Fire is a serious disaster that endangers life and property worldwide. Accurate and prompt fire detection can provide early warning information for firefighting efforts. Deep learning-based object detection algorithms have proven to be useful in the field of fire detection. However, fire detection is a particularly challenging task, due to the low-resolution of fire images and the presence of blurring and deformation in the targets. Existing fire detection methods are limited by poor detection accuracy and slow speed in complex fire scenarios. To address these challenges, we propose a fire detection algorithm based on improved YOLOv5s. Firstly, the attention module is embedded into the network structure. We introduce this attention module into the last layer of the backbone to enhance feature extraction ability. Secondly, we modify the Neck structure to fully fuse different feature maps. Through fusing extra low-level features from the backbone, it utilizes various receptive fields to enhance the expression of feature. Thirdly, SIoU is introduced to achieve faster convergence during the training. SIoU take into account the direction of the mismatch to redefine penalty indicators. The experimental results show that our proposed algorithm outperforms commonly used models. Even compared to specific fire detectors, our model exhibits certain advantages.

This paper addresses the problem of sliding-mode control for large-scale fuzzy descriptor systems subject to unknown uncertainties. First, a CMAC neural network is used to approximate the unknown uncertainties, and the CMAC-based sliding-mode controller is proposed. Then, a compensation technique is employed to eliminate the influence on the approximation error stemmed from CMAC model. We use the gradient-descent method to online tune the parameters of CMAC and the Lyapunov function is introduced to ensure the stability of the closed-loop control system and the CMAC's convergence. Finally, the effectiveness and correctness of the obtained theories are verified by the tracking control of multi-autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs).

An electroencephalogram(EEG)-based brain–computer interface(BCI) speller allows a user to input text to a computer by thought. It is particularly useful to severely disabled individuals, e.g. amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients, who have no other effective means of communication with another person or a *** studies so far focused on making EEG-based BCI spellers faster and more reliable; however, few have considered their security. This study, for the first time, shows that P300 and steady-state visual evoked potential BCI spellers are very vulnerable, i.e. they can be severely attacked by adversarial perturbations,which are too tiny to be noticed when added to EEG signals, but can mislead the spellers to spell anything the attacker wants. The consequence could range from merely user frustration to severe misdiagnosis in clinical applications. We hope our research can attract more attention to the security of EEG-based BCI spellers, and more broadly, EEG-based BCIs, which has received little attention before.

In order to enpower the hight performance as well as interpretability of low-order TSK fuzzy classifier, a born-again TSK fuzzy classier embedded with decoupled fuzzy dark knowledge distillation called HTSK-LLM-DKD is proposed in this study. HTSK-LLM DKD achieves the following distinctive characteristics: 1) It takes high-order TSK as teacher model and low-order TSK fuzzy classifier as student model, and leverages the proposed Least Learning Machine based Decoupling Knowledge Distillation to distill the fuzzy dark knowledge from high-order TSK fuzzy classifier to low-order TSK fuzzy classifier, which resulting in low-order TSK fuzzy classifier endowed with enhanced performance surpassing or at least comparable to high-order TSK fuzzy classifier;specifically 2) The Negative Euclidean distance between the output of teacher model and each class is employed to obtain the teacher logits, and then it computes teacher/student soft labels by the softmax function with distilling temperature parameter;3) By reformulating the Kullback Leibler divergence, it decouples fuzzy dark knowledge into target class knowledge and non-target class knowledge, and transfers them to student model, which taking HTSK-LLM-DKD with outstanding performance and relatively fast running speed. Extensive experiment results on UCI benchmarking datasets and real-world dataset Cleveland Heart Disease demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed HTSK-LLM-DKD. © 2024, The Authors. Meticulous 3D environment representations have been a longstanding goal in computer vision and robotics fields. The recent emergence of neural implicit representations has introduced radical innovation to this field as implicit representations enable numerous capabilities. Among these, the Neural Radiance Field (NeRF) has sparked a trend because of the huge representational advantages, such as simplified mathematical models, compact environment storage, and continuous scene representations. Apart from computer vision, NeRF has also shown tremendous potential in the field of robotics. Thus, we create this survey to provide a comprehensive understanding of NeRF in the field of robotics. By exploring the advantages and limitations of NeRF, as well as its current applications and future potential, we hope to shed light on this promising area of research. Our survey is divided into two main sections: The Application of NeRF in Robotics and The Advance of NeRF in Robotics, from the perspective of how NeRF enters the field of robotics. In the first section, we introduce and analyze some works that have been or could be used in the field of robotics from the perception and interaction perspectives. In the second section, we show some works related to improving NeRF's own properties, which are essential for deploying NeRF in the field of robotics. In the discussion section of the review, we summarize the existing challenges and provide some valuable future research directions for reference. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

