Syndrome classification is an important step in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for diagnosis and treatment. In this paper, we propose a multi-graph attention network (MGAT) based method to simulate TCM doctors to infer the syndromes. Specifically, the complex relationships between symptoms and state elements are aggregated using graph attention networks (GAT) and syndromes are classified by a multilayer perceptron (MLP). To verify the effectiveness of the model, extensive experiments are conducted on the Treatise on Febrile Diseases dataset. The experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms several typical methods in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score. The MGAT model has high accuracy in syndrome classification and has practical application value. © 2022 IEEE.

LU2Net: A Lightweight Network for Real-time Underwater image Enhancement

Computer vision techniques have empowered underwater robots to effectively undertake a multitude of tasks, including object tracking and path planning. However, underwater optical factors like light refraction and absorption present challenges to underwater vision, which cause degradation of underwater images. A variety of underwater image enhancement methods have been proposed to improve the effectiveness of underwater vision perception. Nevertheless, for real-time vision tasks on underwater robots, it is necessary to overcome the challenges associated with algorithmic efficiency and real-time capabilities. In this paper, we introduce Lightweight Underwater Unet (LU2Net), a novel U-shape network designed specifically for real-time enhancement of underwater images. The proposed model incorporates axial depthwise convolution and the channel attention module, enabling it to significantly reduce computational demands and model parameters, thereby improving processing speed. The extensive experiments conducted on the dataset and real-world underwater robots demonstrate the exceptional performance and speed of proposed model. It is capable of providing well-enhanced underwater images at a speed 8 times faster than the current state-of-the-art underwater image enhancement method. Unifying Gradients to Improve Real-World Robustness for Deep Networks

The wide application of deep neural networks (DNNs) demands an increasing amount of attention to their real-world robustness, i.e., whether a DNN resists black-box adversarial attacks, among which score-based query attacks (SQAs) are most threatening since they can effectively hurt a victim network with the only access to model outputs. Defending against SQAs requires a slight but artful variation of outputs due to the service purpose for users, who share the same output information with SQAs. In this paper, we propose a real-world defense by Unifying Gradients (UniG) of different data so that SQAs could only probe a much weaker attack direction that is similar for different samples. Since such universal attack perturbations have been validated as less aggressive than the input-specific perturbations, UniG protects real-world DNNs by indicating attackers a twisted and less informative attack direction. We implement UniG efficiently by a Hadamard product module which is plug-and-play. According to extensive experiments on 5 SQAs, 2 adaptive attacks and 7 defense baselines, UniG significantly improves real-world robustness without hurting clean accuracy on CIFAR10 and imageNet. For instance, UniG maintains a model of 77.80% accuracy under 2500-query Square attack while the state-of-the-art adversarially-trained model only has 67.34% on CIFAR10. Simultaneously, UniG outperforms all compared baselines in terms of clean accuracy and achieves the smallest modification of the model output. Gaussian Splatting (GS) has emerged as a crucial technique for representing discrete volumetric radiance fields. It leverages unique parametrization to mitigate computational demands in scene optimization. This work introduces Topology-Aware 3D Gaussian Splatting (Topology-GS), which addresses two key limitations in current approaches: compromised pixel-level structural integrity due to incomplete initial geometric coverage, and inadequate feature-level integrity from insufficient topological constraints during optimization. To overcome these limitations, Topology-GS incorporates a novel interpolation strategy, Local Persistent Voronoi Interpolation (LPVI), and a topology-focused regularization term based on persistent barcodes, named PersLoss. LPVI utilizes persistent homology to guide adaptive interpolation, enhancing point coverage in low-curvature areas while preserving topological structure. PersLoss aligns the visual perceptual similarity of rendered images with ground truth by constraining distances between their topological features. Comprehensive experiments on three novel-view synthesis benchmarks demonstrate that Topology-GS outperforms existing methods in terms of PSNR, SSIM, and LPIPS metrics, while maintaining efficient memory usage. Multiple types of sensors are utilized for remote monitoring of single industrial process to compensate for the limited accuracy of a single type of sensor. Network slicing technology is considered promising for collecting data from heterogeneous sensors and meeting diverse Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. However, existing research on network slicing optimization mainly focuses on inter-slice resource constraints based on slice heterogeneity, neglecting slice coupling feature. In this regard, this paper proposes a novel network slicing framework for edge-assisted industrial IoT systems. The framework includes a slice coupling model and network resource allocation (transmission and computing) to address the problem of improving estimation performance while ensuring system convergence. The slice coupling model is primarily composed of the estimation error covariance of two slices, calculated using the Age of Task (AoT) as a bridge, which reflects the accuracy and freshness of the estimation. To reduce the complexity of the direct solution, the optimization problem is scaled down and decoupled. The iterative Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is proposed to determine the allocation rates of inter-slice transmission and computing resources. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves a flexible balance under heterogeneous estimation weights and exhibits near-optimal performance.

