Networks are ubiquitous in the real world such as social networks and communication networks, and anomaly detection on networks aims at finding nodes whose structural or attributed patterns deviate significantly from the majority of reference nodes. However, most of the traditional anomaly detection methods neglect the relation structure information among data points and therefore cannot effectively generalize to the graph structure data. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end model of Deep Dual Support Vector Data description based Autoencoder (Dual-SVDAE) for anomaly detection on attributed networks, which considers both the structure and attribute for attributed networks. Specifically, Dual-SVDAE consists of a structure autoencoder and an attribute autoencoder to learn the latent representation of the node in the structure space and attribute space respectively. Then, a dual-hypersphere learning mechanism is imposed on them to learn two hyperspheres of normal nodes from the structure and attribute perspectives respectively. Moreover, to achieve joint learning between the structure and attribute of the network, we fuse the structure embedding and attribute embedding as the final input of the feature decoder to generate the node attribute. Finally, abnormal nodes can be detected by measuring the distance of nodes to the learned center of each hypersphere in the latent structure space and attribute space respectively. A passive universal image steganalysis method is proposed that is shown to be of higher detection accuracy than existing truly blind steganalysis methods including Farid's and the WAM. This is achieved by improving some weaknesses of Farid's steganalysis scheme in feature extraction, that is, instead of deriving an over-determined equation system for each sub band of the wavelet decomposition, the sub bands are divided into overlapping blocks and an over-determined equation system is constructed for each block. To guarantee the existence of finite answers, the over-determined equation systems are solved in a way different from Farid's by using Moore-Penrose pseudo-inverse concept. Further improvement to the performance is achieved by adding diagonal directions and increasing the number of moments. The comparative evaluations confirm the superiority of the proposed method over prevalent blind steganalysis schemes.

The decoding success rate may be worse when classical degree distributions are used in short-packet transmission of rateless codes, especially in industrial communication scenarios. A novel Boltzmann degree distribution is proposed for Luby Transform (LT) codes. The Boltzmann degree distribution has a high decoding success rate for short-packet transmission but a lower decoding success rate in long-packet transmission. To balance the performance of rateless codes for short and long packet transmission, the Boltzmann degree distribution and the robust soliton distribution (RSD) are combined with a new joint degree distribution, called Boltzmann Robust Soliton Distribution (BRSD). Simulation results show that compared with RSD and Poisson robust soliton distribution (PRSD), the proposed joint distribution can achieve a higher decoding success rate and reduce the average degree, especially in short-packet transmission of industrial communication.

Chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) is a new mechanism of contrast generation in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) which differentiates molecule biomarkers via chemical shift. CEST MRI contrast mechanism is complex and depends on radio frequency (RF) pulses used in experimental conditions. To find the optimal RF pulse, numerical solutions of Bloch-McConnell equations may be used. The purpose of this work is to compare the effects of different RF pulses on the CEST phenomenon. First, a two-pool exchange model for CEST in MRI is used. Z-spectra and signal calculations for the two-pool model have been carried out for some RF pulses. Efficiency of both continuous and binomial RF pulses is investigated by calculating three parameters, namely: CEST image contrast, flip angle and specific absorption ratio (SAR). The contrast of CEST image is considered proportional to amount of saturation. As a binomial RF pulse, WALTZ-16* demonstrates a good efficiency, but generates some unwanted direct saturations. On the other hand, continuous RF pulses do not create any unwanted direct saturation, but have less efficiency.

The self-organized criticality is a fundamental property for organisms to perform normal functional activities. Extensive large-scale biological neural network researches have found the existence of self-organized criticality through avalanche phenomenon, which is typical characteristic of self-organized criticality. However, such research method is not suitable for small-scale biological neural network, because number of neurons in small-scale biological neural network is not large enough to support the emergence of avalanche phenomenon. It has been demonstrated that branching parameter can also be used to describe the propagation of activity in the neural network. Here, in this paper, the C. elegans neural network composed of 302 neurons is selected to investigate the existence of self-organized criticality using branching parameter. Based on the obtained connectome of C. elegans, a directed graph model is constructed to simulate the gradient potential of neurons and the activity of C. elegans, then, the existence of self-organized criticality in the neural network of C. elegans is proved by using branching parameter method. Meanwhile, the result is further confirmed by analyzing the calcium activity data of C. elegans obtained from biological experiments.

