Safety and reliability are crucial for the public acceptance of autonomous driving. To ensure accurate and reliable environmental perception, intelligent vehicles must exhibit accuracy and robustness in various environments. Millimeter-wave radar, known for its high penetration capability, can operate effectively in adverse weather conditions such as rain, snow, and fog. Traditional 3D millimeter-wave radars can only provide range, Doppler, and azimuth information for objects. Although the recent emergence of 4D millimeter-wave radars has added elevation resolution, the radar point clouds remain sparse due to Constant False Alarm Rate (CFAR) operations. In contrast, cameras offer rich semantic details but are sensitive to lighting and weather conditions. Hence, this paper leverages these two highly complementary and cost-effective sensors, 4D millimeter-wave radar and camera. By integrating 4D radar spectra with depth-aware camera images and employing attention mech-anisms, we fuse texture-rich images with depth-rich radar data in the Bird's Eye View (BEV) perspective, enhancing 3D object detection. Additionally, we propose using GAN-based networks to generate depth images from radar spectra in the absence of depth sensors, further improving detection accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

We address the problem of learning new classes for semantic segmentation models from few examples, which is challenging because of the following two reasons. Firstly, it is difficult to learn from limited novel data to capture the underlying class distribution. Secondly, it is challenging to retain knowledge for existing classes and to avoid catastrophic forgetting. For learning from limited data, we propose a pseudo-labeling strategy to augment the few-shot training annotations in order to learn novel classes more effectively. Given only one or a few images labeled with the novel classes and a much larger set of unlabeled images, we transfer the knowledge from labeled images to unlabeled images with a coarse-to-fine pseudo-labeling approach in two steps. Specifically, we first match each labeled image to its nearest neighbors in the unlabeled image set at the scene level, in order to obtain images with a similar scene layout. This is followed by obtaining pseudo-labels within this neighborhood by applying classifiers learned on the few-shot annotations. In addition, we use knowledge distillation on both labeled and unlabeled data to retain knowledge on existing classes. We integrate the above steps into a single convolutional neural network with a unified learning objective. Extensive experiments on the Cityscapes and KITTI datasets validate the efficacy of the proposed approach in the self-driving domain. The cross-modal remote sensing image-text retrieval (CMRSITR) is a lively research topic in the remote sensing (RS) community. Benefiting from the large pretrained image-text models, many successful CMRSITR methods have been proposed in recent years. Although their performance is attractive, there are still some challenges. First, fine-tuning large pretrained models requires a significant amount of computational resources. Second, most large models are pretrained by natural images, which reduces their effectiveness in processing RS images. To tackle these challenges, we propose a new CMRSITR network named context and uncertainty-aware prompt (CUP). First, prompt tuning theory is introduced into CUP to eliminate the burden of optimization resources. By training the prompt tokens rather than all parameters, the large model’s knowledge can be transferred to CMRSITR tasks with small trainable parameters. Second, considering the differences between natural-image-based prior clues and RS images, apart from adopting the free-prompt tokens, we develop a prompt generation module (PGM) to produce the RS-oriented prompt tokens. The specific prompt tokens are rich in object-level messages of RS images, which help CUP narrow the gaps between natural large models and RS images. Third, we further design an uncertainty estimation module (UEM) to whittle down the uncertainties caused by the model and data. This way, can not only the semantic misalignment and intraclass diversity imbalance problems be mitigated but also the RS clues can be deeply explored. Competitive experimental results counted on three public benchmark datasets demonstrate that our CUP can achieve competitive performance in the CMRSITR task compared with many existing methods. Isoforms refer to different mRNA molecules transcribed from the same gene, which can be translated into proteins with varying structures and functions. Predicting the functions of isoforms is an essential topic in bioinformatics as it can provide valuable insights into the intricate mechanisms of gene regulation and biological processes. Conventionally, gene function labels are standardized in Gene Ontology (GO) terms. However, traditional methods for predicting isoform function are largely limited by the absence of isoform-specific labels, sparse annotations, and the vast number of GO terms. To address these issues, we propose HANIso, a deep learning-based method for isoform function prediction. HANIso leverages a pretrained protein language model to extract features from protein sequences. It also integrates heterogeneous information, such as isoform sequence features, GO annotations, and isoform interaction data, using a Heterogeneous Graph Attention Network (HAN). This allows the model to learn the importance of different sources of information and their semantic relationships through the attention mechanism. Our method can predict function labels at both the gene level and isoform level. We conduct experiments on two species datasets, and the results demonstrate that our method outperforms existing methods on both AUROC and AUPRC. HANIso has the potential to overcome the limitations of traditional methods and provide a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of isoform function. © 2023 IEEE.

