Learning-based multi-view stereo (MVS) methods deal with predicting accurate depth maps to achieve an accurate and complete 3D representation. Despite the excellent performance, existing methods ignore the fact that a suitable depth geometry is also critical in MVS. In this paper, we demonstrate that different depth geometries have significant performance gaps, even using the same depth prediction error. Therefore, we introduce an ideal depth geometry composed of Saddle-Shaped Cells, whose predicted depth map oscillates upward and downward around the ground-truth surface, rather than maintaining a continuous and smooth depth plane. To achieve it, we develop a coarse-to-fine framework called Dual-MVSNet (DMVSNet), which can produce an oscillating depth plane. Technically, we predict two depth values for each pixel (Dual-Depth), and propose a novel loss function and a checkerboard-shaped selecting strategy to constrain the predicted depth geometry. Compared to existing methods, DMVSNet achieves a high rank on the DTU benchmark and obtains the top performance on challenging scenes of Tanks and Temples, demonstrating its strong performance and generalization ability. Our method also points to a new research direction for considering depth geometry in MVS.

The brain is the most sophisticated and complex organ in the human body. Nowadays, diagnosing complex and diverse brain diseases is a hot topic. Alzheimer's Disease (AD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and others are common brain diseases. With the increased usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medical image analysis, the endeavor to make AI comprehend brain images for assisting doctors in making objective diagnoses of brain diseases has gained considerable attention. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) is a widely used tool for diagnosing and analyzing brain ***, the Pearson correlation coefficient (PCC) method constructs a dynamic functional connectivity (dFC) network using a fixed window size. However, this method has limitations as it is challenging to extract potential high-level features from the dFC and determine local feature relevance. This paper presents a method for constructing dFC based on multi-scale sliding windows and proposes Multi-scale Convolutional Neural Networks (MsCNN) for learning and analyzing dFC at various scales. Finally, a deep fusion of features learned at different scales is employed for the diagnostic classification of brain *** to the rs-fMRI dataset from ADNI, the classification accuracy was 84.0% for eMCI/lMCI, 84.4% for lMCI/AD, and 58.4% for NC/eMCI/lMCI/AD. Applied to rs-fMRI data from ABIDE, the accuracy was 74.7% for ASD/NC. The proposed method exhibits robust classification performance and introduces a new approach to diagnosing other brain diseases.

An adaptive optimal control strategy for solid oxide fuel cell power generation systems (SOFCs) is proposed in this paper. A new estimator is proposed in a simple form to solve the modeling uncertainty, and express the control of SOFCs as an optimal control problem. Then, a new system thermoelectric parameter tracking control strategy is proposed. The strategy uses data-driven to build the recursive neural network model of the system thermoelectric parameters. In order to ensure convergence, an adaptive law based on parameter estimation error is proposed to update the weights of neural networks online. The simulation results show that the data-driven model can effectively identify the power generation process of solid oxide fuel cell system. At the same time, the control method can realize the optimal tracking control of power, voltage, stack temperature and afterburner temperature with limited input.

The uncertainty of wireless communication seriously affects the control performance of the platoon. In this paper, a model predictive control (MPC) method based on dynamic event-triggering is proposed to address the impact of non-ideal communications on multi-vehicle systems. Firstly, a hierarchical platoon architecture combining backbone layer and sub-platoon layers is proposed to achieve efficient coordination among multiple platoons, and a communication-aware control mechanism is designed for each vehicle to effectively mitigate the adverse effects of non-ideal communication scenarios. Secondly, a dynamic event-triggering mechanism is established for each vehicle, which is related to time-varying delay and random packet loss parameters, so as to effectively reduce the frequency of MPC solutions and data transmission. Additionally, based on different communication topologies, distributed model predictive controllers are suggested for backbone layer and sub-platoon layer to achieve precise and comfortable tracking. Then, sufficient conditions are provided to ensure the recursive feasibility of the MPC algorithm and the stability of the platoon system. Finally, extensive simulations are conducted, and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm in terms of control performance and low computational complexity under non-ideal communication conditions. © 2014 IEEE.

In the actual production of slot die coating,the minimum coating thickness and the maximum substrate moving speed could only be judged by production experience,and there was no accurate prediction model due to the nonlinear characteristics of fluid ***,building a reasonable and efficient prediction model for slot die coating is now an urgent and challenging *** this paper,an optimized extreme learning machine(ELM) based on improved beetle antennae search(IBAS) algorithm is proposed for slot die coating *** optimized ELM model can well learn the nonlinear characteristics of the system and make accurate predictions,thus solving the traditional inaccurate empirical *** the prediction accuracy of ELM depends on the selection of weights and biases,the IBAS optimization algorithm is used to quickly search for the optimal value of weights and biases in the ELM *** algorithm improves the generation mechanism of antennae on the basis of the original algorithm,so that the algorithm can converge *** the same time,the search strategy of the algorithm is improved to avoid falling into the local optimal *** predicting the production data of slit coating,the feasibility and effectiveness of IBAS-ELM model are proved.

