In this paper, we revisit the interval observer design problem of harmonic oscillator system with unknown but bounded external disturbance and measurement noise. With the bounding information of the external disturbance and measurement noise, a high-gain interval observer is firstly defined and constructed for the harmonic oscillator system to realize the interval estimation on the state and the robust control of the system. Then, a switched high-gain interval observer is proposed to reduce the influence of the measurement noise for a tighter interval width on the state estimation. Finally, some numerical simulations are given to verify the theoretical results.

Chaos is shown to occur in the flexible shaft rotating-lifting (FSRL) system of the mono-silicon crystal puller. Chaos is, however, harmful for the quality of mono-silicon crystal production. Therefore, it should be suppressed. Many chaos control methods have been proposed theoretically and some have even been used in applications. For a practical plant displaying harmful chaos, engineers from a specified area usually face with the challenge to identifying chaos and to suppressing it by using a proper method. However, despite of the existing methods, chaos control method selection in the FSRL system is not a trivial task. For example, for the OGY method, if one cannot find a practical adjustable parameter, then the OGY method cannot be applied. An impulsive control method is being proposed which is efficiently able to suppress chaos in the FSRL system. The selection of the control parameters is obtained by using the Melnikov method. Simulation results show the correctness of our theoretical analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed chaos control method. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Cilin is one of the most popular semantic knowledge bases in Chinese information processing. Due to its coding scheme and taxonomical arrangement, some semantic relations among words are not explicitly shown. Our work aims to characterize its semantic relations by adding tags and compound codes to optimize the taxonomy and hierarchy of Cilin. Experiment results show that using the tag-augmented Cilin as a knowledge base improves the performance in the task of semantic similarity measurement.

In this paper, we propose a novel method based on color space volume and multimodal histogram thresholding (MHT) for leukocyte segmentation in human blood smear images under the rapid staining condition. The proposed method first defines a new color space volume to highlight the leukocyte's nucleus region, and it then uses the MHT method to extract the nucleus. Then, the proposed method takes the central region in the superpixel segmentation result as an initial leukocyte region, and it then uses the MHT method to extract the leukocyte region. Finally, the cytoplasm is obtained by subtracting the nucleus region from the leukocyte region. Experimental results on a dataset containing 300 leukocyte images under rapid staining condition show that the proposed method provides a higher segmentation accuracy than the counterparts.

Silicon crystal puller (SCP) is a key equipment in silicon wafer manufacture, which is, in turn, the base material for the most currently used integrated circuit (IC) chips. With the development of the techniques, the demand for longer mono-silicon crystal rod with larger diameter is continuously increasing in order to reduce the manufacture time and the price of the wafer. This demand calls for larger SCP with increasing height, however, it causes serious swing phenomenon of the crystal seed. The strong swing of the seed causes difficulty in the solidification and increases the risk of mono-silicon growth *** main aim of this paper is to analyze the nonlinear dynamics in the FSRL system of the SCP. A mathematical model for the swing motion of the FSRL system is derived. The influence of relevant parameters, such as system damping, excitation amplitude and rotation speed, on the stability and the responses of the system are analyzed. The stability of the equilibrium, bifurcation and chaotic motion are demonstrated, which are often observed in practical situations. Melnikov method is used to derive the possible parameter region that leads to chaotic motion. Three routes to chaos are identified in the FSRL system, including period doubling, symmetry-breaking bifurcation and interior crisis. The work in this paper explains the complex dynamics in the FSRL system of the SCP, which will be helpful for the SCP designers in order to avoid the swing phenomenon in the SCP. The retinal blood vessel analysis has been widely used in the diagnoses of diseases by ophthalmologists. According to the complex morphological characteristics of the blood vessels in normal and abnormal images, an automatic method by using the random walk algorithms based on the centerlines is proposed to segment retinal blood vessels. Hessian-based multiscale vascular enhancement filtering is used to display the vessel structures in maximum intensity projection. Random walk algorithm provides a unique and quality solution, which is robust to weak object boundaries. Seed groups in the random walk segmentation are labeled according to the centerlines, which are extracted by using the divergence of the normalized gradient vector field and the morphological method. Experiments of the proposed method are implemented on the publicly available STARE (the Structured Analysis of the Retina) database. The results are compared to other existing retinal blood vessel segmentation methods with respect to the accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity, and the proposed method is proved to be more sensitive in detecting the retinal blood vessels in both normal and pathological areas. © 2020 Jianqing Gao et al.

