and coordinate the different processes from the side of supply to demand. It truly realizes the mutual complementation of multiple energy resources and can greatly improve the flexibility and efficiency compared to traditional energy systems. In this paper, we study the economic dispatch (ED) problem in the MES aiming to minimize both generation and pollution cost. A distributed method via the symmetric alternating direction multiplier method (symmetric-ADMM) is proposed to deal with non-convex factors caused by coupling between different energy sources. Through the dynamic consensus mechanism and the variational inequality, we prove that the proposed algorithm has the convergence rate of $\mathcal{O}\left( {\frac{1}{t}} \right)$. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified by simulations on the IEEE 24-bus system.

In the era of artificial intelligence with big data as the background, the statistical analysis method based on complex network has become a research hotspot and actively promoted the development of big data visualization. Complex network is a new discipline developed by cross research with other disciplines. Its network topology has obvious clustering characteristics, that is, complex network cluster structure. Together with small world and scale-free, it is called the three most important and basic attributes of complex network topology. The fundamental purpose of complex network clustering algorithm is to detect the actual network cluster structure in complex network, which has very important practical value for mining the cluster structure in network and understanding its characteristics, and is conducive to understanding the functions of network, such as predicting the development of complex network, analyzing the behavior of social network, discovering hot topics on network, etc. This paper combines the methods and ideas of complex network analysis, carries out the method design and research of organization analysis, and tries to solve the relationship and characteristics of inter departmental cooperation within the organization.

Genetic algorithm (GA) is an effective method for path planning problems. As a powerful variant of GA, island genetic algorithm (IGA) has considerable improvement in performance. In this paper, a new island model of GA is proposed to avoid the premature phenomenon and achieve better efficiency. First, a new method of creating subpopulations is presented based on K-means to expand the searching area for the optima. Meanwhile, recombining subpopulations is proposed as a new strategy to improve the diversity of populations and save computational time. Moreover, a method is designed based on Monte Carlo sampling to handle the uncertainty of maps. Comparative experiments are presented to verify the efficiency of the proposed algorithm. Then, a proper number of samples is found by simulation to balance the accuracy and the time cost of Monte Carlo sampling.

Aiming at the high demands of temperature and precision in the aspect of additive manufacturing, a method based on CNN was proposed for estimating measurement. The network was trained through the collected laser thermal radiation images for image recognition and isotherm estimation after modeling a CNN. The experimental conclusion verifies that the isotherm detection and temperature estimation of the laser point can be efficiently implemented in proposed method. © 2020 Institute of Physics Publishing. Influence of Si buffer layer on the crystal quality of SiGe films in Ge/Si/SiGe heterostructures: A molecular dynamics investigation

SiGe materials have become a research hotspot due to their important applications in semiconductor devices, especially in optoelectronic and high-speed electronic devices. In this study, based on molecular dynamics simulations, the influence of the Si buffer layer on the quality of films in Ge/Si/SiGe heterostructures is investigated. By simulating the growth process of the Ge/Si/SiGe heterostructure, a deposition model based on Ge(100) substrates is established. Inspired by the concept of reverse gradient buffer layers, Si buffer layers are directly grown on Ge substrates, followed by the deposition of SiGe films. This study primarily investigates the effects of the growth temperature and deposition thickness of the Si buffer layer on the quality of SiGe films. Based on the deposition parameters identified as suitable under the current simulation conditions (620 °C, 9.7 nm), the influence of the buffer layer on SiGe films with varying Ge compositions is further analyzed. The results show that the dislocations and stacking faults formed in the Si buffer layer effectively relieve the stress caused by lattice mismatch, thus improving the crystal quality of the subsequent SiGe films. This study provides theoretical insights into the Ge/Si/SiGe heterostructure film growth process, which helps enhance the quality of SiGe films and expands their applications in semiconductor devices. © 2025