With the vast existence of multi-objective optimization problems to the scientific research and engineering applications, Many-objective Evolutionary Algorithms (MaOEAs) demand to systematically perpetuate population diversity and convergence distributions in the objective space with high dimensionality. To fulfill the balance in the relationship between convergence, distributions, and diversity, this paper proposes a directed search many-objective optimization algorithm embodied with kernel clustering strategy (DSMOA-KCS) in decision space where some mechanisms such as adaptive environmental selection which efficiently assimilates design for control of diversity and convergence in the distribution of the solutions in the decision scopes. DSMOA-KCS is a stochastic, multi-start algorithm using clustering to increase efficiency. DSMOA-KCS finds the starting point in the regions of interest. Then, it improves them by the directed search method. DSMOA-KCS is compared with several existing state-of-the-art algorithms (NSGA-III, RSEA, and MOEADPas) on many-objective problems with 5 to 30 objective functions using the Inverted Generational Distance (IGD) performance metric. DSMOA-KCS evaluation results illustrate that it is competitive and promising, performing better with some problems. Then, even distribution, convergence, and diversity are maintained. © 2022, IFIP International Federation for Information processing.

The imbalance data problem appears in data mining fields and has recently attracted the attention of researchers. In order to solve this problem, scholars proposed various approaches such as undersampling majority class, oversampling minority class, synthetic Minority Oversampling (SMOTE) technique, Proximity Weighted Random Affine Shadowsampling (ProWRAS), etc. However, this work proposes a new method called Augmentation Based Synthetic Sampling (ABS) for imbalanced data classification that concatenates data to predict features with imbalance problems. The proposed study integrates sampling and concatenated features to generate synthetic data. This study shows the ability of the proposed method and the average of the AUC (area under the curve) to generate good data samples while experimenting compared to the previous study. In addition, this study merged the proposed method with the boosting to create a technique known as ABSBoost. Therefore, the experimental outcomes show that the proposed ABS method and ABSBoost are effective on the given datasets. © 2022, IFIP International Federation for Information processing.

Recently, Discriminative Correlation Filter based trackers have increasingly become popular in the domain of visual object tracking, which is benefited by their effective and robustness in terms of tracking performance. However, the significant variations of target appearance, such as Occlusion or Deformation, always suppress the performance improvement. Although the multi-feature fusion strategy partly alleviates the above factors, the synthetic scheme also ambiguates the overall presentation ability of multiple features and results in degradation of discriminative power during classification filter learning. In this paper, we present a novel tracking framework based on the correlation filter with multiple kernel learning. Instead of directly integrating different features, we decompose a tracking process into several module, including low-dimension modules and high-dimension modules. The handcraft features extracted from low-dimension modules are robust to the small variation of target while the semantic convolutional features from the high-dimension modules can distinguish the target object from the relative complex tracking environment. In addition, we also design a reliability detection mechanism based on the confidence map to accurately measure the important degree of each kernel learning and precisely estimate the target state in the subsequent frames. For verifying our proposed tracker, we conduct extensive experiments on several standard sequence benchmark. Experiment results show that our proposed trackers perform favorably against other state-of-the-art trackers. © 2022 ACM.

