With the rapid development of the manufacturing industry, traditional control systems can no longer meet the requirements of flexibility, efficiency, and intelligence for smart manufacturing. In order to fully utilize technologies such as microservices and enhance the flexibility of smart manufacturing, we propose a microservice-based architecture integrating sensing, communication, computation, and control, dedicated to achieving integrated management and configuration of the production process. In this architecture, each production stage is designed as an independent microservice, capable of being flexibly deployed in various edge controllers. Therefore, a universal edge controller can simultaneously act as a PLC, router, data acquisition device, and edge server, greatly simplifying the complexity of equipment deployment. The microservice-based integrated architecture not only improves the efficiency of data routing but also helps simplify the integration of new sensors and actuators, making adjustments of production lines more convenient, thereby enhancing the scalability and flexibility of the system. We implemented the proposed architecture based on a validation scenario, and the experimental results demonstrate the enormous development potential of this architecture.

Partially annotated images are easy to obtain in multi-label classification. However, unknown labels in partially annotated images exacerbate the positive-negative imbalance inherent in multi-label classification, which affects supervised learning of known labels. Most current methods require sufficient image annotations, and do not focus on the imbalance of the labels in the supervised training phase. In this paper, we propose saliency regularization (SR) for a novel self-training framework. In particular, we model saliency on the class-specific maps, and strengthen the saliency of object regions corresponding to the present labels. Besides, we introduce consistency regularization to mine unlabeled information to complement unknown labels with the help of SR. It is verified to alleviate the negative dominance caused by the imbalance, and achieve state-of-the-art performance on Pascal VOC 2007, MS-COCO, VG-200, and Openimages V3.

Although deep learning of 3D point clouds has made significant progress, the robustness of 3D models has not been fully investigated. Existing 3D attack methods show satisfactory performance under the white-box setting but frequently suffer from a low transferability to attack black-box models. A key point to improve the transferability of attacks is to find the commonalities of multiple models. To this end, a novel attack method is proposed by only leveraging perturbations in local geometric feature areas termed FAP. Specifically, local perturbations are pertinently added by calculating the curvature to sample more points in the feature areas that 3D models potentially focus on. Moreover, to address the drawback of poor isometric robustness common to 3D models, we propose a generalized framework for diversifying input samples by adding random isometric transformations (DIT) in the attack process, which can be combined with other attack methods to improve their transferability. Evaluated on a variety of typical 3D models, the proposed attack method outperforms the current gradient-based methods in transferable black-box attacks, and the effectiveness of the proposed framework is demonstrated by extending it to other attack methods.

Accurate fault diagnosis plays a key role in the safe and efficient operation of electrical motors. Aiming at multiclass motor fault diagnosis under complex working conditions, a signal fusion-based fault diagnosis framework is proposed. Measurement parameters from different sensors are first transformed by wavelet denoising and fast Fourier transform (FFT). Then, multiple parameters spectrum and working condition information are integrated and converted into high-dimension matrices. Finally, a channel-attention-based convolution neural network (CA-CNN) is proposed to extract fault patterns from a reconstructed matrix and output diagnosis results. Experiment results on both simulated and experimental datasets verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Andrew's Sine Estimator (ASE) has recently been used to invent adaptive filtering, which can combat more kind of noises than conventional estimators. Inspired by the LMS and its sparse forms, normalization and proportionate ASE algorithms with Lawson constraints are constructed with the respective given names of Lawson normalization ASE (LNASE) and Lawson proportionate NASE (LPNASE). Simulations are performed to analyze the performance of these algorithms under impulsive noise. © 2022 IEEE.

