Nowadays, more and more datasets are stored in a distributed way for the sake of memory storage or data privacy. The generalized eigenvalue problem (GEP) plays a vital role in a large family of high-dimensional statistical models. However, the existing distributed method for eigenvalue decomposition cannot be applied in GEP for the divergence of the empirical covariance matrix. Here we propose a general distributed GEP framework with one-shot communication for GEP. If the symmetric data covariance has repeated eigenvalues, e.g., in canonical component analysis, we further modify the method for better convergence. The theoretical analysis on approximation error is conducted and the relation to the divergence of the data covariance, the eigenvalues of the empirical data covariance, and the number of local servers is analyzed. The current of the distribution networks under 66kV is widely operating in small current grounding mode. The problem of extracting the fault feature in each line would be quite difficult due to the short duration of the transient zero sequence current with the non-stationary and non-linear characteristics when the single-phase-to-ground fault occurs in the system. Therefore, a novel method of single-phase-to-ground fault line selection for small current based on Fast S-transform (FST) is developed in this paper. Firstly, FST is presented to transform the transient electric current signal in each feeder, after that the one-dimension modulus and phase angle value can been obtained. Then, the feeder with the largest energy value calculated by the modulus obtained above is selected as the alternative possible fault line. Finally, line failure or bus failure can been determined by evaluating the difference of the phase angle between the fault line and the comparison line that has been selected from the non-alternative feeders before. The results of the simulative and experimental circuits reveal that the proposed method using FST can avoid the influence of neural point grounding type. Additionally, the method of line selection is quite accurate and real-time. © 2018 IEEE.

Solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) systems efficiently convert chemical energy into electricity but produce high-temperature exhaust gases containing unreacted fuels. The afterburner combusts these residual fuels to enhance heat recovery and system efficiency, with its performance influenced by stack fuel composition variations. This study investigates how fuel utilization rate ( U f ) and steam-to-carbon ratio (S/C) affect afterburner combustion characteristics in a 1 kW methane-reformed SOFC system. Results showed maximum afterburner temperature decreased from 981.3 K to 835 K as U f increased to 0.6, while S/C minimally impacted temperature distribution. A dimensionless stability index was developed to quantitatively assess combustion performance. An image-based analysis approach extracted five key parameters describing flame characteristics under varying conditions. These parameters supported the development of a three-tier hierarchical classification framework to identify weak, stable, and unstable combustion states, achieving an overall recognition accuracy of 74.5 %. These findings provide insights into SOFC operating parameters, residual stack fuel compositions, and afterburner stability relationships. The proposed assessment methodology offers guidance for optimizing thermal management and improving energy recovery efficiency in SOFC systems.

In this paper, a chunk-based multi-strategy machine translation method is proposed. Firstly, an English-Chinese bilingual tree-bank is constructed. Then, a translation strategy based on the chunk that combines statistics and rules is used in the translation stage. Through hierarchical sub-chunks, the input sentence is divided into a set of chunk sequence. Each chunk searches the corresponding instance in the corpus. Translation is completed by recursive refinement from chunks to words. Conditional Random Fields model is used to divide chunks. An experimental English-Chinese translation system is deployed, and experimental results show that the system performs better than the Systran system. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

Compared with traditional machine learning, intrusion detection based on deep learning has the advantage of feature extraction. Auto-encoders, owing to having good feature extraction and dimensionality reduction ability, are known for the superior performance. However, the network structure selection is time-consuming and laborious. The essential features cannot be automatically extracted according to different distribution characteristics of the data set. Moreover, the existing data pre-processing method fails to adapt the model better. Based on the stack sparse auto-encoders(SSAE), we propose a new intrusion detection model named DBSO-SSAE. The algorithm is based on difference brain storm optimization(DBSO) which automatically adapts to selection network framework. Meanwhile, a new normalization strategy is introduced to further improve the accuracy of the model. The simulation results show that DBSO-SSAE greatly reduces the complexity of manual tuning and increases the adaptability of the network model.