Versatile Video Coding (VVC) now supports Screen Content Coding (SCC) by integrating two efficient coding modes: Intra Block Copy (IBC) and Palette (PLT). However, the numerous modes and the Quad-Tree Plus Multi-Type Tree (QTMT) structure inherent to VVC contribute to a very high coding complexity. To effectively reduce the computational complexity of VVC SCC, we propose a fast Intra mode prediction algorithm for VVC SCC. More specifically, we first use the difference of minimum Sum of Absolute Transformed Differences (SATD) value of four Directional Modes (DMs) of Intra and the SATD value of the IBC-merge mode to determine whether to early skip Intra checking. Subsequently, we use a decision tree to determine whether to early terminate the checking after block differential pulse coded modulation (BDPCM). Finally, we employ a decision tree to determine whether to early skip multiple transform selection (MTS) and low frequency non-separable transform (LFNST) checking. The results demonstrate that our algorithm achieves an average encoding time reduction of 34.34% with a negligible Bjøntegaard delta bitrate increase of 0.46%.

In recent years, significant advancements have been made in the field of anomaly detection. Expanding anomaly detection tasks to new scenarios has become a development avenue. Anomaly detection for the outer packaging of supermarket goods is a challenging task due to the diversity of goods’ appearances, which results in some detection methods suffering from limited sensitivity to anomalies and inadequate target mining. To address these issues, we propose a novel unsupervised anomaly detection method based on multi-branch feature extraction and foreground cosine structure mining strategy. Firstly, we use anomaly synthesis technique to enhance the model’s perception of anomalies and construct more precise decision boundaries in the feature space. Secondly, a multi-branch feature extractor extracts and integrates multi-level and multi-scale features, providing rich texture and semantic information to improve the model’s adaptability in real-world scenarios. Finally, the foreground cosine loss focuses on target mining while supplementing local structural information, further enhancing the model’s ability to detect subtle anomalies. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, extensive experiments were conducted on the GoodsAD dataset, sampled from supermarket scenarios. Experimental results show that this method achieves significant performance in image-level detection and pixel-level localization.

Surface defect detection is a fundamental step of quality management. Nowadays, surface defect detection system based on machine vision technology has made great progress which can gradually replace the human inspector. With the help of convolutional neural networks, the accuracy and stability of the surface defect detection algorithm are improving rapidly. However, it is difficult to process the images which have small defect areas and complex backgrounds. Furthermore, lacking defective samples and limited computation resources are also tough problems. To deal with these problems, a two-stage algorithm combined with object detection and classification networks is proposed. Transform learning and data augmentation are used to deal with the problem of lacking defect samples. Besides, a detection system based on collaborative cloud-edge computation is designed to improve the performance of the algorithm. The result shows that the proposed method has high performance and low requirements of computation resources. © 2021 IEEE.

Inferring Topology of Networked Dynamical Systems by Active Excitations

Topology inference for networked dynamical systems (NDSs) has received considerable attention in recent years. The majority of pioneering works have dealt with inferring the topology from abundant observations of NDSs, so as to approximate the real one asymptotically. Leveraging the characteristic that NDSs will react to various disturbances and the disturbance’s influence will consistently spread, this paper focuses on inferring the topology by a few active excitations. The key challenge is to distinguish different influences of system noises and excitations from the exhibited state deviations, where the influences will decay with time and the exciatation cannot be arbitrarily large. To practice, we propose a one-shot excitation based inference method to infer h-hop neighbors of a node. The excitation conditions for accurate one-hop neighbor inference are first derived with probability guarantees. Then, we extend the results to h-hop neighbor inference and multiple excitations cases, providing the explicit relationships between the inference accuracy and excitation magnitude. Specifically, the excitation based inference method is not only suitable for scenarios where abundant observations are unavailable, but also can be leveraged as auxiliary means to improve the accuracy of existing methods.
