Achieving consensus via nearest neighbor rules is an important prerequisite for multi-agent networks to accomplish collective tasks. A common assumption in consensus setup is that each agent interacts with all its neighbors. This paper examines whether network functionality and performance can be maintained-and even enhanced-when agents interact only with a subset of their respective (available) neighbors. As shown in the paper, the answer to this inquiry is affirmative. In this direction, we show that by exploring the monotonicity property of the Laplacian eigenvectors, a neighbor selection rule with guaranteed performance enhancements, can be realized for consensus-type networks. For distributed implementation, a quantitative connection between entries of Laplacian eigenvectors and the "relative rate of change" in the state between neighboring agents is further established;this connection facilitates a distributed algorithm for each agent to identify "favorable" neighbors to interact with. Multi-agent networks with and without external influence are examined, as well as extensions to signed networks. This paper underscores the utility of Laplacian eigenvectors in the context of distributed neighbor selection, providing novel insights into distributed data-driven control of multi-agent systems. Deep convolutional neural networks have been widely used in scene classification of remotely sensed images. In this work, we propose a robust learning method for the task that is secure against partially incorrect categorization of images. Specifically, we remove and correct errors in the labels progressively by iterative multi-view voting and entropy ranking. At each time step, we first divide the training data into disjoint parts for separate training and voting. The unanimity in the voting reveals the correctness of the labels, so that we can train a strong model with only the images with unanimous votes. In addition, we adopt entropy as an effective measure for prediction uncertainty, in order to partially recover labeling errors by ranking and selection. We empirically demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method on the WHU-RS19 dataset and the AID dataset. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper considers the problem of monitoring and adaptively estimating an environmental field, such as temperature or salinity, using an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV). The AUV moves in the field and persistently measures environmental scalars and its position in its local coordinate frame. The environmental scalars are approximately linearly distributed over the region of interest, and an adaptive estimator is designed to estimate the gradient. By orthogonal decomposition of the velocity of the AUV, a linear time-varying system is equivalently constructed, and the sufficient conditions on the motion of the AUV are established, under which the global exponential stability of the estimation error system is rigorously proved. Furthermore, an estimate of the exponential convergence rate is given, and a reference trajectory that maximizes the estimate of the convergence rate is obtained for the AUV to track. Numerical examples verify the stability and efficiency of the system.

Quantum trajectory can be viewed as a numerical simulation method for wavefunctions which consume smaller memories compared to density matrices in master equations. In this paper, we adopt quantum trajectory to simulate the evolution of a non-Markovian quantum system modeled by an augmented system and further use parallel computing to improve efficiency. Compared to the Lindblad master equation solver in QuTiP, it can run more efficiently using less memory. In the example of a 8-spin-chain non-Markovian system, it only takes about 0.57% of the memory footprint and 4.12% of the runtime of the solver for the Lindblad master equation.

Spatial audio is an important component of the metaverse. With the rapid increase of the spatial resolution and the number of objects, the data volume of the spatial side information has grown larger. However, the low bit rate transmission of spatial side information in the object-based audio coding methods leads to the low-quality reconstruction of spatial side information with limited bandwidth. To address this issue, this paper constructs a cascade design of spatial audio coding and unequal error protection (UEP) rateless codes. Furthermore, the further protection of specific spatial side information is proposed for different scenarios, which effectively addresses the limitation of traditional spatial audio coding in side information protection. For the situation where the code length K of different importance levels is different, we propose an adaptive degree distribution (ADD), adding K to the selection probability as an influencing factor, which has better performance than other degree distribution for short code length. ADD is used to replace the multiple degree distribution strategy of the traditional unequal error protection scheme, and the block error rate (BER) is reduced nearly 10 times compared with the traditional scheme.