Despite diffusion models having shown powerful abilities to generate photorealistic images, generating videos that are realistic and diverse still remains in its infancy. One of the key reasons is that current methods intertwine spatial content and temporal dynamics together, leading to a notably increased complexity of text-to-video generation (T2V). In this work, we propose HiGen, a diffusion modelbased method that improves performance by decoupling the spatial and temporal factors of videos from two perspectives, i.e., structure level and content level. At the structure level, we decompose the T2V task into two steps, including spatial reasoning and temporal reasoning, using a unified denoiser. Specifically, we generate spatially coherent priors using text during spatial reasoning and then generate temporally coherent motions from these priors during temporal reasoning. At the content level, we extract two subtle cues from the content of the input video that can express motion and appearance changes, respectively. These two cues then guide the model's training for generating videos, enabling flexible content variations and enhancing temporal stability. Through the decoupled paradigm, HiGen can effectively reduce the complexity of this task and generate realistic videos with semantics accuracy and motion stability. The detection methods of yellow dragon disease spread via wood lice transmission networks like social networks are very important for diverse citrus trees and farmers. Although current methods have some detection accuracy or low cost, the detection processes are relatively troublesome and the detection cycles are long, making it be a difficult problem to apply them in large-scale orange farms as practical scenarios to detect citrus yellow dragon disease in a timely manner. A new method toward detecting citrus yellow dragon disease spread utilizing Spark and deep learning is proposed for this problem. By obtaining citrus field video stream data through high-definition cameras, and transferring the stream data to the Spark cluster through Kafka like intelligent agents, it is practicable to use the structured streaming component under the Spark framework via big data ecosphere to process video or image stream data transmitted via monitoring. We construct a citrus yellow dragon disease detection model via YOLOv7, and use self-made citrus yellow dragon disease images as training and testing data sets. The preliminary experimental results show that the new methods achieved an accuracy of 83.14%. To reduce the occurrence of missed and false detections, the shallow detection heads are added to the feature fusion networks for improvement, extracting and fusing shallow network information to try to improve the detection effects of yellow dragon disease. Then replace the convolution operation in the ELAN (Effective Long-range Aggregation Network) module with deep separable convolution to reduce the number of model parameters. The preliminary experimental results show that compared to the original YOLOv7 model, our improved citrus yellow dragon disease detection model with YOLOv7 has an accuracy improvement of 2.43%, maintaining a higher detection accuracy with lower time than before. © 2024 SPIE.

The detection and recognition of student behavior play a pivotal role in the context of smart classrooms. However, conventional methods often encounter performance degradation due to challenges such as occlusion, data diversity, and complexity. To effectively addresses these issues, we propose a method that integrates YOLOv5 with coordinate attention mechanism and GhostConv for analyzing students' behavior. Specifically, the coordinate attention module enhances the localization ability of the proposed method by addressing problems related to target scale variations and uneven distribution. Additionally, we employ GhostConv to replace conventional convolutional layers in YOLOv5, reducing parameters while improving computational efficiency. To verify the validity of our method, a self-built challenging dataset for real teaching scenarios and Citypersons dataset are selected for the experiment. In comparison to the original YOLOv5, our method has achieved a 14.8% and 5.7% increase in mean average precision rates, with a 19.0% improvement in frames per second. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Canine EEG Helps Human: Cross-Species and Cross-Modality Epileptic Seizure Detection via Multi-Space Alignment

Epilepsy significantly impacts global health, affecting about 65 million people worldwide, along with various animal species. The diagnostic processes of epilepsy are often hindered by the transient and unpredictable nature of seizures. Here we propose a multi-space alignment approach based on cross-species and cross-modality electroencephalogram (EEG) data to enhance the detection capabilities and understanding of epileptic seizures. By employing deep learning techniques, including domain adaptation and knowledge distillation, our framework aligns cross-species and cross-modality EEG signals to enhance the detection capability beyond traditional within-species and within-modality models. Experiments on multiple surfaces and intracranial EEG datasets of humans and canines demonstrated substantial improvements in detection accuracy, achieving over 90% AUC scores for cross-species and cross-modality seizure detection with extremely limited labeled data from the target species/modality. To our knowledge, this is the first study that demonstrates the effectiveness of integrating heterogeneous data from different species and modalities to improve EEG-based seizure detection performance. This is a pilot study that provides insights into the challenges and potential of multi-species and multi-modality data integration, offering an effective solution for future work to collect huge EEG data to train large brain models. © 2024, CC BY.
