Scene flow represents the 3D motion of each point in the scene, which explicitly describes the distance and the direction of each point’s movement. Scene flow estimation is used in various applications such as autonomous driving fields, activity recognition, and virtual reality fields. As it is challenging to annotate scene flow with ground truth for real-world data, this leaves no real-world dataset available to provide a large amount of data with ground truth for scene flow estimation. Therefore, many works use synthesized data to pre-train their network and real-world LiDAR data to finetune. Unlike the previous unsupervised learning of scene flow in point clouds, we propose to use odometry information to assist the unsupervised learning of scene flow and use real-world LiDAR data to train our network. Supervised odometry provides more accurate shared cost volume for scene flow. In addition, the proposed network has mask-weighted warp layers to get a more accurate predicted point cloud. The warp operation means applying an estimated pose transformation or scene flow to a source point cloud to obtain a predicted point cloud and is the key to refining scene flow from coarse to fine. When performing warp operations, the points in different states use different weights for the pose transformation and scene flow transformation. We classify the states of points as static, dynamic, and occluded, where the static masks are used to divide static and dynamic points, and the occlusion masks are used to divide occluded points. The mask-weighted warp layer indicates that static masks and occlusion masks are used as weights when performing warp operations. Our designs are proved to be effective in ablation experiments. The experiment results show the promising prospect of an odometry-assisted unsupervised learning method for 3D scene flow in real-world data. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Cancer-associated biomarker genes play an indispensable role in the intricate tapestry of cancer development and manifestation. The expression of biomarkers in different types of tumor cells has beneficial implications for shedding light on the development of various cancers, guiding clinical diagnosis, and treatment. Microarray technology enables the expression levels of thousands of genes in samples to be sequenced simultaneously. However, sparse and high-dimensional microarray data present a formidable challenge in identifying biomarker genes. This study presents EREF-NSGA2, a novel method for cancer biomarker selection from microarray data, employing a hybrid gene selection approach. Firstly, the combination of the wrapper and embedded gene selection methods is proposed to filter the microarray data, which efficiently decreases the search space of the algorithm. After that, the improved NSGA-II algorithm is used to search the genes subset obtained from the previous step to reach the optimal subset of cancer biomarker genes. The proposed EREF-NSGA2 is compared with other reported methods on six cancer benchmark gene expression datasets. A detailed biological analysis is performed to analyze the relationship between the selected genes and the cancer data sets they belong to. To summarize, EREF-NSGA2 proves its effectiveness in selecting a feature subset comprising the fewest genes while maintaining the highest classification accuracy.

Detecting safety clothing and helmets is paramount for ensuring the safety of construction workers. However, the development of deep learning models in this domain has been impeded by the scarcity of high-quality datasets. In this study, we construct a large, complex, and realistic safety clothing and helmet detection (SFCHD) dataset. SFCHD is derived from two authentic chemical plants, comprising 12,373 images, 7 categories, and 50,552 annotations. We partition the SFCHD dataset into training and testing sets with a ratio of 4:1 and validate its utility by applying several classic object detection algorithms. Furthermore, drawing inspiration from spatial and channel attention mechanisms, we design a spatial and channel attention-based low-light enhancement (SCALE) module. SCALE is a plug-and-play component with a high degree of flexibility. Extensive evaluations of the SCALE module on both the ExDark and SFCHD datasets have empirically demonstrated its efficacy in enhancing the performance of detectors under low-light conditions. In this article, an adaptive event-triggered asymp¬totically fault-tolerant control (FTC) issue for nonlinear systems with actuator faults is investigated. An extended neural networks (NNs) technique is introduced to estimate unknown functions of the system under consideration. Compared with traditional NNs that ignore approximation errors, the proposed extended NNs further processes approximation errors, reducing the conservatism of the proposed algorithm. Then, within the framework of backstepping method, a new adaptive control strategy is developed by combining event-triggered mechanism (ETM) and bound estimation (BE) approach, which ensures the asymptotic convergence of system states while also reducing the transmission of unnecessary information, thus improving the utilization of communication resources. At the same time, the designed controller eliminates the adverse effects of actuator failures and system nonlinear terms. Finally, a simulation example of a single-link robot system is provided to demonstrate that the developed control strategy can ensure that all signals are bounded and system states are asymptotically convergent.

