Action recognition is an important topic in computer vision and most current work focuses on view-dependent representations. In this paper, we develop a novel free viewpoint action recognition based on Self-similarity matrix (SSM), which tends to be stable across views. We choose Local Self-similarity (LSS) descriptor as our low-level feature, then SSM is calculated by computing the similarity between any pair of frame features. Each video sequence is represented using a diagonal descriptor vector extracted from the SSM. Support Vector Machines (SVM) is employed for classification. The encouraging experimental results on the public IXMAS multi-view data set demonstrate effectiveness of the proposed method.

Parts-probability-based vehicle detection

Detecting vehicles is important in aerial surveillance. Traditional methods used classifiers to detect vehicles, but a single classifier was limited to detecting vehicles of only one intensity and orientation. Therefore,the task required the use of multiple classifiers of different intensities and orientations. To solve this problem, we first used a latent Dirichlet allocation(LDA) model that improved the previous approaches to vehicle *** text modeling approaches have been generative. They could be used to build probability models of vehicles in different intensities and from various orientations simultaneously using unlabeled data. Using a probability model, we can detect vehicles in a region with high probability. Next, we used a parts-probability model that improves the LDA model. The model effectively encodes spatial structure among visual words by adding spatial relationships among vehicle parts as priors of words. A parts probability model represents a vehicle hierarchically according to parts appearances and a vehicle’s features within the parts to enforce spatial coherency. Then, we used our model to detect vehicles from a collection of images and demonstrate its performs more effectively.

Advances in non-invasive neuroimaging, such as structural magnetic resonance imaging (sMRI), have en abled the construction of structural brain networks (SBNs), allowing in vivo mapping of anatomical connec tions. This study investigates brain network structural differences linked to different intelligence levels in children by individual morphometric similarity networks (MSNs) derived from sMRI data. Through group and individual-level analyses, we aim to uncover key topological features associated with cognitive perfor mance and to identify a suitable connection density for SBN analysis. Connection density strongly affects global and nodal topological features, with a range of p = 0.05 to 0.15 recommended for stable and optimal results. Gifted individuals exhibit stronger intra-hemispheric and intra-modular connectivity, a more balanced distribution of left-to-right intra-hemispheric connections, and lower mean versatility, supporting efficient and stable cognitive processing. Moreover, anatomical modularity analyses based on von Economo indicate that higher cognitive performance is linked to enhanced connectivity in specific areas (such as secondary sensory area, motor to association area and secondary sensory to limbic area), alongside selective reduction in cer tain modular connections (such as motor to insular area, association to secondary sensory area and motor to secondary sensory area). Furthermore, topological features, including participation coefficient and local effi ciency, are linked to cognitive performance. These findings provide valuable insights into the SBNs underlying cognitive levels in children. © 2025 by SCITEPRESS– Science and Technology Publications, Lda.

The role of trifocal tensor in three views is similar to basic matrix in two views. It includes projective geometric relations among the three views which do not depend on the structure of the scenery. According to the traditional trifocal tensor calculation. The algorithm precision relies on initial value selection and lacks robustness. The calculation is very complex but the results are not accurate. This paper puts forward a trifocal tensor calculation method based on simulated annealing algorithm. This method overcomes the problem of local minimum and initial value dependence in the majorization process by optimizing the pole coordinates and error through the method of simulated annealing algorithm, and it can get the global optimal solution. Matlab simulation experiment results show that the proposed trifocal tensor calculation method based on simulated annealing algorithm is correct and effective.

Influence of intramolecular π-π interaction on the luminescent properties of thermally activated delayed fluorescence（TADF） molecule（3, 5-bis（3,6-di-tert-butyl-9 H-carbazol-9-yl）-phenyl）（pyridin-4-yl） methanone（DTCBPY） is theoretically studied by using the density functional theory（DFT） and time-dependent density functional theory（TD-DFT）.Four conformations（named as A, B, C, and D） of the DTCBPY can be found by relax scanning, and the configuration C corresponds to the luminescent molecule detected experimentally. Besides, we calculate the proportion of each conformation by Boltzmann distribution, high configuration ratios（44% and 52%） can be found for C and D. Moreover, C and D are found to exist with an intramolecular π-π interaction between one donor and the acceptor; the intramolecular interaction brings a smaller Huang-Rhys factor and reduced reorganization energy. Our work presents a rational explanation for the experimental results and demonstrates the importance of the intramolecular π-π interaction to the photophysical properties of TADF molecules.

In this paper, various convolutional approachs for 1-D and 2-D DCT are presented. In case 1-D, Li-method[9] is introduced, and more regular structure compare with Li-method is described. However, these two methods are complicated forms to implemente with systolic arrays, So we propose the proper structure in arrays. This structure can speed up the computability of the multiplication processing with real-number instead of complex-number. The 2-D algorithm and structure described by expansion of 1-D algorithm. The proposed structure which can process faster than 1-D structure and can decrease PE(processing Element) numbers of 2-D structure compare with 1-D systolic one is presented with block diagram.

Intracortical brain-machine interfaces (iBMIs) aim to establish a communication path between the brain and external devices. However, in the daily use of iBMIs, the non-stationarity of recorded neural signals necessitates frequent recalibration of the iBMI decoder to maintain decoding performance, which requires collecting and labeling a large amount of new data. To address this challenge and minimize the time needed for decoder recalibration, we proposed an active learning domain adversarial neural network (AL-DANN). This model leveraged a substantial volume of historical data alongside a small amount of current data (four samples per category) to calibrate the decoder. By incorporating domain adversarial and active learning strategies, the model effectively transferred knowledge from historical data to new data, reducing the demand for new samples. We validated the proposed method using neural signals recorded from three monkeys performing different movements in a classification task or a regression task. The results showed that the AL-DANN outperformed existing state-of-the-art methods. Impressively, it required only four new samples per category for decoder recalibration, leading to a recalibration time reduction of over 80 %. To our knowledge, this is the first study to incorporate deep transfer learning into iBMI decoder calibration, highlighting the significant potential of applying deep learning technologies in iBMIs. © 2025

Rate control is a critical component for image and video compression Particularly under limited network bandwidth conditions, bitrate control is essential to ensure efficient image transmission by effectively allocation channel resources. In this research, since both Channel and Spatial have relationship with rate allocation, we first propose a joint Channel-wise and Spatial-wise Quantization scheme to determine optimal quantization parameters. Subsequently, we develop a quantization step estimation network to obtain parameters to efficiently allocate rate according to target rate. Experiments demonstrate that our algorithm significantly improve compressed image quality with minimal bitrate distortion and achieve accurate rate control with nearly 3% average bitrate error.
