Point matching is an important component of image registration. Recent years, Coherent Point Drift (CPD) method becomes a very popular point matching approach. CPD treats point matching as a probability estimation problem and speeds up the process of matching a lot. In this method, one set of points are thought to be sampled from a Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM), which is centered by the other set of points. However, CPD is sensitive to outliers and noises, especially when the noise ratio increased or the number of outliers gets much high. To deal with this problem, we introduce shape context into the step of searching for matching points and then improve the form of prior probabilities of GMM in this paper. The main idea of our method is that if the most points in a data set are likely to be matched to a particular centroid, this Gaussian component should be have a more influence to GMM. Therefore, we set prior probability of GMM with the similarity between GMM components and the data set. And the computation of similarity is based on shape context. The experiments on 2D and 3D images show that when noise ratio is low, our method performs as well as CPD does, but as the ratio increased, our method is more robust and satisfactory than CPD.

An efficient and accurate method for landslide displacement prediction is very important to reduce the casualties and property losses caused by this type of natural hazard. In recent years, many kinds of artificial neural networks (ANNs) have been widely applied to landslide displacement prediction. But we can't know which type of ANN is the best until we have calculated the prediction error. An improper choice of ANN may result in bad prediction results. In this paper, we use a neural networks combination prediction method based on the discounted MSFE (mean squared forecast error) to reduce the risk of selecting the types of ANNs. Four popular ANNs, radial basis function neural network (RBFNN), support vector regression (SVR), least squares support vector machine (LSSVM) and extreme learning machine (ELM), are selected as candidate neural networks. The performance of our model is verified through two case studies in Baishuihe landslide and Bazimen landslide. Experimental results reveal that the combining neural networks can improve the generalization abilities of ANNs.

Memristor is a nonlinear resistor with the character of memory and is proved to be suitable for simulating synapse of neuron. This paper introduces two memristors in series with the same polarity (back-to-back) as simulator for neuron's synapse and presents the model of recurrent neural networks with such back-to-back memristors. By analysis techniques and fixed point theory, some sufficient conditions are obtained for recurrent neural network having single attractor flow and multiple attractors flow. At last, simulation with numeric examples is presented to illustrate our results.

This paper presented a control design methodology for a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) generation system for residential applications. The dynamic behavior of the generation system is complex in such applications. A comprehensive control design is very important for achieving a steady system operation and efficiency. The control strategy for a 60 kW generation system was proposed and tested based on the system dynamic model. A two-variable single neuron proportional-integral (PI) decoupling controller was developed for anode pressure and humidity by adjusting the hydrogen flow and water injection. A similar controller was developed for cathode pressure and humidity by adjusting the exhaust flow and water injection. The desired oxygen excess ratio was kept by a feedback controller based on the load current. An optimal seeking controller was used to trace the unique optimal power point. Two negative feedback controllers were used to provide AC power and a suitable voltage for residential loads by a power conditioning unit. control simulation tests showed that 60 kW PEMFC generation system responded well for computer-simulated step changes in the load power demand. This control methodology for a 60 kW PEMFC generation system would be a competitive solution for system level designs such as parameter design, performance analysis, and online optimization.

DNA-based information processing includes storage, addressing, transporting and error-correction, etc. Here we describe a feasible model that can extract and transport the information from specified sources to targeted destinations. This model is established based on the DNA nanotechnologies of hybridization, DNA strand displacement and nanoparticle aggregation reactions. By adding the extracting strands, the data strands of specified sources can be extracted, and then transported to the targets by the transporting strands. The result could be detected by observing the change of color through the naked eyes. Theoretical analysis indicates that thismodel could achieve the parallel information extracting and transporting from different specified sources to different targeted destination, which offers a realistic technology for the flexibility of managing information. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.

This paper is concerned with the problem of the full-order observer design for a class of fractional-order Lipschitz nonlinear systems. By introducing a continuous frequency distributed equivalent model and using an indirect Lyapunov approach, the sufficient condition for asymptotic stability of the full-order observer error dynamic system is presented. The stability condition is obtained in terms of LMI, which is less conservative than the existing one. A numerical example demonstrates the validity of this approach.

This paper proposes a predictive maintenance methodology for a machine in manufacturing with deteriorating quality states represented by multiple deteriorating yield levels. Imperfect minor maintenance and perfect major repair are considered. The underlying yield level cannot be directly obtained. Instead, product quality inspection information is used as the observed system state. The optimal maintenance policy associated with each possible observed system state is learnt by modeling the problem as hidden semi-Markov decision processes and solving it using policy iteration based Q-P learning. Then the future maintenance time can be estimated by re-simulating the system model using the learned maintenance policy. A set of experimental studies is conducted to testify the effectiveness of the proposed methodology and to investigate the impacts of involved system parameters. Face recognition is one of typical biometric identification method, which has a great prospect in secure authentication system, file management, human-computer interaction and social security. This paper proposes gray-scale characteristics and creates facial templates to recognize faces method based on a given number of samples. Firstly, it selects the method of building template according to the number of samples to create the facial template image; then, it will compare the difference of first-order edge entropy between recognition image and the template image and find the best match result; finally, the recognition result is output. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has good recognition effect on face recognition under non-constraint conditions.

This paper addresses the stability and stabilization problems for a class of positive linear systems in the presence of saturating *** objective is to give conditions of the stability,and design state feedback control laws such that the closed-loop systems is asymptotically stable and positive at the origin with a large domain of *** sufficient conditions for stabilization and positivity are derived via the Lyapunov functions method and convex analysis in both the continuous-time and the discrete-time cases,*** state feedback controller design and the estimation of domain of attraction are presented by solving a convex optimization problem with LMIs constraints.A numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
