Brain network have been widely used in the study of brain abnormalities in Alzheimer's disease (AD). The construction of network is important for brain characterization and graph neural networks (GNNs)-based classification tasks. Currently, structural magnetic resonance imaging (sMRI)-based structural covariance networks usually only consider interactions between pairs of brain regions at the individual level, and do not take into account higher-order relationships between multiple brain regions or subjects. To overcome these limitations, we proposed the group sparse radiomics representation network (GSR2N) which utilizes group sparse representation (GSR) instead of traditional Pearson correlation (PC) construction method. This reduces inter-individual differences in network topology and accounts for mixing effects among multiple brain regions. We conducted extensive experiments using the ADNI and AIBL dataset on triple graph convolutional network (TGCN) to compare the classification performance of different network construction methods. The results demonstrate that GSR method has the highest classification performance, with intra and inter-dataset test accuracies of 0.894 and 0.856, respectively. This new approach is expected to contribute to future sMRI-based brain network construction and brain disease diagnosis. © 2023 IEEE.

Based on statistical learning theory, support vector machine (SVM) is a novel type of learning machine, and it contains polynomial, neural network and radial basis function (RBF) as special cases. The mapped least squares support vector machine (MLS-SVM) is a special least square SVM (LS-SVM), which extends the application of the SVM to the image processing. Based on the MLS-SVM, a family of filters for the approximation of partial derivatives of the digital image surface is designed. Prior information (e.g., local dominant orientation) are incorporated in a two dimension weighted function. The weighted MLS-SVM with the radial basis function kernel is applied to design the proposed filters. Exemplary application of the proposed filters to fingerprint image segmentation is also presented.

Many vision-related processing tasks, including edge detection and image segmentation, can be performed more easily when all objects in the scene are in good focus. However, in practice, this may not be always feasible as optical lenses, especially those with long focal lengths, only have a limited depth of field. One classical approach to recover an everywhere-in-focus image is to use Laplacian pyramid image fusion. First, several source images with different focuses of the same scene are taken and decomposed into the low/high-frequency components image sequences. Within these decompositions, the high-frequency components image sequences with the largest magnitude are selected at each pixel location. Finally, the fused image can be recovered from the decomposed components image sequences. In the support vector machine (SVM), the pixels with larger support values have a physical meaning in the sense that they reveal relative more importance of the data points for contributing to the SVM model. In this paper, we use Laplacian pyramid for the multiresolution decomposition, and then replace the traditional salient features by support values of the mapped least squares (LS)-SVM for fusing image. Experimental results illustrate that the proposed method outperforms the traditional approach. ©2005 IEEE.

Over the past few years, deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) based semantic segmentation methods reached the state-of-the-art performance. To train a model with the ability to know a concept, a lot of pixel level annotated images are required, which is time consuming and hard to cover unseen object categories. Thus, few-shot semantic segmentation has been developed to implement segmentation with a few annotation images. In this paper, we proposed a novel prototype mixing model for few shot segmentation. Different with other works which only produce prototypes form support set, our proposed model learn a group of concept-specific prototypes from support set and then generate prototypes from query set. With prototypes from both query set and support set, we proposed a GCN(Graphic Convolutional Network) module to generate mixing prototypes for better utilizing of informations from different categories. We also proposed a clustering module to produce multi-prototypes for representing different parts of a single semantic class, which reach better performance than single prototype. Our model achieve 48.8% and 55.9%mIoU score on PASCAL-5i for 1-shot and 5-shot settings respectively. © 2021 IEEE.

This paper studies the problem of location and capacity for direct charging (DC) fast charging stations (CS). A new model with the random spatial-temporal distribution of charging demands is proposed to plan both the location and capacity for CSs and is modeled as a nonlinear optimization problem with a comprehensive cost function and multi-variable that can be solved by an improved genetic algorithm. Further, the trip chain of EV users is considered to describe the traveling characteristics based on the origin-destination (OD) matrix, and then the Voronoi diagram is used to divide the service area of each CS. The effectiveness of both the model and the improved genetic algorithm is demonstrated through the final simulation results and comparative analyses. © 2023 IEEE.

Aero-optic effects cause distortions, including blurring, vibration, deformation and spatial shifting, of the objects in the image obtained by the infra-red sensor. Contributions of this paper are in the following two aspects. First, the correctness of the theoretical point spread function (PSF) representing the aero-optic effects, which had been derived in our previous research, is validated experimentally. Second, in order to restore the aero-optically degraded images, an improved Landweber iteration method is proposed, where, instead of being fixed, the relaxation factor is updated adaptively at each iteration. Experiments have been carried out and results demonstrate that the proposed method introduces improved restoration results with better convergence. © 2008 IEEE.

A novel evolutionary route planner for aircraft is proposed in this paper. In the new planner, individual candidates are evaluated with respect to the workspace, thus the computation of the configuration space is not required. By using problem-specific chromosome structure and genetic operators, the routes are generated in real time, with different mission constraints such as minimum route leg length and flying altitude, maximum turning angle, maximum climbing/diving angle and route distance constraint taken into account.

DSP/FPGA-based parallel architecture oriented to real-time Image processing applications is presented. The architecture is structured with high performance DSPs interconnected by FPGA. Within FPGA a FIFO interconnection network and the specific data communication protocol are implemented, which interconnect 3 DSPs (TMS320C6414) effectively. The measured performances in the prototype with the proposed parallel architecture, including inter-DSP data communication performance and system computing capacity, show high data transfer bandwidth (up to 400 Mbytes/s) with low latency as well as high image processing performance, which achieve a good balance for parallel Image processing. © 2006 IEEE.

This paper concerns the stability of switched systems orchestrating between unstable modes. First, a mode partition is applied to select stabilizing switching from the switching between modes from different subsets. Second, a piecewise Lyapunov-like function is applied to decline at stabilizing switching times. Then, the stability criteria build on mode-partition-dependent average dwell time by collecting enough stabilizing switching behavior to stabilize the destabilizing switching behavior and unstable modes. Finally, the simulation verification shows the feasibility and effectiveness of the method. © 2022 The Franklin Institute

Unit commitment (UC) is a central market clearing process in wholesale electricity markets. With the increasing size and complexity of market-clearing models, UC problems become more and more complicated. To improve the computation efficiency, this paper tightens UC formulations with the general start-up ramp rate. Through analyzing their parameters over three periods, units are categorized into several categories for constructing corresponding tight formulations, and three of the categories are beyond existing works. By applying a recent systematic formulation tightening approach on top of these categories, new tight constraints of the general start-up ramp rate have been obtained. Numeral testing results illustrate the tightening process and demonstrate the improvement of computational efficiency when using our tightened formulations. © 2021 IEEE.
