The sufficient and necessary conditions for Lyapunov stability of the zero equilibrium point of Lorenz system are discussed, and some brief criteria are presented for globally exponential stability, globally asymptotical stability and instability. Furthermore, the behavior of the non-zero equilibrium point of Lorenz system is also investigated, and several sufficient and necessary conditions are provided for locally exponential stability and instability. The established theorems in this paper develop and extend the existing achievements on Lyapunov stability of Lorenz system. In conclusion, by applying the obtained results, some less conservative feedback-control laws are derived to guarantee the globally exponential stability of the chaos control of Chen system, Lu¨ system, Yang-Chen system and Yu-Xia Li system.

In this paper, a novel error concealment (EC) method for compressed stereoscopic image pairs is presented, which contains a new binocular EC mode and an improved monocular EC mode. The proposed algorithm selects appropriate EC mode to conceal the error block (EB) in the stereoscopic image according to the local characteristic of the EB. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme has good subjective and objective EC performance in stereoscopic images as compared to monocular mode.

As the increasing demand on medical and biological research, automatic behavior analysis for large scale biological cells faces a big challenge. A novel Bayesian bidirectional network model is proposed in this paper for detection and statistic of the cells behaviors such as birth, vanishing, split, merging and so on. First the cells in every frame are distinguished from background by mean shift filter and level set segmentation. Then we build a bidirectional Bayesian network by modeling the cell regions as vertices and the similarity of cell regions in successive frames as directed edges. By applying weights on the directed edges, the graph model represents the relation between cell regions. Finally, in order to remove fake edges, a iterative algorithm is adopted for analyzing the graph model and obtaining the optimal path of each cell. Experiment result shows that the proposed method is effective and accurate to detect most cells behaviors.

Noise reduction is a fundamental requirement of many speech applications. Sometimes the major interferences, such as music, song, cross-talking, etc., coming from loudspeakers nearby make it a more challenging problem. In this paper, by supposing the locations of interferences are fixed, a semi-blind Degenerate Unmixing Estimation Technique (DUET) approach using dual-microphone is proposed. Firstly, during system initialization, the spatial feature distribution of the interferences is estimated precisely. Then the feature distribution of unknown target speech is obtained using model adaptation. Finally, a time-frequency binary mask estimated based on likelihood comparison is used to separate the target speech. The experimental results show that the performances of our approach in adverse noise reduction are significant. 77.9% interferences are eliminated and the speech quality is preserved very well. The results are close to those of un-blind approach, where the locations of all sound sources are known.

In orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) uplink system, estimations of time delay and carrier frequency offset (CFO) are both particularly challenging. In this paper, a coarse CFO and time delay estimation method is proposed for interleaved OFDMA uplink system. By exploiting the special scheme of interleaved OFDMA, the repetitive time-domain training symbol is designed, and the training sequences for different users have good autocorrelation and cross-correlation properties. Furthermore, the time delay and CFO estimation metrics are presented by making certain correlation between the received training symbol and the local sequence. Through searching peak of the proposed metrics, integral CFO of many subcarriers spaces for each user can be estimated, and then timing delay for each user can be found. Simulations illustrate the proposed estimation scheme can get good performance under multipath channel.
