3D multipath planning for UAV based on network graph

According to the characteristic and the requirement of multipath planning, a new multipath planning method is proposed based on network. This method includes two steps： the construction of network and multipath searching. The construction of network proceeds in three phases： the skeleton extraction of the configuration space, the judgment of the cross points in the skeleton and how to link the cross points to form a network. Multipath searching makes use of the network and iterative penalty method （IPM） to plan multi-paths, and adjusts the planar paths to satisfy the requirement of maneuverability of unmanned aerial vehicle （UAV）. In addition, a new height planning method is proposed to deal with the height planning of 3D route. The proposed algorithm can find multiple paths automatically according to distribution of terrain and threat areas with high efficiency. The height planning can make 3D route following the terrain. The simulation experiment illustrates the feasibility of the proposed method.

Traffic flow detection plays an important role in Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS). Video based traffic flow detection system is the most widely used strategy in ITS. Under this circumstance, we design and implement a video based traffic flow detection system which is called MyTD in this paper. MyTD takes advantages of both shadow removal and optical flow algorithms. Firstly, we introduce the current development of ITS and focus on the video based traffic detection technology, which is the key to ITS. Secondly, a shadow removal algorithm combining information in both RGB and HSV color spaces is proposed. Thirdly, based on the Iterative Pyramidal LK Optical Flow Algorithm, a vehicle tracking function is realized by OpenCV, as well as a Connected Components Labeling function and the vehicle counting function. Finally, MyTD is implemented and tested based on the algorithm presented above. Experimental results show the outstanding performance of our method comparing with traditional optical flow algorithms. © 2011 IEEE.

In this paper, we propose a novel approach for on-line signature verification using wavelet packet. Signatures are first normalized and resampled, thus they have the same number of sample points. Then, several types of local features are extracted, so that wavelet transform can be applied on them. After that, we conduct experiments to select the best local features, wavelet bases and wavelet packet settings. Also, experiments are carried out to verify the reliability and efficiency of our approach, which performs better than discrete wavelet transform and competes with the state-of-arts. © 2011 IEEE.

Deblurring camera-based document image is an important task in digital document processing, since it can improve both the accuracy of optical character recognition systems and the visual quality of document images. Traditional deblurring algorithms have been proposed to work for natural-scene images. However the natural-scene images are not consistent with document images. In this paper, the distinct characteristics of document images are investigated. We propose a content-aware prior for document image deblurring. It is based on document image foreground segmentation. Besides, an upper-bound constraint combined with total variation based method is proposed to suppress the rings in the deblurred image. Comparing with the traditional general purpose deblurring methods, the proposed deblurring algorithm can produce more pleasing results on document images. Encouraging experimental results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method. © 2011 IEEE.

Object recognition from images is one of the essential problems in automatic image processing. In this paper we focus specifically on nearest neighbor methods, which are widely used in many practical applications, not necessarily related to image data. It has recently come to attention that high dimensional data also exhibit high hubness, which essentially means that some very influential data points appear and these points are referred to as hubs. Unsurprisingly, hubs play a very important role in the nearest neighbor classification. We examine the hubness of various image data sets, under several different feature representations. We also show that it is possible to exploit the observed hubness and improve the recognition accuracy. © 2011 IEEE.

A novel probabilistic data association algorithm based on multiple model particle filter

Aiming at the problem of strong nonlinear and motion model switching of maneuvering target tracking system in clutters environment, a novel probabilistic data association algorithm based on multiple model particle filter is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the evolution of system state model is introduced in the sampling process of particle, and the joint sampling is completed. Secondly, one-step prediction of measurement and the covariance matrix of residual is constructed by the calculating the mean and variance of particle set with model information. Finally, the confirmation principle of echo from the probabilistic data association algorithm is used to realize the reasonable utilization. The theoretical analysis and experimental results show the filter precision is significantly superior to IMMUKF-PDA and close to IMMPF-PDA, and the computational complexity is almost one-half of IMMPF-PDA under the same condition. 1548-7741/Copyright © 2011 Binary Information Press.

According to the drawback of the traditional circle target extraction algorithm from high resolution remote sensing imagery used by Hough Transform, such as computation complexity, low efficiency and etc, a new circle target extraction method is proposed in this paper which can extract multiple circle targets with different radius at one time. First, the Average Absolute Difference is implemented to enhance the edge of the circle targets and suppress the noise of the background. Secondly, the locally self-adaptive segmentation algorithm is implemented to obtain the binary image. Thirdly, the thinning algorithm based on model computation is implanted to obtain the single pixel edge of the circle targets and in order to reduce the computation times in the following process. Furthermore, a pruning algorithm is necessary;finally, a modified Hough transform algorithm is proposed to obtain the circle targets. The experimental results demonstrate that the new circle targets algorithm can extract the multiple circle targets quickly and accurately, which has three advantages: low time consuming, high detection rate, robust to noise and fragmentary boundaries. © 2011 IEEE.

According to the feature that the gray distribution of the transition region (locating between the objects and the background) is more scattered than that of the regions of targets or background in an image, this paper proposes a novel method concerning about transition region extraction and segmentation, which is based on local variance of different areas of an image. The experiments indicate that the proposed approach can achieve better segmentation results than the local complexity method (one of the previous methods for extracting transition region).What's more, the novel approach outperforms the local complexity method about more complete and more accurate transition regions, less interference from backgrounds, more detail information of segmented targets, clearer and better segmented targets, easier calculation, and higher processing speed. © 2011 IEEE.

Compared with traditional video summarization approaches, aerial video summarization is a new and challenging issue for its particular characteristics. Aerial video data is a massive data stream, without pre-edit structures such as sports or news video data, lack of camera motion such as zoom and pan. On account of these characteristics, we proposed a novel approach for summarization. First, we extract GIST features for each frame as the holistic scene representation. Then, we divide aerial video into temporal segments representing a visual scene using on-line clustering method by examine GIST features of each frame only once. Finally, we select several key frames from each scene for summarization according to visual saliency index (VSI) of each frame computed from their visual saliency map. In the paper, we proposed new criterion for estimation of temporal segmentation of streaming video. Experimental observations show the success of our approach on aerial video summarization. © 2011 IEEE.

this paper presents a novel fast single-pass contour tracing algorithm in a binary image. The proposed algorithm is viewed as follow steps: firstly a set of contour segments of all object contours can be generated and traced in a top-down line scan fashion;then all contour segments are employed to be integrated into respective intact contours;finally all results are converted into the chain code as the final output. This algorithm can extract multiple contours of an image in one pass and never lose any outer and inner contour of object region. It is faster on implementation. Experiments results prove those advantages. © 2011 IEEE.