Tongue image segmentation is a crucial step in developing an automatic tongue diagnosis system. After exploring characteristics of image thresholding in different color spaces, we propose a simple and effective tongue image segmentation method. Specifically, the proposed method first extracts an initial tongue body region by performing image thresholding on the transformed hue component in HSI (Hue, Saturation, and Intensity) color space. Then, one of two image thresholding results on the red component of an original tongue image is adaptively selected to find the gap region between the tongue body root and the upper lip. Finally, the initial tongue body region is refined by removing fake object regions such as the upper lip to obtain final tongue image segmentation result. Experimental results on a tongue image dataset containing 200 subjects demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2018 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Due to the continuous growth in steel market demand and the shift towards small batches and multiple varieties, efficient storage management has become a key factor in increasing the profitability of logistics parks. However, the current storage methods, due to the unreasonable allocation of stack positions, still result in energy waste during the dispatch phase and the need for trucks to pick up goods across multiple yards. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a comprehensive optimization scheme to reduce truck transfers and energy consumption in steel product dispatch. First, we constructed an optimization problem model that integrates the spatial layout of the logistics park and order data, aiming to maximize the correlation between steel products within the same yard and reduce the total energy consumption during the dispatch phase. Subsequently, a new algorithm called Enhanced Greedy and Tabu-Assisted Adaptive Large Neighborhood Search (EGTA-ALNS) is introduced. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms existing ones in terms of solving speed and scale. It effectively optimizes energy consumption during steel dispatch and reduces the number of truck transfers.

Electrocardiogram (ECG) is the most common and non-invasive auxiliary diagnostic technique for heart disease. However, the ECG signal is susceptible to various noises during the collection process, which will impact subsequent analysis and diagnosis. Therefore, ECG signal denoising has become the primary task after signal acquisition. ECG signal denoising aims to remove noise interference from the collected noisy signals for clarify abnormal waveforms in it, and thus diagnose diseases more accurately. In this paper, to obtain high-quality and high-fidelity denoised ECG signals, we propose a novel diffusion model with self-attention module for ECG signal denoising (DMAM-ECG). Specifically, the DMAM-ECG contains two main branches used to extract features of input noise signal observations and potential variables, respectively. Each branch consists of 6 designed Convolution-Instancenormal-LeakyReLU Filter Blocks (CIL-Filter Blocks). Meanwhile, DMAM-ECG introduces the self-Attention Module Fusion Blocks (SAM-Fusion Blocks) to further extract features for the first branch, and then fuse the output features with the second branch. Besides, we use a multi-shot reconstruction strategy to further improve signal denoising. Quantitative and qualitative results on the QT database show that the proposed DMAM-ECG performs better than the existing 5 state-of-the-art ECG signal denoising methods, especially for strong noise interference ECG signal removal. To sum up, our DMAM-ECG introduces self-attention module into the diffusion model to improve the grasp of global information and achieve high-quality information preservation for extremely noise removal of ECG signal. In particular, it uses only 3-shot reconstruction gets much better denoised results than that of the best baseline with 10-shot. image dehazing is an important research topic and hotspot in the fields of image processing and computer vision. Therefore, evaluating the performance of image dehazing algorithms has become an import research issue. However, current image quality assessment (IQA) algorithms only judge the final dehazed image and do not give an analysis of the capabilities of the image dehazing algorithm. In order to fill this gap, we propose an image dehazing quality assessment method that integrated the dark channel prior with image depth estimation. The proposed method first uses the dark channel prior to estimate the absolute amount of haze removed from each pixel as an indication of the performance of dehazing. Then, a dual-scale variance ratio method is introduced to estimate the scene depth of the image. Finally, the relative dehazing is calculated from the obtained absolute dehazing and the image depth to represent the capability of the dehazing algorithm. The method proposed in this paper first introduces the concepts of relative and absolute dehazing quantities, along with pioneering a pixel-level evaluation of dehazing outcomes. Extensive experiments show that the algorithm proposed in this paper is more in line with human subjective judgment than other IQA algorithms. © 2024, Taiwan Ubiquitous information CO LTD.
