In this work, we propose an efficient and accurate monocular 3D detection framework in single shot. Most successful 3D detectors take the projection constraint from the 3D bounding box to the 2D box as an important component. Four edges of a 2D box provide only four constraints and the performance deteriorates dramatically with the small error of the 2D detector. Different from these approaches, our method predicts the nine perspective keypoints of a 3D bounding box in image space, and then utilize the geometric relationship of 3D and 2D perspectives to recover the dimension, location, and orientation in 3D space. In this method, the properties of the object can be predicted stably even when the estimation of keypoints is very noisy, which enables us to obtain fast detection speed with a small architecture. Training our method only uses the 3D properties of the object without any extra annotations, category-specific 3D shape priors, or depth maps. Our method is the first real-time system (FPS > 24) for monocular image 3D detection while achieves state-of-the-art performance on the KITTI benchmark. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Recently, Transformer-based methods have shown impressive performance in single image super-resolution (SISR) tasks due to the ability of global feature extraction. However, the capabilities of Transformers that need to incorporate contextual information to extract features dynamically are neglected. To address this issue, we propose a lightweight Cross-receptive Focused Inference Network (CFIN) that consists of a cascade of CT Blocks mixed with CNN and Transformer. Specifically, in the CT block, we first propose a CNN-based Cross-Scale information Aggregation Module (CIAM) to enable the model to better focus on potentially helpful information to improve the efficiency of the Transformer phase. Then, we design a novel Cross-receptive Field Guided Transformer (CFGT) to enable the selection of contextual information required for reconstruction by using a modulated convolutional kernel that understands the current semantic information and exploits the information interaction within different self-attention. Extensive experiments have shown that our proposed CFIN can effectively reconstruct images using contextual information, and it can strike a good balance between computational cost and model performance as an efficient model. In many real-world machine learning applications, unlabeled data can be easily obtained, but it is very timeconsuming and/or expensive to label them. So, it is desirable to be able to select the optimal samples to label, so that a good machine learning model can be trained from a minimum amount of labeled data. Active learning (AL) has been widely used for this purpose. However, most existing AL approaches are supervised: they train an initial model from a small amount of labeled samples, query new samples based on the model, and then update the model iteratively. Few of them have considered the completely unsupervised AL problem, i.e., starting from zero, how to optimally select the very first few samples to label, without knowing any label information at all. This problem is very challenging, as no label information can be utilized. This paper studies unsupervised pool-based AL for linear regression problems. We propose a novel AL approach that considers simultaneously the informativeness, representativeness, and diversity, three essential criteria in AL. Extensive experiments on 14 datasets from various application domains, using three different linear regression models (ridge regression, LASSO, and linear support vector regression), demonstrated the effectiveness of our proposed approach. Multi-party learning provides solutions for training joint models with decentralized data under legal and practical constraints. However, traditional multi-party learning approaches are confronted with obstacles such as system heterogeneity, statistical heterogeneity, and incentive design. How to deal with these challenges and further improve the efficiency and performance of multi-party learning has become an urgent problem to be solved. In this paper, we propose a novel contrastive multi-party learning framework for knowledge refinement and sharing with an accountable incentive mechanism. Since the existing parameter averaging method is contradictory to the learning paradigm of neural networks, we simulate the process of human cognition and communication, and analogize multiparty learning as a many-to-one knowledge sharing problem. The approach is capable of integrating the acquired explicit knowledge of each client in a transparent manner without privacy disclosure, and it reduces the dependence on data distribution and communication environments. The proposed scheme achieves significant improvement in model performance in a variety of scenarios, as we demonstrated through experiments on several real-world datasets. —In clinical practice, electroencephalography (EEG) plays an important role in the diagnosis of epilepsy. EEG-based computer-aided diagnosis of epilepsy can greatly improve the accuracy of epilepsy detection while reducing the workload of physicians. However, there are many challenges in practical applications for personalized epileptic EEG detection (i.e., training of detection model for a specific person), including the difficulty in extracting effective features from one single view, the undesirable but common scenario of lacking sufficient training data in practice, and the no guarantee of identically distributed training and test data. To solve these problems, we propose a TSK fuzzy system-based epilepsy detection algorithm that integrates multi-view collaborative transfer learning. To address the challenge due to the limitation of single-view features, multi-view learning ensures the diversity of features by extracting them from different views. The lack of training data for building a personalized detection model is tackled by leveraging the knowledge from the source domain (reference scene) to enhance the performance of the target domain (current scene of interest), where mismatch of data distributions between the two domains is resolved with adaption technique based on maximum mean discrepancy. Notably, the transfer learning and multi-view feature extraction are performed at the same time. Furthermore, the fuzzy rules of the TSK fuzzy system equip the model with strong fuzzy logic inference capability. Hence, the proposed method has the potential to detect epileptic EEG signals effectively, which is demonstrated with the positive results from a large number of experiments on the CHB-MIT dataset. © 2021, CC BY-NC-ND.

Finite-size scaling of geometric renormalization flows in complex networks

Some characteristics of complex networks need to be derived from global knowledge of the network topologies, which challenges the practice for studying many large-scale real-world networks. Recently, the geometric renormalization technique has provided a good approximation framework to significantly reduce the size and complexity of a network while retaining its “slow” degrees of freedom. However, due to the finite-size effect of real networks, excessive renormalization iterations will eventually cause these important “slow” degrees of freedom to be filtered out. In this paper, we systematically investigate the finite-size scaling of structural and dynamical observables in geometric renormalization flows of both synthetic and real evolutionary networks. Our results show that these observables can be well characterized by a certain scaling function. Specifically, we show that the critical exponent implied by the scaling function is independent of these observables but depends only on the structural properties of the network. To a certain extent, the results of this paper are of great significance for predicting the observable quantities of large-scale real systems and further suggest that the potential scale invariance of many real-world networks is often masked by finite-size effects.

The problem of insecurity is a global crisis with adverse effects on lives and properties. Fermatean fuzzy correlation coefficient is a dependable method for handling imprecision, which is the main bottleneck of insecurity assessment. A number of Fermatean fuzzy correlation coefficient methods have been developed. Based on Spearman's correlation coefficient, an innovative Fermatean fuzzy correlation coefficient method is built to enhance trustworthy insecurity assessment. The existing Fermatean fuzzy correlation coefficient methods are evaluated, and their shortcomings are identified in order to validate the construction of a new Fermatean fuzzy correlation coefficient method. The drawbacks of the existing methods lead us into building a new Fermatean fuzzy correlation coefficient method by using the Spearman's correlation coefficient approach, which has the potential of overcoming the drawbacks of the existing Fermatean fuzzy correlation coefficient methods. In addition, some theoretical findings are provided to support the strength of the novel Fermatean fuzzy correlation coefficient method and it is shown that the new method satisfies the Fermatean fuzzy correlation coefficient requirements. Furthermore, the novel Fermatean fuzzy correlation coefficient method is applied to assess the insecurity situation in the North-Central Region of Nigeria to furnish intended tourists with relevant travel advice. To demonstrate the inherent significance of the novel Fermatean fuzzy correlation coefficient method, we compare its effectiveness to that of the extant Fermatean fuzzy correlation coefficient methods. The results of the comparison show the superiority of the novel Fermatean fuzzy correlation coefficient method over the existing ones in terms of reliability, consistency, precision and compliance with the Fermatean fuzzy correlation coefficient axioms. Ultimately, it is discovered that the new method can effectively address hesitations related to insecurity assessment
