This paper addresses the finite-time consensus (FTC) issue for second-order multi-agent systems (MASs) with nonlinear disturbances. To tackle the challenges posed by increasingly complex communication environments, an innovative integral sliding-mode surface is designed using event-triggered control. Furthermore, the study explores communication constraints between the leader and followers, employing impulsive control to facilitate communication only at specific intervals. A novel hybrid integral sliding-mode control protocol is advanced for the second-order MASs, which effectively eliminates the "Zeno phenomenon" and notably reduces both communication frequency and energy consumption, thereby enhancing overall communication efficiency. Ultimately, the efficacy of the put forward protocol is verified through simulation examples including comparison experiment. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Deep Learning and Projection Neural Network With Finite-Time Convergence for Energy Management of Multi-Energy System

In this paper, an approach based on projection neural network (PNN), sliding mode control technique, and deep learning is proposed to solve the energy management problem of multi-energy systems (MES) containing dynamic parameters. First, the sliding mode technique is introduced in the PNN to design a finite-time PNN (FTPNN). The stability and finite-time convergence of the proposed FTPNN are proved by the Lyapunov method and the setting time bound is given. Then, the deep FTPNN (DFTPNN) is designed by combining deep learning with the proposed FTPNN. The dynamic parameters in the MES that change over time are used as input variables for the DFTPNN, allowing the trained DFTPNN to respond immediately to changes in the dynamic parameters and to predict the solutions of the FTPNN with different parameters directly. Simulation experiments show that FTPNN has faster convergence compared to PNN. DFTPNN significantly reduces the computation time compared to FTPNN. DFTPNN provides predicted solutions to FTPNN. Since DFTPNN can respond immediately to changes in dynamic parameters and directly provide energy management strategies under different parameters, it can adapt to changing environments and promote the economic and stable operation of MES. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

Complementary Learning Subnetworks Towards Parameter-Efficient Class-Incremental Learning

In the scenario of class-incremental learning (CIL), deep neural networks have to adapt their model parameters to non-stationary data distributions, e.g., the emergence of new classes over time. To mitigate the catastrophic forgetting phenomenon, typical CIL methods either cumulatively store exemplars of old classes for retraining model parameters from scratch or progressively expand model size as new classes arrive, which, however, compromises their practical value due to little attention paid to parameter efficiency. In this paper, we contribute a novel solution, effective control of the parameters of a well-trained model, by the synergy between two complementary learning subnetworks. Specifically, we integrate one plastic feature extractor and one analytical feed-forward classifier into a unified framework amenable to streaming data. In each CIL session, it achieves non-overwritten parameter updates in a cost-effective manner, neither revisiting old task data nor extending previously learned networks;Instead, it accommodates new tasks by attaching a tiny set of declarative parameters to its backbone, in which only one matrix per task or one vector per class is kept for knowledge retention. Experimental results on a variety of task sequences demonstrate that our method achieves competitive results against state-of-the-art CIL approaches, especially in accuracy gain, knowledge transfer, training efficiency, and task-order robustness. Furthermore, a graceful forgetting implementation on previously learned trivial tasks is empirically investigated to make its non-growing backbone (i.e., a model with limited network capacity) suffice to train on more incoming tasks. © 2025 IEEE.

Curve-Suppression-Based Event-Triggered Mechanisms for Quasi-Synchronization of Fuzzy Delayed Neural Networks on Time Scales

The vast majority of published event-triggered mechanisms (ETMs) are constructed based on measurement errors, which introduces a problem naturally that they are updated when the measurement errors exceed the thresholds although the current obtained sampling states can make systems converge well. With this problem in mind, we redesign ETMs for quasi-synchronization of T-S fuzzy neural networks (FNNs) with time delays on time scales. First, a novel ETM is designed for continuous-time FNNs with time-varying delays to achieve quasi-synchronization, with which synchronization errors is suppressed to globally exponentially converge to a ball. Second, we introduce the ETM for continuous-time FNNs to discrete-time FNNs, owing to the existence of discrete-time states, the Lypunov function of synchronization errors run over the exponentially decay curve, but it can be suppressed to evolve under another exponentially decay curve. Third, for FNNs on time scales with constant and time-varying delays, we estimate the forward jump operator of the Lyapunov functions and design ETMs to guarantee that the Lypunov functions evolve under the exponentially decay curves, so quasi-synchronization can be achieved. Last but not least, we prove that Zeno behavior will not happen and four numerical examples are introduced to verify the validity and the superiority of the proposed ETMs in reducing information transmission. © 2013 IEEE.