Video stabilization refers to the problem of transforming a shaky video into a visually pleasing one. The question of how to strike a good trade-off between visual quality and computational speed has remained one of the open challenges in video stabilization. Inspired by the analogy between wobbly frames and jigsaw puzzles, we propose an iterative optimization-based learning approach using synthetic datasets for video stabilization, which consists of two interacting submodules: motion trajectory smoothing and full-frame outpainting. First, we develop a two-level (coarse-to-fine) stabilizing algorithm based on the probabilistic flow field. The confidence map associated with the estimated optical flow is exploited to guide the search for shared regions through backpropagation. Second, we take a divide-and-conquer approach and propose a novel multi-frame fusion strategy to render full-frame stabilized views. An important new insight brought about by our iterative optimization approach is that the target video can be interpreted as the fixed point of nonlinear mapping for video stabilization. We formulate video stabilization as a problem of minimizing the amount of jerkiness in motion trajectories, which guarantees convergence with the help of fixed-point theory. Extensive experimental results are reported to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed approach in terms of computational speed and visual quality. The code will be available on GitHub.

This paper studies the tracking problem of a target with the partially unknown motion model by an active agent with bearing-only measurements using Gaussian process learning. To address this problem, a learning-planning-control framework is proposed. First, to learn and predict the target motion under mild assumptions, a Gaussian-process-based scheme is proposed, and a probabilistic uniform prediction error bound can be rigorously proved. Second, by analyzing the data dependence of the posterior covariance, we obtain an optimal relative trajectory to achieve efficient sampling. Third, to realize efficient learning, a controller to track the planned path is proposed based on the learned target motion, which can provide guaranteed tracking performance. Theoretical analysis is conducted to prove the the given probabilistic error bounds. Numerical examples and comparison with other typical methods verify the feasibility and superior performance of our proposed framework. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Quality assessment of electrocardiogram (ECG) signals holds significant importance in reducing the high-frequency false alarms in automated arrhythmia diagnosis. Existing quality assessment methods primarily rely on empirical threshold setting or the calculation of relevant statistical values to formulate decision rules. However, the thresholds set in this manner are typically based on experience and knowledge, resulting in decision rules that lack flexibility and struggle to adapt to changes in the dataset. To address this issue, many researchers have turned to deep learning algorithms for ECG signal quality assessment. Nevertheless, most existing deep learning methods usually require large-scale and labeled ECG data for training, whose acquiring is typically challenging. Therefore, this paper proposes an efficient method for ECG signal quality assessment. First, we use a contrast learning framework to construct sample pairs through multilevel data augmentation. Second, a densely connected convolutional network (DenseNet) is used to improve the model's ability of extracting local features in ECG signals, and a Squeeze-and-Excitation attention module is introduced to make the model pay more attention to critical features. Finally, the feature representation is learned by minimizing the contextual contrast loss to bring similar samples closer and push dissimilar samples farther away. In this way, we can utilize the contrastive learning framework to extract temporal representations from unlabeled data and transfer them to downstream ECG signal quality assessment tasks. Extensive experiments on the Physionet/CinC Challenge 2011 dataset demonstrate that our approach outperforms most existing quality assessment methods. © 2023 IEEE.

This article addresses the finite-time boundedness(FTB)problem for nonlinear descriptor ***,the nonlinear descriptor system is represented by the Takagi-Sugeno(T-S)model,where fuzzy representation is assumed to be appearing not only in both the state and input matrices but also in the derivative *** using a descriptor redundancy approach,the fuzzy representation in the derivative matrix is reformulated into a linear ***,we introduce a fuzzy sliding mode control(FSMC)law,which ensures the finite-time boundedness(FTB)of closed-loop fuzzy control systems over the reaching phase and sliding motion ***,by further employing the descriptor redundancy representation,the sufficient condition for designing FSMC law,which ensures the FTB of the closed-loop control systems over the entire finite-time interval,is derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs).Finally,a simulation study with control of a photovoltaic(PV)nonlinear system is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A TDOA/AOA Hybrid Positioning Based on Improved Sparrow Search Algorithm for Mobile Position Estimation

To address the difficulty in calculating the nonlinear equation of time difference of arrival (TDOA) positioning, as well as the problem of measurement error in the hybrid time difference of arrival/angle of arrival (TDOA/AOA) positioning algorithm, an improved sparrow search algorithm is proposed to optimize positioning, and the optimization mechanism is retained on the basis of improving the performance of the original algorithm. The maximum likelihood estimation method is used to calculate the objective function, and then, the estimated function of the mobile station is used as the fitness function to generate the initial population of sparrows. Then, using particle swarm optimization, optimize the sparrow search algorithm and obtain the population's optimal solution in order to obtain the optimal position. The simulation results show that, when compared to the existing algorithm, increasing the number of base stations increases the average accuracy of the sparrow search algorithm (SSA) positioning method by 18.54% and 4.5%, respectively, and, when compared to the proposed particle swarm optimization (PSO) positioning method, by 13.79% and 11.6% as the radius increases. The SSA hybrid positioning algorithm performs better in terms of positioning accuracy, convergence speed, and robustness. © 2023 Zhongyi Hu et al.
