Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) has demonstrated potential in addressing robotic local planning problems, yet its efficacy remains constrained in highly unstructured and dynamic environments. To address these challenges, this study proposes the ColorDynamic framework. First, an end-to-end DRL formulation is established, which maps raw sensor data directly to control commands, thereby ensuring compatibility with unstructured environments. Under this formulation, a novel network, Transqer, is introduced. The Transqer enables online DRL learning from temporal transitions, substantially enhancing decision-making in dynamic scenarios. To facilitate scalable training of Transqer with diverse data, an efficient simulation platform E-Sparrow, along with a data augmentation technique leveraging symmetric invariance, are developed. Comparative evaluations against state-of-the-art methods, alongside assessments of generalizability, scalability, and real-time performance, were conducted to validate the effectiveness of ColorDynamic. Results indicate that our approach achieves a success rate exceeding 90% while exhibiting real-time capacity (1.2–1.3 ms per planning). Additionally, ablation studies were performed to corroborate the contributions of individual components. Building on this, the OkayPlan-ColorDynamic (OPCD) navigation system is presented, with simulated and real-world experiments demonstrating its superiority and applicability in complex scenarios. As the deadliest form of pollution, air pollution had a prolonged severe damage to the human health and life safety of nearly 99% of the world's population. Facing to the problem that billions of tons of pollutants discharged into the air per year by industrial activities, this paper proposed a novel image-based air pollution monitor (IAPM) by incorporating local and global information in the self-adaptive multiscale transform domain, so as to achieve the timely and effective leakage detection of typical air pollutants from a single image. To be specific, this paper first developed a screen-shaped module according to two significant findings in visual neuroscience, which include the high sensitivity of human eyes to horizontal and vertical stimuli and the center-surround inhibition, by designing and fusing the square module, horizontal strip module and vertical strip module parallelly for simulating the behaviour of human eyes to extract local features. Second, the learnable weights and proportional mapping were applied to incorporate the screen-shaped module and lightweight vision transformer as backbone, towards more richly exploiting and fusing local and global information just as the way a brain perceives external stimuli. Third, a new self-adaptive multiscale transform domain method was devised based on two motivations from the visual characteristics of multiscale perception and the brain characteristics of self-adaptive domain transform to modify the backbone by using the operations of pooling and pointwise convolution. Extensive experiments implemented on the datasets of carbon particulate matters and ethylene leakage confirmed the superior monitoring performance of the proposed IAPM model beyond the state-of-the-art (SOTA) peers by an accuracy gain of about 4%. Furthermore, the proposed IAPM model only required 0.089 GFLOPs and 0.15 million model parameters, remarkably outperforming SOTA competitors in computational efficiency and storage resources. © 1999-2

It is necessary to regularly detect faults to maintain the safety and stability of power lines. Insulators are one of the important electrical components in high-voltage transmission lines. It is extremely necessary to check the working status of insulators regularly. Traditional manual inspection is inefficient because it requires a significant amount of labor costs. In this paper, a method for detecting insulators' missing defect based on aerial images is proposed to address the issue by unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Firstly, the improved Faster R-CNN (region-based convolutional neural network) is used to identify and locate insulators in aerial images. Secondly, the U-Net image segmentation network segments insulators from the images. The adaptive threshold segmentation method completely separates the insulator from the background. Then the binary image of the insulator is obtained. Finally, the binary image is converted into a fault curve which is used for determining the missing insulators based on the distribution of the fault curve. By using collected insulator datasets on a 330kV overhead transmission line using a DJI M300 UAV platform and an onboard H20T camera/sensor, the detection accuracy of glass insulators is as high as 0.98 with the proposed algorithm. The positioning accuracy of the proposed algorithm is also higher than other algorithms. This method has high detection accuracy for missing defects in insulators. The experimental results show that compared with similar algorithms, this method has higher accuracy and efficiency.

Modeling cellular dynamics from single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data is critical for understanding cell development and underlying gene regulatory relationships. Many current methods rely on single-cell velocity to obtain pseudotime, which can lead to inconsistencies between pseudotime and velocity. It is challenging to simultaneously infer cell pseudotime and gene interaction networks, especially in multi-branch differentiation scenarios. We present single-cell Piecewise Network (scPN), a novel high-dimensional dynamical modeling approach that iteratively extracts temporal patterns and inter-gene relationships from scRNA-seq data. To tackle multi-branch differentiation challenges, scPN models gene regulatory dynamics using piecewise gene-gene interaction networks, offering an interpretable framework for deciphering complex gene regulation patterns over time. Results on synthetic data and multiple scRNA-seq datasets demonstrate the superior performance of scPN in reconstructing cellular dynamics and identifying key transcription factors involved in development compared to existing methods. To the best of our knowledge, scPN is the first attempt at modeling that can recover pseudotime, velocity fields, and gene interactions all at once on multi-branch datasets. Constrained multiobjective optimization problems (CMOPs) are prevalent in various real-world applications, presenting a formidable challenge to existing evolutionary algorithms when faced with intricate constraints. When solving CMOPs, a crucial concern is achieving a balance between convergence, diversity, and feasibility. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a two-archive-based constrained multiobjective competitive swarm optimizer. The algorithm preserves two collaborative and complementary archives to improve population convergence and feasibility. By implementing a competitive particle swarm mechanism, offspring solutions are generated by drawing upon solutions from both archives, thus capitalizing on their synergistic effect and exceptional information. An adaptive parameter is also used to adjust the bias in choosing the winner in the paired competition during the evolution. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in handling constrained multiobjective optimization problems.

