CLUSTERING VIA DIMENSIONAL REDUCTION METHOD FOR THE PROJECTION PURSUIT BASED ON THE ICSA

The performance of the classical clustering algorithm is not always satisfied with the high-dimensional datasets, which make clustering method limited in many application. To solve this problem, clustering method with Projection Pursuit dimension reduction based on Immune Clonal Selection Algorithm (ICSA-PP) is proposed in this paper. Projection pursuit strategy can maintain consistent Euclidean distances between points in the low-dimensional embeddings where the ICSA is used to search optimizing projection direction. The proposed algorithm can converge quickly with less iteration to reduce dimension of some high-dimensional datasets, and in which space, K-mean clustering algorithm is used to partition the reduced data. The experiment results on UCI data show that the presented method can search quicker to optimize projection direction than Genetic Algorithm (GA) and it has better clustering results compared with traditional linear dimension reduction method for Principle Component Analysis (PCA).

Support vector machines (SVMs) have become useful and universal learning machines. SVMs construct a decision function by support vectors (SVs) and their corresponding weights. The training phase of SVMs definitely uses all training samples, which leads to a large computational complexity for a large scale sample set. Moreover support vectors could not be found until a quadratic programming (QP) problem is solved. Actually we know only SVs play a role in the decision function. Hence, pseudo density estimation (PDE) is presented to extract a set of boundary vectors (BVs) which may contain SVs. The PDE method is a variant of Parzen window method. Hyperspheres are considered as the window functions. In our method, for each sample we construct a hypersphere with an unfixed radius. The ratio of the number of samples contained in the hypersphere of a sample to the total training samples can be taken as the pseudo density of the corresponding sample. The set of BVs is taken as the training input to SVMs. In doing so, it speeds the training procedure of SVMs. It is convenient for PDE to determine its parameter. The experiments show that SVMs using PDE have the similar generalization performance to SVMs. © 2009 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.

A dynamic multi-objective optimization approach for integrated timetabling and vehicle scheduling

Dynamic integrated timetabling and vehicle scheduling (D-ITVS) is essential for mitigating the negative impacts of service disruptions arising from the stochastic nature of traffic flow and passenger demand fluctuations in public transit. Existing optimization approaches for the D-ITVS problem typically conduct optimization independently at each rescheduling stage. In contrast, this paper proposes a novel dynamic multi-objective optimization approach that considers evolving patterns across different rescheduling stages from a holistic perspective. This approach formulates the optimization problem for all rescheduling stages during a day's operation as a dynamic multi-objective optimization problem, modeled using a dynamic time-space network flow framework. To leverage these evolving patterns for achieving optimal solutions throughout, a dynamic multi-objective optimization approach for the D-ITVS problem (DMO-TVS) is introduced. The DMO-TVS approach learns the evolving patterns, and incorporates a dynamic solution representation alongside three key mechanisms: (1) change detection mechanism, (2) change response mechanism, and (3) multi-objective optimization mechanism. These mechanisms work in tandem to dynamically adjust the initial solution set at each rescheduling stage based on predicted optimal solutions derived from learned evolving patterns, balance conflicting objectives in the D-ITVS problem, and select optimal solutions with diversity throughout the optimization process. Experimental results demonstrate that the dynamic multi-objective optimization approach is capable of generating timetables and vehicle schedules with reduced costs, enhanced robustness, and improved convergence and diversity across all rescheduling stages. By balancing operational costs and passenger service quality, these improvements benefit transit operators, and during daily operations, passengers enjoy reduced travel costs and enhanced service reliability. © 2025

The H∞ based decoupling tracking control is studied in this paper. A virtual system constituted by the controlled system and the no coupling reference model is firstly set up. The controlled system is driven to follow the reference model to realize the decoupling. And the tracking error can be formulated by the H∞ norm of the virtual system. Then the controller is derived by minimizing the H∞ norm, which can be described by Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs). The necessary and sufficient condition of existence of controller is derived based on the LMIs above. A flight control example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The simulation results show that the proposed method is of better control performance than Linear Quadratic (LQ) tracking controller. © IFAC.

