The thesis studies the semi-global scaled edge-consensus of linear discrete-time multi-agent systems under both the directed networks and undirected networks, where the states of each edge are subject to input saturation and positive constraint. By virtue of the MARE-based low-gain feedback method, two control protocols about directed networks and undirected networks are devised respectively to promise the positive scaled edge-consensus with input saturation. Thus we find the sufficient conditions to promise the positive edge states and overcome the input saturation. Finally, two representative examples are presented to prove the results.

Spiking neural P systems with astrocytes (SNPA systems, for short) are a class of distributed parallel computing devices inspired from the way neurons communicate by means of spikes and the functioning of astrocytes control the spikes passing along synapses. Looking for small universal computing devices is a classical researching topic in computer science, whose aim is to construct computationally universal computing devices using less resources. In this work, we investigate small universal SNPA systems as both devices computing functions and devices generating sets of numbers. Specifically, SNPA systems with 77 neurons and 21 astrocytes can compute any Turing computable function;and it is obtained that 67 neurons and 18 astrocytes can generate the family of Turing computable numbers.

Motivated by the need of the numerous real-world applications, 3D object recognition has become an active research field. The representation describes the sensed data and the object models, and it is a key issue in the recognition process, which decides the match strategy and the effectiveness and robustness of the recognition system. In this paper, we propose an improved 3D object representation first, which computes the local signatures of a given basis polygon on the surface mesh, and converts the signatures to a 2D array called the distance-angle (DA) images by weighted bilinear interpolation. This representation is adaptive to free-form objects and resistant to occlusion and clutter. Compared with the original representation, it has a more distinct meaning, easier operation, and adaptation to different resolutions and irregular triangle meshes. Secondly, based on the improved representation, a novel 3D recognition algorithm is presented, which has multiresolution mesh based, coarse-to-fine recognition. By matching the DA image of a polygon in the scene surface mesh with the DA images of models at low resolution, a model candidate set is obtained. The set is filtered in the neighborhood of the matched polygons in a high-resolution mesh and verified by the model candidate sets of other polygons. Experiments show that this algorithm needs less computation and is very accurate and robust.

In this paper, we address the problem of person reidentification (re-id), which remains to be challenging due to view point changes, pose variations, different camera settings, etc. Different from common methods that concatenate descriptors extracted from different support regions and feature channels directly as a long vector, we encode the importance of different feature channels and support regions explicitly and propose a two-layer distance ensemble model called DeNet to measure the similarity between two images. The first layer of DeNet combines distances of different support regions while the second layer weights different feature channels. Weight parameters of DeNet are learnt under the large margin framework with the goal of maximizing the difference between distances of positive and negative matching pairs. Our method achieves very competitive results on the widely used VIPeR and PRID 450S datasets.

Considering the shortage of edge preservation and low direction-resolution for SAR image segmentation based on the conventional wavelet transform domain, a new segmentation method is proposed based on Gray-Level Cooccurrence Probability (GLCP) features in the overcomplete Brushlet domain. This method compresses the redundant GLCP features extracted by the adaptive window Gabor filtering in different direction coefficient blocks using compressed sensing, then the Fuzzy C-Mean (FCM) clustering method is utilized to complete the clustering and obtain the segmentation result. The experiment results show that the new method has advantages in the edge preservation and direction extraction, and obtains better segmentation results with respect to other methods.