Computationally Expensive High-Dimensional Multiobjective Optimization via Surrogate-Assisted Reformulation and Decomposition

In recent decades, various surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithms (SAEAs) have been proposed to solve computationally expensive multiobjective optimization problems (EMOPs). Nevertheless, designing an SAEA to handle high-dimensional EMOPs and balance convergence, diversity, and computational complexity remains challenging. Here, we propose a two-phase SAEA (TP-SAEA), which follows the idea of convergence first and diversity second, for solving high-dimensional EMOPs. In Phase I, a surrogate-assisted problem reformulation method is proposed to fast-track the Pareto optimal set in association with some reference solutions. Specifically, the high-dimensional EMOP is reformulated into an expensive single-objective one with low-dimensional decision space. Then, the surrogate-assisted optimization is utilized to obtain well-converged solutions. In Phase II, the high-dimensional EMOP is decomposed into two subproblems to explore subregions of the decision space that can effectively promote the diversity of the solutions. The two subproblems are optimized independently via surrogate-assisted optimization, aiming to push the population towards different regions of the Pareto optimal front. Experiments are conducted on EMOPs with 100 to 500 decision variables compared with four state-of-the-art SAEAs. The proposed TP-SAEA obtains well-converged and diverse solutions with only 509 real function evaluations. Precise 6D pose estimation of the target object is an essential prerequisite for robots to understand the real world. Previous 6D pose estimation methods based on 3D data usually have problems such as long model training time, imperfect feature extraction, redundant network model parameters, and complicated follow-up processing steps. This paper proposes a 2D-3D feature fusion module that could enhance feature extraction for the 6D pose estimation network. Furthermore, we compress the size of model parameters by adopting depthwise separable convolution to accelerate training speed and to reduce memory consumption. The experiment results on LineMOD dataset show the effectiveness of our method. Our method achieves on par or better performance than the state-of-art methods for 6D pose estimation and reduces model training time and the number of model parameters simultaneously. © 2021 IEEE.

A pushing-grasping collaborative method based on deep q-network algorithm in dual perspectives

Aiming at the traditional grasping method for manipulators based on 2D camera, when faced with the scene of gathering or covering, it can hardly perform well in unstructured scenes that appear as gathering and covering, for the reason that can’t recognize objects accurately in cluster scenes from a single perspective and the manipulators can’t make the environment better for grasping. In this case, a novel method of pushing-grasping collaborative based on the deep Q-network in dual perspectives is proposed in this paper. This method adopts an improved deep Q-network algorithm, with an RGB-D camera to obtain the information of objects’ RGB images and point cloud from two perspectives, and combines the pushing and grasping actions, so that the trained manipulator can make the scenes better for grasping, so that it can perform well in more complicated grasping scenes. What’s more, we improved the reward function of the deep Q-network and propose the piecewise reward function to speed up the convergence of the deep Q-network. We trained different models and tried different methods in the V-REP simulation environment, and it drew a conclusion that the method proposed in this paper converges quickly and the success rate of grasping objects in unstructured scenes raises up to 83.5%. Besides, it shows the generalization ability and well performance when novel objects appear in the scenes that the manipulator has never grasped before. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. The self-organized criticality is a fundamental property for organisms to perform normal functional *** large-scale biological neural network researches have found the existence of self-organized criticality through avalanche phenomenon, which is typical characteristic of self-organized criticality. However, such research method is not suitable for small-scale biological neural network, because number of neurons in small-scale biological neural network is not large enough to support the emergence of avalanche phenomenon. It has been demonstrated that branching parameter can also be used to describe the propagation of activity in the neural network. Here, in this paper, the C. elegans neural network composed of 302 neurons is selected to investigate the existence of self-organized criticality using branching parameter. Based on the obtained connectome of C. elegans, a directed graph model is constructed to simulate the gradient potential of neurons and the activity of C. elegans, then, the existence of self-organized criticality in the neural network of C. elegans is proved by using branching parameter method. Meanwhile, the result is further confirmed by analyzing the calcium activity data of C. elegans obtained from biological experiments.
