3D scene flow estimation from point clouds is a low-level 3D motion perception task in computer vision. Flow embedding is a commonly used technique in scene flow estimation, and it encodes the point motion between two consecutive frames. Thus, it is critical for the flow embeddings to capture the correct overall direction of the motion. However, previous works only search locally to determine a soft correspondence, ignoring the distant points that turn out to be the actual matching ones. In addition, the estimated correspondence is usually from the forward direction of the adjacent point clouds, and may not be consistent with the estimated correspondence acquired from the backward direction. To tackle these problems, we propose a novel all-to-all flow embedding layer with backward reliability validation during the initial scene flow estimation. Besides, we investigate and compare several design choices in key components of the 3D scene flow network, including the point similarity calculation, input elements of predictor, and predictor & refinement level design. After carefully choosing the most effective designs, we are able to present a model that achieves the state-of-the-art performance on FlyingThings3D and KITTI Scene Flow datasets. Our proposed model surpasses all existing methods by at least 38.2% on FlyingThings3D dataset and 24.7% on KITTI Scene Flow dataset for EPE3D metric. The Role of Gut Microbiota and Ilc2 Cell Metabolic Characteristics in Cow's Milk Protein Allergy

The role of type 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2) in the pathogenesis of allergic diseases cannot be underestimated. However, the relationship between cow’s milk protein allergy(CMPA) and the metabolic characteristics of ILC2 remains unclear. This study explored the relationship between immune cells and disease in the context of gut microbiota. A mouse model was established with an allergy group induced by β-lactoglobulin and a control group. Subsequently, 16S rRNA sequencing was used to sequence the bacteria in feces, and non-targeted metabolomics were used to identify and analyze the metabolites of ILC2 cells in the intestinal tissues of mice. The results showed that there were three different types of bacteria between the two groups: Alloprevotella, Parabacteroides distasonis, and Bacteroides thetaiotacmicron. The identified fecal metabolites and cellular metabolites include sphingolipids, amino acids, linoleic acid, among which there are 51 different fecal metabolites and 134 different cellular metabolites. It was found that these commonly enriched metabolites mainly participate in sphingolipid, amino acid, and linoleic acid metabolism, and it is believed that sphingosine is expected to become an indicator for diagnosing diseases. These findings help answer the basic questions about the development of ILC2 in milk protein allergies and provide new information for the research on the relationship between microbiota-immune cells-allergic diseases. © 2024, The Authors. Coordinated Navigation control of Cross-Domain Unmanned Systems via Guiding Vector Fields

This paper proposes a distributed guiding-vector-field (DGVF) controller for cross-domain unmanned systems (CDUSs) consisting of heterogeneous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), to achieve coordinated navigation whereas maneuvering along their prescribed paths. In particular, the DGVF controller provides a hierarchical architecture of an upper-level heterogeneous guidance velocity controller and a lower-level signal tracking regulator. Therein, the upper-level controller is to govern multiple heterogeneous USVs and UAVs to approach and maneuver along the prescribed paths and coordinate the formation simultaneously, whereas the low-level regulator is to track the corresponding desired guidance signals provided by the upper-level module. Significantly, the heterogeneous coordination among neighboring UAVs and USVs is achieved merely by the lightweight communication of a scalar (i.e., the additional virtual coordinate), which substantially decreases the communication and computational costs. Sufficient conditions assuring asymptotical convergence of the closed-loop system are derived in presence of the exponentially vanishing tracking errors. Finally, real-lake experiments are conducted on a self-established cross-domain heterogeneous platform consisting of three M-100 UAVs, two HUSTER-16 USVs, a HUSTER-12C USV, and a WiFi 5G wireless communication station to verify the effectiveness of the present DGVF controller. Adaptive multi-layer contrastive graph neural networks

We present Adaptive Multi-layer Contrastive Graph Neural Networks (AMC-GNN), a self-supervised learning framework for Graph Neural Network, which learns feature representations of sample data without data labels. AMC-GNN generates two graph views by data augmentation and compares different layers’ output embeddings of Graph Neural Network encoders to obtain feature representations, which could be used for downstream tasks. AMC-GNN could learn the importance weights of embeddings in different layers adaptively through the attention mechanism, and an auxiliary encoder is introduced to train graph contrastive encoders better. The accuracy is improved by maximizing the representation’s consistency of positive pairs in the early layers and the final embedding space. Our experiments show that the results can be consistently improved by using the AMC-GNN framework, across four established graph benchmarks: Cora, Citeseer, Pubmed, DBLP citation network datasets, as well as four newly proposed datasets: Co-author-CS, Co-author-Physics, Amazon-Computers, Amazon-Photo. The application of CBCT systems in intraoperative environments has become increasingly common, but concurrent CBCT systems are unsuitable for situations that require a large longitudinal imaging FoV, such as orthopedics. To increase longitudinal coverage, we developed a dual-source CBCT (DS-CBCT) system in which two ray sources are symmetrically placed along the central plane. After further analyzing its geometric characteristics, we propose an analytical reconstruction algorithm termed DT-FDK specialized for DS-CBCT, which combines cone-beam rebinning and two rays with smaller cone angles among the four conjugate rays to further suppress cone beam artifacts. The system design and reconstruction algorithm are tested on both simulated and real-scanned data. Results show that the DS-CBCT can expand the effective imaging volume by 37.1% compared to single-source CBCT systems. The reconstructed images by DT-FDK also show improved image quality compared to traditional reconstruction algorithms.