In heterogeneous scenes with latent non-deterministic states, template features determine the performance of the Siamese network-based trackers, however, background noise is easily introduced in the search area matching process, which causes the trackers lack sufficient discrimination. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an object tracking algorithm based on the cyclic memory module. Firstly, the extracted primary features are mapped to the cyclic spatial memory network, the spatial memory unit is used to store the interference components. On this basis, the cyclic structure is used to filter out the interference components and refine the template features. Then a channel correlation network is introduced into the proposed method, which can mine semantic complementary information and capture global contextual relevance by modeling the positive and the negative correlation between the channels. The experimental results on tracking benchmarks such as OTB50, OTB100, UAV123, VOT2018, GOT10k, and LaSOT have shown that the proposed method outperforms recent representative algorithms in tracking accuracy in challenging scenarios. © 2023 Elsevier GmbH

This paper presents an integration of nonlinear disturbance observer within proxy-based sliding mode control (IDO-PSMC) approach for Pneumatic Muscle Actuators (PMAs). Due to the nonlinearities, uncertainties, hysteresis, and timevarying characteristics of the PMA, the model parameters are difficult to be identified accurately, which results in unmeasurable uncertainties and disturbances of the system. To solve this problem, a novel design of proxy-based sliding mode controller (PSMC) combined with a nonlinear disturbance observer (DO) is used for the tracking control of the PMA. Our approach combines both the merits of the PSMC and the DO so that it is effective in both reducing the "chattering" phenomeno n and improving the system robustness. A constrained Firefly Algorithm is used to search for the optimal control parameters. Based on the Lyapunov theorem, the states of the PMA are shown to be globally uniformly ultimately bounded. Extensive experiments were conducted to verify the superior performance of our approach, in multiple tracking scenarios. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.

To improve the performance of the NOx sensor, a combined model based on the electrochemical model and the diffusion model is developed for the NOx pumping cell of the NOx sensor. Considering that a small amount of oxygen enters the third chamber and part of NO is decomposed in the second chamber, the electrochemical model simultaneously considers the reactions of NO and oxygen at cathode, and the diffusion model additionally considers the diffusion of oxygen and the decomposition of NO. To validate the model at different gas concentrations, the sensor is mounted on the designed test rig. Then, the simulation results are compared with experimental data from the test rig and good agreement is obtained. In addition, three key parameters of the model of the NOx pumping cell are analyzed. The values and changing trends of these three parameters are given in the paper. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, with considerations of low efficiency of missile path planning (MPP) by traditional aggregation technology, it uses affinity propagation based multi-objective evolutionary algorithm with hypervolume environment selection (APMO-HV) to solve the problem of MPP after establishing the MPP model. The experimental part compares and analyzes APMO-HV with six state-of-the-art algorithms, and applies it to address the MPP problem. The experimental results show that compared with the other six algorithms, APMO-HV has achieved the best solution performance in both the GLT test suite and MPP problem. This not only validates the effect of the proposed algorithm, but also enriches and improves the research results of MPP.

SCSQ-MDD: A Detection Approach for Multi-Style Strokes of Chinese Characters

In the Chinese character writing task of the robotic arms, the stroke category and position information should be extracted by object detection. The detection algorithms based on predefined anchor frames have difficulty in resolving the differences among many different styles of Chinese character strokes. While the deformable detection transformer (deformable DETR) algorithms without predefined anchor frames result in some invalid sampling points having no contribution to the feature update of the current reference point due to the random sampling of sampling points in the deformable attention module. These processes cause the effectiveness of correlation calculations between reference points in Chinese strokes and their surrounding sampled points is limited. So that the speed of vector learning stroke features in the detection head is reduced. In view of this problem, a new detection method of multi-style strokes of Chinese characters via SCSQ-MDD (Simple Conditional Spatial Query Mask Deformable DETR) is proposed in this paper. Firstly, a mask prediction layer is jointly determined using the shallow feature map of the Chinese character image and the query vector of the transformer encoder, which is used to filter the points with actual contribution and resample the points without contribution, so that the randomness of correlation calculation among reference points is solved. Secondly, by separating the content query and spatial query of the transformer deocder, the content embedding and spatial embedding can be separately focused on when cross-attention computations are performed. Thus the dependence of the prediction task on the content embedding is relaxed and the training process is simplified. Finally, the detection model without predefined anchor frames based on deformable DETR called SCSQ-MDD is constructed using the mask mechanism and the simple conditional spatial query mechanism, and trained and validated on a multi-style Chinese character stroke dataset