Few-shot learning poses a critical challenge due to the deviation problem caused by the scarcity of available samples. In this work, we aim to address deviations in both feature representations and prototypes. To achieve this, we propose a cross-modal de-deviation framework that leverages class semantic information to provide robust prior knowledge for the samples. This framework begins with a visual-to-semantic autoencoder trained on the labeled samples to predict semantic features for the unlabeled samples. Then, we devise a binary linear programming model to incorporate the initial prototypes with the cluster centers of the unlabeled samples. To avoid mismatch between the cluster centers and the initial prototypes, we conduct the label assignment process in the semantic space using the class ground truth semantic features as the reference points, with the cluster centers transformed into semantic representations. Moreover, we model a linear classifier with the concatenation of the refined prototypes and the class ground truth semantic features serving as the initial weights. Then we propose a novel optimization strategy based on the alternating least squares (ALS) model. From the ALS model, we can derive two closed-form solutions regarding to the features and weights, facilitating alternative optimization of them. Extensive experiments conducted on three standard benchmarks demonstrate the competitive advantages of our CMDD method over the state-of-the-art few-shot classification methods, confirming its effectiveness in reducing deviation. © 2023, The Authors. This paper explores distributed neighbor selection in matrix-weighted networks, where a matrix-valued weight captures the interdependencies among agents’ states. We demonstrate the feasibility of preserving and, in certain cases, improving the convergence rate of matrix-weighted networks by having agents exclusively engage with a subset of their neighbors. Leveraging the inherent monotonicity of Laplacian matrix eigenvectors, we introduce a novel neighbor selection criterion that reduces network connections while enhancing convergence rates. Existing neighbor selection strategies often require acquiring information from all nodes before making decisions. In order to propose a distributed neighbor selection strategy for matrix-weighted networks, we establish a numerical relationship between Laplacian eigenvectors and a locally measurable metric. In essence, this paper extends prior findings from scalar-weighted networks to matrix-weighted networks.

GraphMFT: A graph network based multimodal fusion technique for emotion recognition in conversation

Multimodal machine learning is an emerging area of research, which has received a great deal of scholarly attention in recent years. Up to now, there are few studies on multimodal Emotion Recognition in Conversation (ERC). Since Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) possess the powerful capacity of relational modeling, they have an inherent advantage in the field of multimodal learning. GNNs leverage the graph constructed from multimodal data to perform intra- and inter-modal information interaction, which effectively facilitates the integration and complementation of multimodal data. In this work, we propose a novel Graph network based Multimodal Fusion Technique (GraphMFT) for emotion recognition in conversation. Multimodal data can be modeled as a graph, where each data object is regarded as a node, and both intra- and inter-modal dependencies existing between data objects can be regarded as edges. GraphMFT utilizes multiple improved graph attention networks to capture intra-modal contextual information and inter-modal complementary information. In addition, the proposed GraphMFT attempts to address the challenges of existing graph-based multimodal conversational emotion recognition models such as MMGCN. Empirical results on two public multimodal datasets reveal that our model outperforms the State-Of-The-Art (SOTA) approaches with the accuracy of 67.90% and 61.30%. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. Semi-supervised domain adaptation (SSDA) aims at training a high-performance model for a target domain using few labeled target data, many unlabeled target data, and plenty of auxiliary data from a source domain. Previous works in SSDA mainly focused on learning transferable representations across domains. However, it is difficult to find a feature space where the source and target domains share the same conditional probability distribution. Additionally, there is no flexible and effective strategy extending existing unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA) approaches to SSDA settings. In order to solve the above two challenges, we propose a novel fine-tuning framework, semi-supervised transfer boosting (SS-TrBoosting). Given a well-trained deep learning-based UDA or SSDA model, we use it as the initial model, generate additional base learners by boosting, and then use all of them as an ensemble. More specifically, half of the base learners are generated by supervised domain adaptation, and half by semi-supervised learning. Furthermore, for more efficient data transmission and better data privacy protection, we propose a source data generation approach to extend SS-TrBoosting to semi-supervised source-free domain adaptation (SS-SFDA). Extensive experiments showed that SS-TrBoosting can be applied to a variety of existing UDA, SSDA and SFDA approaches to further improve their performance. © 2024, CC BY.