Boosting-GNN: Boosting Algorithm for Graph Networks on Imbalanced Node Classification

The Graph Neural Network (GNN) has been widely used for graph data representation. However, the existing researches only consider the ideal balanced dataset, and the imbalanced dataset is rarely considered. Traditional methods such as resampling, reweighting, and synthetic samples that deal with imbalanced datasets are no longer applicable in GNN. This paper proposes an ensemble model called Boosting-GNN, which uses GNNs as the base classifiers during boosting. In Boosting-GNN, higher weights are set for the training samples that are not correctly classified by the previous classifier, thus achieving higher classification accuracy and better reliability. Besides, transfer learning is used to reduce computational cost and increase fitting ability. Experimental results indicate that the proposed Boosting-GNN model achieves better performance than GCN, GraphSAGE, GAT, SGC, N-GCN, and most advanced reweighting and resampling methods on synthetic imbalanced datasets, with an average performance improvement of 4.5%. Vehicle Scheduling with Exact Minimum Fleet-Size

Vehicle scheduling plays a profound role in public transit planning. Vehicle scheduling problem (VSP) addresses the task of assigning vehicles to cover timetabled trips to minimize the fleet-size as well as operating costs. The fixed cost of acquiring and maintaining vehicles is much more expensive than the operating cost. It is of great theoretical and practical significance to construct the vehicle schedules with the exact minimum fleet-size (EMF). The theorem that the EMF is equal to the maximum incompatible degree of the timetabled trips is first proposed and proved. Based on the theorem and time compatibility between any two trips, this paper theoretically examines vehicle scheduling with EMF. Specifically, construction procedures of schedules with EMF are provided for VSP in a specific case as well as the general case. Furthermore, sensitivity analysis of the EMF and the schedule with EMF are carried out. The EMF is possible to decrease by 1 if a trip is deleted or the start/end time of a trip is changed in the timetable. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Large-scale multiobjective optimization problems (LSMOPs) exist widely in real-world applications, and they are challenging for existing evolutionary algorithms due to their massive volume of search space. Despite that a number of large-scale multiobjective evolutionary algorithms (LSMOEAs) have been proposed in recent years, their effectiveness in solving LSMOPs remains unsatisfactory. One main reason is that most existing LSMOEAs may fail to balance convergence enhancement and diversity maintenance, especially for solving real-world problems. To address this issue, we propose to use a hybridized LSMOEA with adaptive operator selection (AOS) to handle real-world LSMOPs. Specifically, the proposed hybridized LSMOEA with AOS (AOS-LSMOEA) includes multiple different offspring generation and environmental selection strategies extracted from some existing LSMOEAs. Then it uses the AOS to adaptively determine the application rates of different offspring generation and environmental selection operators in an online manner. The proposed approach is capable of taking advantage of existing LSMOEAs, and the AOS enables the algorithm to choose suitable operators for solving different LSMOPs. In this study, the proposed algorithm is expected to solve the voltage transformer ratio error estimation (TREE) problems effectively. Experimental results show that AOS-LSMOEA achieves significant performance improvement due to the hybridization of different operators and the adoption of AOS method. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Short-Term Hybrid Prognostics of Fuel Cells: A Comparative and Improvement Study

Accurately predicting the performance degradation trend of fuel cells helps take measures in advance and prolong the service life of the stack, which led to the creation of a novel hybrid forecasting approach. The first grey model prediction method based on residual exponential smoothing optimization (ES-R-GM) can capture the voltage deterioration trend. The integration of two different ES techniques, specifically the double ES (ES2) and cubic ES (ES3), is explored to investigate their effect on improving the predictive accuracy of the GM model. The second method of the adaptive network fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) can characterize local nonlinear behaviour. The simulated annealing (SA) algorithm is utilized to optimize ANFIS results under different fuzzy rule selection strategies. The outcomes of the two types of prediction methods mentioned above are combined to create a hybrid prediction using the data fusion method and the moving window technique. Different hybrid methods are evaluated under general conditions and further detailed optimization. The proposed hybrid framework is verified by the data obtained from the experimental platform. Moreover, when applied to consistent public datasets, the hybrid approach maintains its robustness and accuracy compared with other prognostic methods. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Addr-Net: Attention Mechanism-Based Dual-Stream Deformable Medical Image Registration Network

Medical image registration is crucial for tumor growth monitoring, radiation therapy, and disease diagnosis. Recently, U-Net type networks have become widely used in unsupervised image registration to predict dense deformation fields. However, for image data with large deformations, these networks are prone to interference from outliers and task-irrelevant regions, leading to suboptimal registration accuracy and difficulty in maintaining the continuity of the deformation field. To address this issue, we propose a novel model called ADDR-Net. ADDR-Net leverages dual encoders and incorporates a Cross-Perceptual Attention Module (CPA) alongside a Multi-dimensional Attention Module (MDA) to enhance registration. Unlike traditional methods that concatenate fixed and moving images into a single encoder, ADDR-Net uses dual encoders to separately extract features from each image, facilitating explicit feature matching between image pairs. The CPA module, embedded within the encoder, enhances the extraction of global features over long distances. Meanwhile, the MDA module, embedded within the skip connection, filters redundant features and extracts local refined features, thereby improving the U-shaped network architecture. Experimental results demonstrate that ADDR-Net outperforms state-of-the-art methods. Specifically, compared to the Transformer-based TransMorph method, ADDR-Net increases the Dice scores on two publicly available brain datasets, IXI and OASIS, by 1.4% and 3.5%, respectively. © 2024, The Authors.