The increasing processing demands of information technology (IT) workloads cause the booming of data centers (DCs) in recent years. The servers in the DC emit much heat when processing the IT workloads and thus the DC temperature rises. The power consumption when controlling the DC temperature using the air conditioning (A/C) of the DC is high, which leads to expensive power bills. To reduce the power cost, using renewable energy (RE) to power DC has raised much attention in recent years. However, the intermittency of RE and the uncertainties of outside temperature pose operational challenges. Therefore, in this paper, a data-driven statistical-feasibility-based robust rolling optimization framework for the operation of hydrogen-DC microgrid (H2-DCMG) is proposed to control the DC temperature considering these uncertainties and the intermittency of RE. In the framework, the hydrogen energy storage system (HESS) is introduced to deal with the intermittency of RE, and robust optimization (RO) is adopted to deal with the uncertainty of outside temperature. The statistical feasibility is introduced into the framework to decrease the conservatism of RO, through relaxing the DC temperature constraints without harming normal DC operations. Moreover, we propose the Statistical-Guarantee-based Vertex Link (SGVL) algorithm to construct a polyhedron uncertain set of outside temperatures that can ensure the results of dispatch are economical and satisfy statistical feasibility. The constructed polyhedron uncertain set is linear, which reduces computational complexity in solving. A case study based on the real-world temperature dataset verifies the superiority of the SGVL algorithm on the aspect of the economic cost. It further validates the effectiveness of the proposed robust optimization framework for DC temperature control. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Obtaining accurate and effective information for drug molecules is a crucial and challenging task, which relies on high-quality chemical knowledge. However, chemical knowledge has been accumulated over the past 100 years from various regions, laboratories, and experimental purposes, which contains a lot of noise and inconsistency, leading to the out-of-distribution (OOD) problem. OOD may results in weak robustness and unsatisfied performance. In order to solve OOD learning problem with noise, a novel benchmark: ADMEOOD is proposed, which is a systematic OOD dataset curator and specifically designed for drug property prediction. ADMEOOD screens 27 Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism and Excretion (ADME) drug properties from Chembl and relevant literature. This paper explicitly make distinctions between two kinds of OOD data shifts: Noise Shift and Concept Conflict Drift (CCD). Overall, ADME contains 6 domain annotations combined with noise, CCD and no shifts, resulting in 18 different splits in total. ADMEOOD provides performance results on a variety of SOTA OOD models. The results demonstrate a significant difference performance between in-distribution and OOD data. Moreover, Empirical Risk Minimization and other models exhibit distinct trends in different domains and measurement types. Multi-scale Cascaded Large-Model for Whole-body ROI Segmentation

Organs-at-risk segmentation is critical for ensuring the safety and precision of radiotherapy and surgical procedures. However, existing methods for organs-at-risk image segmentation often suffer from uncertainties and biases in target selection, as well as insufficient model validation experiments, limiting their generality and reliability in practical applications. To address these issues, we propose an innovative cascaded network architecture called the Multi-scale Cascaded Fusing Network (MCFNet), which effectively captures complex multi-scale and multi-resolution features. MCFNet includes a Sharp Extraction Backbone and a Flexible Connection Backbone, which respectively enhance feature extraction in the downsampling and skip-connection stages. This design not only improves segmentation accuracy but also ensures computational efficiency, enabling precise detail capture even in low-resolution images. We conduct experiments using the A6000 GPU on diverse datasets from 671 patients, including 36,131 image-mask pairs across 10 different datasets. MCFNet demonstrates strong robustness, performing consistently well across 10 datasets. Additionally, MCFNet exhibits excellent generalizability, maintaining high accuracy in different clinical scenarios. We also introduce an adaptive loss aggregation strategy to further optimize the model training process, improving both segmentation accuracy and efficiency. Through extensive validation, MCFNet demonstrates superior performance compared to existing methods, providing more reliable image-guided support. Our solution aims to significantly improve the precision and safety of radiotherapy and surgical procedures, advancing personalized treatment.