Aiming at the problem that the correlation coefficient method cannot judge the deformation of the transformer winding when the measured frequency response curve is the same as the reference frequency response curve(frequency response analysis,FRA) and the amplitude is different, this paper proposed a new transformer winding diagnosis method based on signal *** method can accurately determine whether the winding is deformed according to the mutual distance value [0, 1] by calculating the mutual distance between the measured frequency response curve and the reference frequency response *** the simulation experiment and the national standard judgment criterion, the criteria for judging the deformation of the winding by mutual distance were *** simulation results show that the method is sensitive, reliable and universal.

Swarm intelligence based on the bionics have become an emerging research field, and researchers have proposed some kinds of intelligent models, such as ant colony, free group wolves, fish flock, insects group, bacteria and bacteria immune etc. The behavior of common features is: the individual behavior and function is simple, but a rally for the swarm after a complex cluster behavior ability. In mobile swarm group individuals within a certain space can keep a certain distance to avoid collision in order to group coordinated movement. In this paper, an attempt has been made to optimize the continuous and collaborative of the swarm, when the swarm nodes in the process of moving and turning. This paper puts forward the Multi-Restrained Artificial Pigeon Group (MR-APG) model based on multiple constraint factors, and introduce the concepts of quantitative coordination of nodes to optimize the nodes "over-dispersion" or "over-assembly" phenomenon. The experimental results show that, the higer α1 value will lead to average movement synchronization ratio μsync of MR-APG model will be lower. The results also show that, comparing with the traditional A/R model (μsync = 73%) and 3D-VFA model (μsync = 84%), the proposed MR-APG method can make μsync equal to 95%, moreover, its only takes half time of A/R model to make μsync equal to 80%. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

Rolling bearing faults are among the primary causes of breakdown in mechanical equipment. Aiming at the vibration signals of rolling bearing which are non-stationary and easy to be disturbed by noise, a novel fault diagnosis method based on curvelet transform and metric learning is proposed. This method consists of 3 parts. The first one is feature engineering which includes reshaping the original timing features of rolling bearings, employing curvelet transform to transform reshaped features and making its coefficients as the new features. Curvelet transform can analyse the original signal from many angles. The second one is employing metric learning to map these new features into special embedding space. The last one is applying KNN classifier to detect the rolling bearing faults. Metric learning can effectively improve the performance of KNN by learning a mapping matrix to modify the distribution of samples. The proposed method overcomes the problems such as the subjectivity and blindness of manual feature extraction, poor coupling in each stage and sensitive to the effect of noise. Extensive simulations based on several data-sets show that the our method has better performance on bearing fault diagnosis than traditional methods.

Pneumatic Muscles (PMs) - driven exoskeleton has a promising prospect in the field of rehabilitation and assistance, because of the PMs intrinsic features of compliance and high force-to-weight ratio. However, the precise control of PMs-driven exoskeleton still remains a challenging problem due to the hysteresis, time-varying parameters of PMs and complexity of the mechanism. To solve this problem, this paper presents a super twisting controller (STC), essentially a second-order sliding mode control, to realize the human gait tracking control of lower limb exoskeleton. As a result, the disturbances and uncertainties of the system can be handled, and the chattering caused by the traditional sliding mode control (SMC) could be eliminated. The stability of the closed-loop system is ensured according to the Lyapunov theorem. In addition, we conduct experiments in real exoskeleton system and the results illustrate the validity of the super twisting algorithm..

Different Set Domain Adaptation for Brain-Computer Interfaces: A Label Alignment Approach

A brain-computer interface (BCI) system usually needs a long calibration session for each new subject/task to adjust its parameters, which impedes its transition from the laboratory to real-world applications. Domain adaptation, which leverages labeled data from auxiliary subjects/tasks (source domains), has demonstrated its effectiveness in reducing such calibration effort. Currently, most domain adaptation approaches require the source domains to have the same feature space and label space as the target domain, which limits their applications, as the auxiliary data may have different feature spaces and/or different label spaces. This paper considers different set domain adaptation for BCIs, i.e., the source and target domains have different label spaces. We introduce a practical setting of different label sets for BCIs, and propose a novel label alignment (LA) approach to align the source label space with the target label space. It has three desirable properties: 1) LA only needs as few as one labeled sample from each class of the target subject;2) LA can be used as a preprocessing step before different feature extraction and classification algorithms;and, 3) LA can be integrated with other domain adaptation approaches to achieve even better performance.