Temporally-Adaptive Models for Efficient Video Understanding

Spatial convolutions are extensively used in numerous deep video models. It fundamentally assumes spatio-temporal invariance, i.e., using shared weights for every location in different frames. This work presents Temporally-Adaptive Convolutions (TAdaConv) for video understanding, which shows that adaptive weight calibration along the temporal dimension is an efficient way to facilitate modeling complex temporal dynamics in videos. Specifically, TAdaConv empowers spatial convolutions with temporal modeling abilities by calibrating the convolution weights for each frame according to its local and global temporal context. Compared to existing operations for temporal modeling, TAdaConv is more efficient as it operates over the convolution kernels instead of the features, whose dimension is an order of magnitude smaller than the spatial resolutions. Further, kernel calibration brings an increased model capacity. Based on this readily plug-in operation TAdaConv as well as its extension, i.e., TAdaConvV2, we construct TAdaBlocks to empower ConvNeXt and Vision Transformer to have strong temporal modeling capabilities. Empirical results show TAdaConvNeXtV2 and TAdaFormer perform competitively against state-of-the-art convolutional and Transformer-based models in various video understanding benchmarks. In this article, an adaptive event-triggered asymp¬totically fault-tolerant control (FTC) issue for nonlinear systems with actuator faults is investigated. An extended neural networks (NNs) technique is introduced to estimate unknown functions of the system under consideration. Compared with traditional NNs that ignore approximation errors, the proposed extended NNs further processes approximation errors, reducing the conservatism of the proposed algorithm. Then, within the framework of backstepping method, a new adaptive control strategy is developed by combining event-triggered mechanism (ETM) and bound estimation (BE) approach, which ensures the asymptotic convergence of system states while also reducing the transmission of unnecessary information, thus improving the utilization of communication resources. At the same time, the designed controller eliminates the adverse effects of actuator failures and system nonlinear terms. Finally, a simulation example of a single-link robot system is provided to demonstrate that the developed control strategy can ensure that all signals are bounded and system states are asymptotically convergent.

The Industrial Internet of Things (1IoT) gradually becomes a new paradigm for information exchange in the industrial production environment. To ensure the high reliability of IloT services, an efficient resource allocation method with good robustness is urgently needed under complex industrial environments. This paper considers the distributed constraint- coupled resource allocation problem with noisy information exchange over an undirected network, where each agent holds a private cost function and obtains the solution via only local communications. Communication noise poses a challenge to gradient-tracking based algorithm as the impact of noise will accumulate and its variance tends to infinity when the noise is persistent. Adopting noise-tracing scheme, we propose an exact noise-robust distributed gradient-tracking algorithm to achieve cost-optimal distribution of resources, which can avoid noise-accumulation in the tracking step. Moreover, noise suppression parameters are introduced to further attenuate the impact of noise. With diminishing suppression parameters, it is theoretically proved that the proposed algorithm is able to achieve exact convergence to the optimal solution. Finally, a numerical example is provided for verification.

It is well known that people who know the presence of network viruses will defend against them, and the more computer viruses are detected and the more measures are taken. However, most previous computer virus propagation models have completely ignored the saturation effect. This paper investigates how the saturation effect impacts the transmission of electronic virus. For this purpose, a new transmission model of network virus is proposed, in which the virus is not very prevalent. Under certain conditions, there is a global asymptotical stable equilibrium point with no virus in this model. Finally, we give several numerical examples to exhibit that sufficient saturation effect is greatly conducive to containing network viruses.

The classification and counting of white blood cells (WBCs, leukocytes) in blood smears are of great significance for clinicopathological diagnosis. Therefore, the classification of WBCs in the images is a basic task. Most of the existing WBCs classification methods are based on supervised learning, which highly depends on a large number of image labels. To cope with the challenge of image annotation, in this paper, we propose an unsupervised WBCs classification method, which combines the advantages of contrastive learning and a deep clustering algorithm. Specifically, the proposed method firstly employs contrastive learning to pre-train the feature encoder, which is able to improve the similarity of feature coding among the same kind of cell categories. Then, the classical clustering algorithm is used based on the pre-trained image features for unsupervised classification of WBCs. Finally, the high confidence clustering results are fed back to the pre-trained feature encoder, which can be used as the pseudo labels to form a closed loop. Experimental results on a dataset containing 574 leukocyte images demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
