Adverse impacts of exposure to formaldehyde on human health significantly increases attention in monitoring formaldehyde concentrations in the *** formaldehyde detection methods typically rely on large and costly instruments and requires high skills of expertise,preventing it from being widely accessible to *** study introduced a novel approach utilizing smartphone-based colorimetric *** of green channel signals of digital images by a smartphone successfully capture variation of purple color of 4-amino-3-hydrazino-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazol solution,which is proportional to formaldehyde *** is because that green and purple are complimentary color pairs.A calibration curve was established between green channel signals and formaldehyde concentrations,with a correlation coefficient of *** limit of the smartphone-based method is 0.008 mg/m^(3).Measurement errors decrease as formaldehyde concentrations increase,with median relative errors of 34%,17%,and 6%for concentration ranges of 0–0.06 mg/m^(3),0.06–0.12 mg/m^(3),and 0.12–0.35 mg/m^(3),*** method replaced scientific instrumentation with ordinary items,greatly reducing cost and operation *** would provide an opportunity to realize onsite measurements for formaldehyde by occupants themselves and increase awareness of air quality for better health protection.

This work focuses on a class of general decentralized constraint-coupled optimization problems. We propose a novel nested primal-dual gradient algorithm (NPGA), which can achieve linear convergence under the weakest known condition, and its theoretical convergence rate surpasses all known results. More importantly, NPGA serves not only as an algorithm but also as a unified algorithmic framework, encompassing various existing algorithms as special cases. By designing different network matrices, we can derive numerous versions of NPGA and analyze their convergences by leveraging the convergence results of NPGA conveniently, thereby enabling the design of more efficient algorithms. Finally, we conduct numerical experiments to compare the convergence rates of NPGA and existing algorithms, providing empirical evidence for the superior performance of NPGA. With the advancement of electronic design automation, continuous-flow microfluidic biochips have become one of the most promising platforms for biochemical experiments. This chip manipulates fluid samples in milliliters or nanoliters by utilizing internal microvalves and microchannels, and thus automatically performs basic biochemical experiments, such as mixing and detection. To achieve the correct bioassay function, the microvalves deployed inside the chip are usually managed by a multiplexer-based control logic, and valves receive control signals from a core input through the control channel for accurate switching. Since biochemical reactions typically require high sensitivity, the length of control paths connecting each valve needs to be reduced to ensure immediate signal propagation, and thus to reduce the signal propagation delay. In addition, to reduce the fabrication cost of chips, a vital issue to be addressed in the logic architecture design is how to effectively reduce the total channel length within the control logic. To address the above issues, we propose a deep reinforcement learning-based control logic routing algorithm to minimize the signal propagation delay and total control channel length, thereby automatically constructing an efficient control channel network. The algorithm employs the dueling deep Q-network architecture as the agent of the deep reinforcement learning framework to evaluate the tradeoff between signal propagation delay and total channel length. Besides, the diagonal channel routing is implemented for the first time for control logic, thus fundamentally improving the efficiency of valve switching operations and reducing the fabrication cost of the chip. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can effectively construct a high-performance and low-cost control logic architecture. © 2025 Science Press. All rights reserved.

A class of distributed optimization problem with a globally coupled equality constraint and local constrained sets is studied in this paper. For its special case where local constrained sets are absent, an augmented primal-dual gradient dynamics is proposed and analyzed, but it cannot be implemented distributedly since the violation of the coupled constraint needs to be used. Benefiting from the brand-new comprehending of a classical distributed unconstrained optimization algorithm, the novel implicit tracking approach is proposed to track the violation distributedly, which leads to the birth of the implicit tracking-based distributed augmented primal-dual gradient dynamics (IDEA). A projected variant of IDEA, i.e., Proj-IDEA, is further designed to deal with the general case where local constrained sets exist. With the aid of the Lyapunov stability theory, the convergences of IDEA and Proj-IDEA over undigraphs and digraphs are analyzed respectively. As far as we know, Proj-IDEA is the first constant step-size distributed algorithm which can solve the studied problem without the need of the strict convexity of local cost functions. Besides, if local cost functions are strongly convex and smooth, IDEA can achieve exponential convergence with a weaker condition about the coupled constraint. Finally, numerical experiments are taken to corroborate our theoretical results. © 2022, CC BY.

Emotion Recognition in Conversation (ERC) plays a significant part in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) systems since it can provide empathetic services. Multimodal ERC can mitigate the drawbacks of uni-modal approaches. Recently, Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) have been widely used in a variety of fields due to their superior performance in relation modeling. In multimodal ERC, GNNs are capable of extracting both long-distance contextual information and inter-modal interactive information. Unfortunately, since existing methods such as MMGCN directly fuse multiple modalities, redundant information may be generated and diverse information may be lost. In this work, we present a directed Graph based Cross-modal Feature Complementation (GraphCFC) module that can efficiently model contextual and interactive information. GraphCFC alleviates the problem of heterogeneity gap in multimodal fusion by utilizing multiple subspace extractors and Pair-wise Cross-modal Complementary (PairCC) strategy. We extract various types of edges from the constructed graph for encoding, thus enabling GNNs to extract crucial contextual and interactive information more accurately when performing message passing. Furthermore, we design a GNN structure called GAT-MLP, which can provide a new unified network framework for multimodal learning. Multimodal sentiment analysis (MSA) is a fundamental complex research problem due to the heterogeneity gap between different modalities and the ambiguity of human emotional expression. Although there have been many successful attempts to construct multimodal representations for MSA, there are still two challenges to be addressed: 1) A more robust multimodal representation needs to be constructed to bridge the heterogeneity gap and cope with the complex multimodal interactions, and 2) the contextual dynamics must be modeled effectively throughout the information flow. In this work, we propose a multimodal representation model based on Mutual information Maximization and Minimization and Identity Embedding (MMMIE). We combine mutual information maximization between modal pairs, and mutual information minimization between input data and corresponding features to mine the modal-invariant and task-related information. Furthermore, Identity Embedding is proposed to prompt the downstream network to perceive the contextual information. Memristor crossbar array is considered as a promising circuit module for accelerating neural networks. Because the memristor is tunable and multi-state, it is important to design applicable Read-Write (RW) circuit for driving memristor crossbar array. In this paper, a novel RW circuit based on analog circuits is proposed for tuning memristors in high-dimensional array parallelly, which is scalable and low-overhead. The standalone RW circuit schematic is presented for reading/writing single memristor and verified in circuit simulation. Then, we extend and apply this circuit into a two-dimensional memristor crossbar array. The performance of memristor crossbar array controlled by designed RW circuits is verified via the simulations under various machine learning datasets. The comparison with related works is presented, which demonstrates the advantages of the proposed RW circuit regarding overhead and anti-error.