Game theory-based models and design tools have gained substantial prominence for controlling and optimizing behavior within distributed engineering systems due to the inherent distribution of decisions among individuals. In non-cooperative settings, aggregative games serve as a mathematical framework model for the interdependent optimal decision-making problem among a group of non-cooperative players. In such scenarios, each player's decision is influenced by an aggregation of all players' decisions. Nash equilibrium (NE) seeking in aggregative games has emerged as a vibrant topic driven by applications that harness the aggregation property. This paper presents a comprehensive overview of the current research on aggregative games with a focus on communication topology. A systematic classification is conducted on distributed algorithm research based on communication topologies such as undirected networks, directed networks, and time-varying networks. Furthermore, it sorts out the challenges and compares the algorithms' convergence performance. It also delves into real-world applications of distributed optimization techniques grounded in aggregative games. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is an active microwave imaging and earth observation device capable of penetrating through clouds, rain, and fog, enabling it to operate effectively regardless of the weather conditions and throughout the day. However, speckle noise in SAR images can make them difficult to interpret, and optical images are often difficult to observe when they are covered by clouds. Therefore, after preprocessing, SAR images can be directly converted to optical images through end-to-end translation learning without optical images as auxiliary information, improving the interpretability of SAR images and realizing cloud removal. Due to the relatively simple structure design of the existing generator based on residual network, it is not perfect to capture and extract the feature information of the image, and the relationship between the features is not well connected, resulting in the existing SAR-optical translation results are not accurate enough. To mitigate this issue, we propose an image translation method utilizing a multilayer translation generative adversarial network (MT_GAN) for cloud removal. First, we design a despeckling module (DSM) to preprocess the speckle noise in SAR. Furthermore, a multilayer translation generator (MTG) is designed for SAR-to-optical (S-O) image translation. It can perform multi-scale image translation on different layers and combine them to enrich the semantic information of features and optimize the translation results. In addition, MTG combined with PatchGAN discriminator is used to compose the optical image generation sub-network (OGS) and SAR image regression sub-network (SRS). Finally, the SRS and OGS are used to establish the connection of cycle consistency loss and optimize the generated optical image. We prepare four datasets for experiments, two of which are used for image translation experiments and the other two for cloud removal experiments. Game-based Secondary control for DC Microgrids with Nash Equilibrium

Voltage regulation and current sharing are two major issues when designing distributed control strategies for DC microgrids. However, power supply economy of local generators also needs to be considered. In this paper, a game-based framework is constructed, where multiple generators are regarded as the participants with secondary control signals being the game actions. A distributed secondary control algorithm is proposed, while information mask is introduced to avoid transmitting true control signal to neighbors. Then, payoff function is designed for each generator, which is composed of voltage regulation error, current sharing error and the local generation cost. It is proved that under the proposed secondary control algorithm in conjunction with the payoff function, a unique Nash equilibrium can be reached. Consequently, the minimum of the payoff function can be achieved, where the optimization of system control behavior and local economic operation can be realized simultaneously. Numerical simulations and experimental tests are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed secondary control strategy within several scenarios. © 1986-2012 IEEE.

Surface-PMSM Sensorless control Strategy Based on Reduced-Order Linear Kalman Filter Cooperating with Prediction Error Rolling Compensation

Kalman filter (KF) is increasingly attracted for sensorless control of surface permanent magnet synchronous motors (SPMSMs) due to its strong robustness against measurement and system noise. However, conventional method suffers from poor position and speed estimation accuracy under dynamic conditions, and high computational cost. In order to solve these problems, an enhanced sensorless control strategy based on reduced-order linear Kalman filter (RLKF) cooperating with prediction error rolling compensation is introduced in this paper. Differing from conventional method, a reduced-order linear state equation encompassing rotor position, speed and torque disturbance is constructed. Then, by obtaining the prediction error of system output using the motor current equation in the predictive reference frame, the optimal estimation of rotor position and speed in KF algorithm is achieved based on the reduced-order model. This not only simplifies the calculation process, but also enhances the position and speed estimation accuracy under dynamic conditions. Meanwhile, a prediction error rolling compensation algorithm is developed to minimize the estimation deviations caused by motor parameters variations. Additionally, the system's dynamic performance is further improved with an adopted speed controller based on torque disturbance feedforward and acceleration feedback. Finally, experimental results verify the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed strategy.1 © 1986-2012 IEEE.

Adaptive Event-Triggered control With Sampled Transmitted Output and controller Dynamics

The event-triggered control with intermittent output can reduce the communication burden between the controller and plant sides over the network. It has been exploited for adaptive output feedback control of uncertain nonlinear systems in the literature;however, the controller must partially reside at the plant side where computation capacity is required. In this paper, all controller components are moved to the controller side, and their dynamics use sampled states rather than continuous ones with the benefit of directly estimating the next triggering instance of some conditions and avoiding constantly checking the event condition at the controller side. However, these bring two major challenges. First, the virtual input designed in the dynamic filtering technique for stabilization is no longer differentiable. Second, the plant output is sampled to transmit at the plant side and sampled again at the controller side to construct the controller, and the two asynchronous samplings make the analysis more involved. This paper solves these two issues by introducing a new state observer to simplify the adaptive law, a set of continuous companion variables for stability analysis, and a new lemma quantifying the error bound between actual output signal and sampled transmitted output. It is theoretically guaranteed that all internal signals in the closed-loop system are semiglobally bounded and the output is practically stabilized to the origin. Finally, the numerical simulation illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. © 2025 IEEE. All rights reserved.
