As a popular evolutionary algorithm, artificial bee colony (ABC) algorithm has been successfully applied into the threshold-based image segmentation problem. Based on our analysis, we find that the Otsu segmentation function is separable which means each variable is independent. Due to its one-dimensional search strategy and relative power global but poorer local search abilities, ABC could find an acceptable but not precise segmentation results. For making more precise search and further enhancing the achievements on image segmentation, we propose an Otsu segmentation method based on a new ABC algorithm with an improved scout bee strategy. Different from the traditional scout bee strategy, we use a local search strategy when a bee stagnates for a defined value. The experimental results on Berkeley segmentation database demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm. © 2020, Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH. All rights reserved.

In this paper, a high sensitive voltage detector is proposed and its electrical characteristics are investigated using technology computer-aided design (TCAD) simulation. Germanium (Ge) source and line configuration TFET is adopted to obtain an ultra sensitive detection capability. Corresponding operating principle is explained and the impact of the key parameters on the voltage detector is also discussed. The simulation results show that the new proposed Ge source line TFET based voltage detector has a low leakage current and high detection sensitivity under the electrostatic discharge (ESD) and surge events compared to traditional detectors.

Attribute-specific control units in StyleGAN for fine-grained image manipulation

image manipulation with StyleGAN has been an increasing concern in recent years. Recent works have achieved tremendous success in analyzing several semantic latent spaces to edit the attributes of the generated images. However, due to the limited semantic and spatial manipulation precision in these latent spaces, the existing endeavors are defeated in fine-grained StyleGAN image manipulation, i.e., local attribute translation. To address this issue, we discover attribute-specific control units, which consist of multiple channels of feature maps and modulation styles. Specifically, we collaboratively manipulate the modulation style channels and feature maps in control units rather than individual ones to obtain the semantic and spatial disentangled controls. Furthermore, we propose a simple yet effective method to detect the attribute-specific control units. We move the modulation style along a specific sparse direction vector and replace the filter-wise styles used to compute the feature maps to manipulate these control units. We evaluate our proposed method in various face attribute manipulation tasks. Extensive qualitative and quantitative results demonstrate that our proposed method performs favorably against the state-of-the-art methods. Semi-supervised learning (SSL) has proven to be a powerful algorithm in different domains by leveraging unlabeled data to mitigate the reliance on the tremendous annotated data. However, few efforts consider the underlying temporal relation structure of unlabeled time series data in the semi-supervised learning paradigm. In this work, we propose a simple and effective method of Semi-supervised Time series classification architecture (termed as SemiTime) by gaining from the structure of unlabeled data in a self-supervised manner. Specifically, for the labeled time series, SemiTime conducts the supervised classification directly under the supervision of the annotated class label. For the unlabeled time series, the segments of past-future pair are sampled from time series, where two segments of pair from the same time series candidate are in positive temporal relation, while two segments from the different candidates are in negative temporal relation. Then, the temporal relation between those segments is predicted by SemiTime in a self-supervised manner. Finally, by jointly classifying labeled data and predicting the temporal relation of unlabeled data, the useful representation of unlabeled time series can be captured by SemiTime. Extensive experiments on multiple real-world datasets show that SemiTime consistently out-performs the state-of-the-arts, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method.

FireMatch: A Semi-Supervised Video Fire Detection Network Based on Consistency and Distribution Alignment

