Physiological computing uses human physiological data as system inputs in real time. It includes, or significantly overlaps with, brain-computer interfaces, affective computing, adaptive automation, health informatics, and physiological signal based biometrics. Physiological computing increases the communication bandwidth from the user to the computer, but is also subject to various types of adversarial attacks, in which the attacker deliberately manipulates the training and/or test examples to hijack the machine learning algorithm output, leading to possible user confusion, frustration, injury, or even death. However, the vulnerability of physiological computing systems has not been paid enough attention to, and there does not exist a comprehensive review on adversarial attacks to them. This paper fills this gap, by providing a systematic review on the main research areas of physiological computing, different types of adversarial attacks and their applications to physiological computing, and the corresponding defense strategies. We hope this review will attract more research interests on the vulnerability of physiological computing systems, and more importantly, defense strategies to make them more secure. The advent of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) has facilitated the acquisition of high-resolution data regarding cell heterogeneity across various tissues. A fundamental and critical step in the analysis of scRNA-seq data is cell type identification. An appropriate graph construction strategy can reflect the topological structure between cells and allows for detailed exploration of the relationships between cells and genes. Given the sparsity of scRNA-seq data and the pronounced noise generated by shallow sequencing, choosing an appropriate graph construction strategy has become a significant challenge. In this paper, we propose a single-cell clustering method, named Sc-PNNMF, based on structural perturbation of nonnegative matrix factorization. Sc-PNNMF employs a structural perturbation algorithm to optimize the gene expression matrix. The optimized matrix guides the matrix factorization process, effectively overcoming the impact of data sparsity and significant noise in gene expression data on the graph construction strategy. We compared the clustering abilities of Sc-PNNMF with five other methods on ten real datasets.

Balancing efficiency and meat quality during the thawing of frozen meat remains a big challenge for meat industry. In this study, the effects of three thawing methods, including ultrasound-assisted thawing (UT), solid-state microwave thawing (SMT) and air thawing (CT) on the quality and protein physicochemical properties of beef in a pilot scale, were investigated. COMSOL Multiphysics simulation was employed to predict the thawing process, identifying an optimal endpoint of no more than -2 ºC. Results showed that optimized SMT efficiently avoided overheating and greatly balanced the thawing efficiency, meat quality and physicochemical properties of myofibrillar proteins, resulting in better water-holding capacity, lower levels of TBARS value and protein oxidation, while though UT kept better color and reduced protein denaturation, serious mechanical damage and aggravated protein oxidation limited its application. Thus, SMT could be a promising solution for industrial applications to thaw frozen meat. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In the process of urban logistics distribution, how to achieve efficiently and timely logistics distribution within the distribution time limit has become an urgent problem to be solved in logistics management. Three-echelon logistics distribution is considered to be an effective strategy to alleviate urban congestion, improve liquidity and reduce pollution. In this paper, a mathematical model of three-echelon logistics distribution problem considering time window constraint is established based on directed graph, and a double-tier intelligent algorithm coordinated by Distance Entropy-based Attractor Propagation (DEBAP) clustering algorithm - Crossover-and-Selection based Differential Evolution (CSBDE) is proposed. DEBAP is responsible for the optimization of region partitioning and facility allocation. The obtained region partitioning and facility allocation scheme are transmitted to CSBDE for path planning. CSBDE feeds back the optimized path planning scheme to DEBAP, and the two-tier intelligent algorithm cooperates to complete the optimization of three-echelon logistics distribution system. In addition, this paper proposes a search strategy based on reachable distribution region and a facility allocation optimization strategy based on path length as weight to improve the efficiency of the algorithm. The example calculation shows that the mathematical model and combined intelligent algorithm proposed in this paper can effectively solve 3-echelon logistics distribution problem(3E-LDP), provide theoretical and methodological guidance for multi-echelon logistics distribution, and can be well implemented in practice to help logistics operators reduce operation costs and improve customer service. © 2022, The Authors. In this paper, we analyze the response of passive quantum linear systems in a non-Markovian environment to single photon input fields. Based on an augmented modelling method for non-Markovian quantum systems, analytic forms of output intensity and output covariance function in steady-state are derived. These results allow us to quantitatively analyze the influence of non-Markovian environment on system response under a framework of linear system theory.

In this study, we investigated how different proportions blends of RG-I pectic polysaccharides and hesperidin impact the gut microbiota and metabolites using an in vitro simulated digestion and fermentation model. The results indicated that both of them could modulate the gut microbiota and produce beneficial metabolites. However, their blends in particular proportions exhibited remarkable synergistic effects on modulating the intestinal microenvironment, surpassing the effects observed with individual components. Specifically, these blends could enhance acidogenic potential, increase short-chain fatty acids production, improve hesperidin bioavailability, and promote microbial diversity. This synergistic and additive effect was inseparable from the role of gut microbiota. Certain beneficial bacteria, such as Blautia, Faecalibacterium, and Prevotella, exhibited strong preferences for those blends, thereby contributing to host health through participating in carbohydrate and flavonoid metabolism. © 2024, The Authors. During the spontaneous solid-state fermentation of Moutai Daqu, three types of Daqu could be formatted, which are named as white Daqu, yellow Daqu, and black Daqu. up to now, it is still unclear what the differences among them. Therefore, in the present study, the amplified sequencing and metabolomics techniques were applied, and results showed that Kroppenstedtia and Bacillus were identified as the main microorganisms of yellow and white Daqu, while Oceanbacillus and Scopulibacillus were of black Daqu. Further exploration revealed that white and black Daqu played important roles in the liquefaction and saccharification processes. The metabolomics results showed that yellow and black Daqu contained more upregulated amino acids and fatty acids and more significant effects on Baijiu flavor and functional activity. In summary, the present study further revealed the compositions and functions of three types of Daqu and might provide theoretical data for improving the production quality of Moutai Daqu. © 2024, The Authors.