Joint Offloading Decision and Resource Allocation for Vehicular Fog-Edge Computing Networks: A Contract-Stackelberg Approach

With the popularity of mobile devices and development of computationally intensive applications, researchers are focusing on offloading computation to Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) server due to its high computational efficiency and low communication delay. As the computing resources of an MEC server are limited, vehicles in the urban area who have abundant idle resources should be fully utilized. However, offloading computing tasks to vehicles faces many challenging issues. In this paper, we introduce a vehicular fog-edge computing paradigm and formulate it as a multi-stage Stackelberg game to deal with these issues. Specifically, vehicles are not obligated to share resources, let alone disclose their private information (e.g., stay time and the amount of resources). Therefore, in the first stage, we design a contract-based incentive mechanism to motivate vehicles to contribute their idle resources. Next, due to the complicated interactions among vehicles, road-side unit (RSU), MEC server and mobile device users, it is challenging to coordinate the resources of all parties and design a transaction mechanism to make all entities benefit. In the second and third stages, based on Stackelberg game, we develop pricing strategies that maximize the utilities of all parties. The analytical forms of optimal strategies for each stage are given. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed incentive mechanism, reveal the trends of energy consumption and offloading decisions of users with various parameters, and present the performance comparison between our framework and existing MEC offloading paradigm in vehicular networks. © 2022, CC BY.

Multi-level Coordinated Energy Management for Energy Hub in Hybrid Markets with Distributionally Robust Scheduling

Maintaining energy balance and economical operation is significant for multi-energy systems such as the energy hub (EH). However, it is usually challenged by the frequently changing and unpredictable uncertain parameters at different timescales. Under this scope, this paper investigates the coordinated energy management problem for day-ahead and intra-day conditions considering uncertainties of source-load and market prices concurrently. Note that the precise knowledge of distributions about uncertainties may be unaccessible before the decision-making in day-ahead phase. A two-stage chance-constrained model based on distributionally robust approach with ambiguous moment information is proposed to immunize scheduling strategies against the worst-case probability distributions. The first stage is dedicated to obtaining more energy arbitrage and operation flexibility by optimizing bidding strategies in day-ahead power, natural gas and carbon trading markets. The second stage focuses on the optimization of the worst-case expected operation cost. It provides a robust energy equipment and load scheduling strategy for the reference of subsequent intra-day arrangements. With respect to different variations of electrical and thermal components, an intra-day two-timescale coordination is implemented step by step. The energy scheduling is re-dispatched circularly to minimize the operation and penalty costs. The possible energy imbalance is also compensated by this way. As the energy management program is nonlinear, chance-constrained and multi-stage, some linearization and dual transformation techniques are designed to enhance tractability of the program. Experimental results show that the developed multi-level framework results in a carbon emission decrease of 37%, and reduces energy cost averagely 3% compared with corresponding contrasting cases. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a devastating disease. In this paper, we propose a novel method for scoring of air trapping in the lungs for detection and evaluation of COPD. The proposed method finds volumetric changes of the lungs from inspiration to expiration. To this end, trachea CT images at full inspiration and expiration are compared. For this comparison, the lungs parenchyma in the inspiration and expiration images are found and changes in the surface and volume of the lungs between inspiration and expiration are used to define quantitative measures (features). Using these features, the subjects are classified into two groups of normal class and COPD patients using a Bayesian classifier. In addition, t-tests are applied to evaluate discrimination powers of the features for this classification. The main advantage of the proposed method is its ability to estimate air trapping in the lungs from CT images without human intervention. The proposed method may assists radiologists in the detection of COPD as a computer aided diagnosis (CAD) system. It may also assist them with the scoring of the disease (severity of air trapping in the lungs).

Recognizing fault types of machinery system is a fundamental but challenging task in industrial application. Although data-driven fault diagnosis method attains remarkable progress by learning fault features automatically, the existing data-driven fault diagnosis pipelines learn non-discriminative feature. To deal with these problems, a new data-driven fault diagnosis method with recurrent attentional module is proposed to find a sequence of informative features by localizing distinguishing time fragments about each individual faults iteratively. The contextual sequence dependency between the localized time fragments is enhanced. Then, the fault types are further predicted on localized time fragments. The proposed framework also explicitly models long-term dependencies among these attentional time fragments to capture historical fault information. Experiments on hydraulic system show that the proposed framework achieves superior diagnosis performance and computation efficiency.

We proposed recently the computation of epileptic connectivity graphs based on wavelet correlation coefficients between EEG signals. The suspected epileptiform electrodes are recognized using the clustering of the topological properties of the graph that can be useful for pre-surgical studies. Here, we present a method for comparing epileptic networks estimated from scalp and intracranial EEG (IEEG) in partial epilepsy patients. The results are presented for a patient with left temporal epilepsy. Good spatial correspondence between the IEEG and the scalp EEG epileptic graphs is obtained. These results are consistent with the patient's clinical diagnosis.