Deep learning techniques have greatly enhanced the performance of fire detection in videos. However, video-based fire detection models heavily rely on labeled data, and the process of data labeling is particularly costly and time-consuming, especially when dealing with videos. Considering the limited quantity of labeled video data, we propose a semi-supervised fire detection model called FireMatch, which is based on consistency regularization and adversarial distribution alignment. Specifically, we first combine consistency regularization with pseudo-label. For unlabeled data, we design video data augmentation to obtain corresponding weakly augmented and strongly augmented samples. The proposed model predicts weakly augmented samples and retains pseudo-label above a threshold, while training on strongly augmented samples to predict these pseudo-labels for learning more robust feature representations. Secondly, we generate video cross-set augmented samples by adversarial distribution alignment to expand the training data and alleviate the decline in classification performance caused by insufficient labeled data. Finally, we introduce a fairness loss to help the model produce diverse predictions for input samples, thereby addressing the issue of high confidence with the non-fire class in fire classification scenarios. The FireMatch achieved an accuracy of 76.92% and 91.81% on two real-world fire datasets, respectively. Over the past few years, deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) based semantic segmentation methods reached the state-of-the-art performance. To train a model with the ability to know a concept, a lot of pixel level annotated images are required, which is time consuming and hard to cover unseen object categories. Thus, few-shot semantic segmentation has been developed to implement segmentation with a few annotation images. In this paper, we proposed a novel prototype mixing model for few shot segmentation. Different with other works which only produce prototypes form support set, our proposed model learn a group of concept-specific prototypes from support set and then generate prototypes from query set. With prototypes from both query set and support set, we proposed a GCN(Graphic Convolutional Network) module to generate mixing prototypes for better utilizing of informations from different categories. We also proposed a clustering module to produce multi-prototypes for representing different parts of a single semantic class, which reach better performance than single prototype. Our model achieve 48.8% and 55.9%mIoU score on PASCAL-5i for 1-shot and 5-shot settings respectively.

Scale-free distributed control for the DC MG cluster under DoS attacks: An asynchronous switched strategy

This paper studies the voltage restoration problem of the DC Microgrid (MG) cluster with a two-layer communication structure under Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks. Based on the open multiagent framework, an asynchronous switching strategy is designed to suppress the impact of DoS attacks on the entire MG cluster's voltage restoration. Meanwhile, we derived the relationship between attack model parameters and communication link switching mode selection through the general model of DoS attacks and asynchronous switching methods based on average dwell time. Moreover, the designed distributed control protocol is scale-free;that is, it does not rely on any information from the two-layer communication structure and the number of distributed generations (DGs), which makes it universal. Through rigorous theoretical proof, it has been proven that in the DC MG cluster with two-layer communication structures, voltage restoration can be achieved regardless of the number and structure of DGs being attacked. Finally, two simulation examples on the MATLAB/SimPowerSystem, including a DC MG cluster consisting of 8 DGs and an IEEE 33-node system are used to investigate the scalability and flexibility of the proposed distributed control algorithm. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

Mobile robotic networks (MRNs) have received considerable attention in recent years. Among their wide applications, the interaction topology plays a critical role in achieving efficient cooperation. We demonstrate that the observable interaction process of MRNs under formation control will reveal the interaction topology, presenting increasingly viable threats to the security of MRNs. To practice, we focus on a general situation where the external observer has only partial observation over the global MRN and aims to infer the interaction topology. This is a very challenging problem because the observable state evolution is a coupled consequence of the underlying interaction topology, the unknown leader dynamics, and the unobservable part. To address this issue, we novelly identify the steady pattern of the MRN and filter the impacts of the observable parts by shrinking the inference range. By constructing the informative dataset reflecting the interaction process, the local interaction topology is approximated with high accuracy. Simulations illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.

Gene splicing site recognition is a very important research topic in smart healthcare. Gene splicing site recognition is of great significance, not only for the large-scale and high-quality computational annotation of genomes but also for the analysis and recognition of the gene sequences evolutionary process. It is urgent to study a reliable and effective algorithm for gene splice site recognition. Traditional Twin Support Vector Machine (TWSVM) algorithm has advantages in solving small-sample, nonlinear, and high-dimensional problems, but it cannot deal with parameter selection well. To avoid the blindness of parameter selection, particle swarm optimization algorithm was used to find the optimal parameters of twin support vector machine. Therefore, a Particle Swarm Optimization Twin Support Vector Machine (PSO-TWSVM) algorithm for gene splicing site recognition was proposed in this paper. The proposed algorithm was compared with traditional Support Vector Machine algorithm, TWSVM algorithm, and Least Squares Support Vector Machine algorithm. The comparison results show that the positive sample recognition rate, negative sample recognition rate, and correlation coefficient (CC) of the proposed algorithm are the best among the four different support vector machine algorithms. The proposed algorithm effectively improves the recognition rate and the accuracy of splice sites. The comparison experiments verify the feasibility of the proposed algorithm. © 2023 Fuquan Zhang et al.