Software maintenance is assuming ever more a crucial role in the lifecycle of software due to the increase of software requirements and the high variability of software environment. Common approaches of studying software maintenance are to consider them as a static by-product of software operation and only the maintenance cost is covered. In this paper, software maintenance policies are studied with the consideration of software reliability and risk. An optimization model is defined to drive the choice of a maintenance schedule. The solution of the model provides the best maintenance policy and the choice of actual actions that will minimize the average maintenance cost while the software reliability and risk are acceptable. Finally, a numerical example is given to show the analysis process of our proposed policy. © 2014 IEEE.

In the industrial production environment, the scarcity of defect samples and the high labor cost of labeling defect samples make supervised machine learning models difficult to implement. In addition, defect detection using deep learning models usually requires high computation cost and advanced hardware platform, which is not suitable for running on embedded platforms. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an unsupervised fabric defect detection method based on lightweight convolutional denoising auto-encoder(LCDAE). The LCDAE model is constructed by the bottleneck layer in MobileNetV3. Experimental results show that the method can effectively detect and localize defects with less computation and has the potential to perform defect detection on edge-embedded platforms. © 2022 ACM.

Combining multiple clusterers is emerged as a powerful method for improving both the robustness and the stability of unsupervised classification solutions. In this paper, k-means selective cluster ensembles based on multiple feature subsets are proposed. In the ensemble, a random subset of features is used to train an individual k-means clusterer. In the final step, the selective weighted voting scheme is used for finding the best partition. The consensus function is constructed by relabeling all partitions of clusterers and finding the best partition. Experimental results on 4 UCI data sets show that our ensemble method can improve the clustering performance. © 2009 Copyright SPIE - The International Society for Optical Engineering.

In industrial production processes, defect inspection plays an important role in reducing the occurrence of failures and improving production efficiency. Data-driven algorithms represented by deep learning have made great progress in recent years, but need to face the problems of small quantity and poor quality of datasets when applied to industrial defect inspection. This paper proposes a layer mask blending-based generative adversarial network (LMBGAN) and optimizes the training process to generate high-quality surface defect samples. LMBGAN generates defect images and layer masks using the defect image decoder and layer mask decoder with the Pixel Shuffle operation. Inspired by the layer mask in computer painting, LMBGAN adopts the input image as the base layer and blends the defect foreground through the layer mask, giving it the ability to focus more on generating upper-layer defect images and reducing unnecessary background changes. LMBGAN additionally introduces adaptive discriminator augmentation and non-saturating logistic loss to promote model convergence under small datasets, effectively alleviating the problem of GAN training difficulties with limited data. The experiment results show that the proposed method can generate high-quality and diverse defect image samples through easily accessible normal samples, thus reducing the difficulty of obtaining rare defect image samples. © 2023 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Dynamic integrated timetabling and vehicle scheduling (D-ITVS) is essential for mitigating the negative impacts of service disruptions. It involves multiple rescheduling stages, with inherent optimization similarities across these stages. However, existing optimization approaches for the D-ITVS problem have not systematically exploited these similarities, overlooking the potential for decision knowledge from previous stages to inform the current stage. To address this gap, this paper proposes a reinforcement learning-based dynamic multi-objective optimization approach (RL-DMOA), which focuses on transferring decision knowledge between rescheduling stages. This approach models the optimization process of each rescheduling stage in the D-ITVS problem as a Markov decision process, incorporating a state space with vehicle information, action space for vehicle assignment, and a multi-objective reward function. A multi-objective deep reinforcement learning (M-DRL) agent is employed within the RL-DMOA to select actions based on the state at each decision point. The agent is constructed on a multi-objective deep Q-learning network (M-DQN), with a Q-value adjustment layer incorporated to prevent the selection of invalid actions. To select optimal actions while balancing the conflicts among multiple objectives, the M-DRL agent applies a non-dominated sorting selection strategy. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed RL-DMOA is capable of generating timetables and vehicle schedules with reduced costs, enhanced robustness, and improved convergence and diversity across all rescheduling stages. By balancing operational costs and passenger service quality, these improvements benefit transit operators, and during daily operations, passengers enjoy reduced travel costs and enhanced service reliability.

Active magnetic bearing (AMB) rotor system is widely applied in the industry for its remarkable advantages. However, it is a typical open-loop unstable mechatronics system suffering from nonlinear and couple characteristic. In this paper, the feedforward decoupling method is used to deal with the couple relationship of different axes. And the model reference adaptive control (MRAC) method is applied to improve the control performance and robustness and overcome the uncertainties. This control method makes the system output reach to the reference model by the designed adaptive law. Simulation results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. © 2019 IEEE.
